This location is great with the hemy down products and clothing. I have been in search of gently used items of all sorts since we have just bought a house. I was looking to fill out a Halloween costume and perhaps do a little shopping for neat stuff to go in my apartment and even some clothes if they were cool. This is a solid Goodwill with a large and organized selection of clothes, including mens, womens and kids. They also have a few pieces of furniture, some housewares and a whole bunch of DVD's. I picked up a bunch of stuff. Yay, me! Bring some patience. The line to pay takes a long time. They also have a donation center in the back. read more

I went to this location to look for a used desk. I had been here once before. I thought I would check out the shoes. For some reason, people were gathered while the shoe girl put out new shoes. Just thinking they are waiting for something...never saw this elsewhere or other GW's. Then the shoe girl chews me out, and yells for me to get out of the shoe area until the new shoes are out. I am taken back and ask why but feeling a way about the disrespect. She says you can't be here. I tell her that she could talk a little nicer to people. She laughs. Again, having visited other GW's in the past and never hearing of this, and no signs I just stepped away from her to stop the unwanted scene she was causing. Another worker yells at me too but more anxiously. I am like what is going on? I step further away and discuss the dialogue "with another customer" that was also appalled at the workers' reactions to a customer. We said they were acting crazy. Very strange. The first girl dramatically drops her shoes she was putting out and marches off. Then out of nowhere a "manager" tells me to leave the store. He did not ask me my side. The other customers observed the worker's behavior. I ask him (black male about 45) why of course as I am VERY confused. I feel threatened at this point and not wanting to move. He is in my face and acting passive aggressively. He never explains why or the new rule as a professional, but then calls the police. Like really. I felt that he was showing off and being ridiculous for no reason. I was not speaking to any of the workers and neither was the other customer. I tell the cop all of this and he suggests that I call the corporate office asap (which I have) when I passed him outside the store as I was leaving. Totally supportive cop. We started talking about a missing elderly man in the area. BTW-I did not see a desk so was leaving... DO not go to this location. Another store told me that with all the poor management(my words)....fist fights happen there (recently) and it has a long negative history per reviews on YELP, here, and BBB. Stay away from these dangerous people. There are others near by and they are quite pleasant. read more

This Goodwill location is just "aight". It's one of my preferred locations to drop off donations. The store inside is huge with more than half of it dedicated to clothes and shoes. Lots to be found for super low prices here. Maybe because it's just after the holidays but on my most recent visit here it was quite disorganized and appeared to be picked clean. There are still a LOT of books to dig through here. Lots of DVDs and some VHS (if that's still your thing). The DVDs I opened looked pretty scratched and smudged up though so I'm not sure of the value there. A tiny handful of records, in case you're on the hunt for something unique at a steal of a price. Seemed lightly staffed on the floor. With just two registers for such a large store you will probably find yourself waiting in line. Hours have always been good at any location I've been to. And really I just all around like what Goodwill is doing for the world in multiple ways. read more

I'm so upset & disappointed with this store after purchasing a piece of furniture on 8/12/23, not realizing that the supervisor venting to the cashiers about furniture not being marked as sold & the ticket & customer info not being recorded in the book would also be my experience the very next day. Everyone that knows me knows my relationship with Goodwill as my go-to, I even encourage them to shop there & always "round up". My daughter is moving to her 1st apartment so to Goodwill we went & lucked up. Or at least, that's what we thought. Only to come the next day & learn they sold her furniture! It was heartbreaking because it's an item she needed & the price was perfect for her small budget. I can't bring myself to ever shop this location again as that's at least 2 instances of this happening. I can't pass by any Goodwill without running in for at least a few minutes to peruse the CDs (which, like the daily newspaper at the end of my driveway, is an indicator that I a may be getting old,) This location is my third favorite in South Charlotte, after the Ballantyne and Matthews locations. I always seem to find something here despite the fact that it is a little more disheveled than the others, probably due to high traffic. Service is friendly though or is, at least, as friendly as you are to them. Drop-off is around back. read more

Not my usual Goodwill drop off location, but this is pretty large (locationwise). Looks like the moved from the stand alone building next door over to where the Hannaford... well I guess the Food Lion is still there, they just gave up some room for the Goodwill to move in. Convenient drop off location in the back of the building... have to turn around in the loading dock area, but it gets the job done. read more

I always find something good here! The women's clothing is on the left when you walk in and its organized by color. There's lots of dresses hanging on the wall along with purses. The back right has a section of vinyls which is fun to flip through but don't get your hopes up because half the time they are missing from the sleeve or broken. I have found a couple goodies! The electronics and shoes are usually in rough condition and the furniture is hit and miss. Just like any thrift store you have to go often to find gems. read more

Did well finding house linens like curtains here and decor items. This place tends to have better home decor items and that was my focus for my trip here. Like all thrift store it's hit or miss. The other customers seem to have no consideration to allow the staff to put out new items without swarming the poor person. Most stores don't allow this. Normally I would bitch about Goodwill's donation policy, because of what they WON'T accept. Seriously, you're going to turn away a $300 leather office chair because of some not-so-visible paint stains? Whatever. Habitat for Humanity's ReStore will gladly take my old furniture off my hands. But I am not here on the Yelp to gripe about the woman at the Goodwill drop-off trailer nearly tearing into me because I had the AUDACITY to try and pass an Oster food blender off as a donated item. Really? Blend this, hose beast. No, I am here to mildly praise the GW location on Johnston Rd off Old Lancaster Hwy. For two reasons: one, it's pure spectator sport, watching the Desperate Ballantyne Housewives try to feign disgust while tearing through the racks and picking up piles upon piles of the very same designer clothes their girlfriends probably donated a few weeks ago. Hilarious. Two, any place where I can literally steal an Aeropostale designer cowboy-print long sleeve shirt (retail: $55) for THREE DOLLARS (!!!) becomes a favorite place for me. The perfect shirt for when I decide to retire to Wyoming and become a ranch hand. And I freakin' love that shirt. Hell, I'll wear it when it's about 100 degrees outside. Who's sweating? Why are you sweating? I'm not sweating. Too bad Goodwill can be so bitchy about what you can pawn off on them anymore. read more

What can I say? I love me some Goodwill! This is not the cleanest or the biggest goodwill I have ever been to, but the staff is always very friendly and the selection is above average. I have gotten numerous new and like-new items from some of my favorite stores! A little hectic, a little crowded at times, but overall a fantastic Goodwill experience. This Goodwill is one of the best ones I've been to in a long time. It had a great selection of clothing as well as home goods. I was able to find many high end brand name items when I went (Ralph Lauren, Banana Republic, Brooks Bros., etc.) The store is a lot bigger than most stores that I've been to and it has a great lay out. I will agree with others that the staff aren't the friendliest, although I don't expect world class service from staff at a thrift shop. One lady stocking the shelves was complaining to herself and saying she's going to quit. Didn't really bother me as I was bargain hunting. If you're looking for great bargains this Goodwill definitely has some gems. read more

I am a frequent Goodwill shopper, and browser. I especially love looking for old style county home decor. While the wife and I were running errands we stopped in here. I am used to the one in Weddington, so this one seemed a bit bigger, or at least more spread out. Not a single employee smiled or greeted either of us during the entire visit, and that includes checkout by the 90 year old gentleman who moved slower than Grandma's Molasses. The store itself was clean, and layed out well, but I was really put off by the negative attitude being exhumed by EVERY employee i saw. Maybe it was a bad day, who knows......all I know is when a cashier barely looks me in the eye, and says one word, if the merchandise is no different than my closer Goodwill, I will never go back to this one when in the area. read more

Okay i be been coming here every now and then but every time I come by and I go to the shoes section is crazy... See there's always this woman always there and they just wait until the shoe's come out and they get their hands on them not giving a chance to the other shoppers to get a pair for themselves.... I was there the other day and one of this woman snach the shoes of my hand got mad and i told a lady that works there I need to see the manager so finally he came out told what happened and all he said is nothing he can do... And I think that's bullshit besides everything this places get are free and yet they put prices like in the new stores... while i have only walked through here once, i have donated several times to this location already. we just moved to charlotte (2 months ago), and we are starting afresh after grad school--so that means lots of reorganizing and decluttering. however, that does not mean that i don't like looking for deals. i was hoping to see a bigger furnitire/housewares section than i did. it was quite small, overall, in the store. i kind of wonder if their warehouse area in the back takes up the most space of what appears to be a large store. a couple things that are good about the store are that the people who help you with your donations are very efficient and helpful, and the store is kept very clean. i used to never care about dirty thrift stores, but now that i am a parent i am more concerned about cooties. despite the poor review, i think i may go back to look thru the clothes. i am on a quest for certain items, and used/thrift stores have such random inventory that my review could change later... stay tuned! read more

I love shopping Goodwill and have since I was a kid. I live beside this Goodwill on Johnston rd. so I go in almost daily. The employees and especially the Manager have never once spoken to me, except to ask needed questions during a purchase. No one has ever even smiled or said Hi to me, knowing I spend a lot of time and money there. As a fellow retail store Manager for 24+ years i am appalled. I feel they are extremely rude even when I have made donations. In my perspective I feel like they act like i am shoplifting or something, which really makes me sad for them but personally very uncomfortable. Despite how they make me feel at this location , I believe in what Goodwill stands for and will continue to shop here because of the closeness to where I live and the memories of my grandma taking me "Good Will Hunting"as a child. read more

My wife turned me on to the GW. This location is a good one. Really good selections on shirts: long sleeves, golf shirts & t-shirts. You just have to be prepared to look through the racks to find the good ones. I've looked for jeans, but haven't found any yet usually because my patience runs out. You just can't beat the prices! Didn't see any furniture or home decor worth buying but they had a nice selection of women's clothing.

It's for a good cause but the line is long there... Still, it's not too bad a place to go bargain-hunting on the weekends. They get consignments of unwanted stuff from big box retailers sometimes, which is worth a look. read more

I came in for an interview today and the store is a mess and doesn't represent a place you'd want to work let alone shop. It seems as though nothing is dusted and has a certain sent in the air. Employees there don't ask if you need help finding anything or check in on you. I was there for about an hour and noticed that there was always one girl checking people out while there was a huge line and no one to help her. Employees are also using the tables they are trying to sell to guests as a work station and filling them up with boxes which makes it hard for people to see what they look like. I don't recommend coming to this location, you are better off going to targetir Walmart spending a few extra bucks for something you need knowing it will be in better condition read more

Pretty decent selection here. I found that their selection of random stuff is better than clothes. I did find a real leather Italian backpack today and that was super exciting. I like how the shirts are organized in circles instead of straight rows of clothes, makes it easier to look and not feel like you're on top of someone. Cashier very friendly. read more

Most ot the time, I have no complaint about Goodwill. But this particular store needs help, literally, I stood in line to check out for 25 minutes along with 18 other customers. When I asked if another register could be opened, I was told, "no, I'm the only one here." A few minutes later someone came out of the back and opened another register. By this time about half the people had laid their items down and left. I shopped for 45 minutes and waited in line to check out for 25 minutes. The manager of this store needs to take notice. I am a frequent thrift store shopper and while I love other area Goodwills, this one is by far my least favorite. It's often fairly busy, so a lot of the items are picked over. The worst part is that the line to checkout takes forever! There were two lines on a Saturday afternoon as the store was fairly busy. One line had 7 people waiting and the other had about 4, so of course I chose the shorter line. Bad idea as I chose the older gentleman that was incredibly slow! Never picking his line again. I would have checked out and been long gone in the longer line. read more
