For example, on Earth Day they gift you a free reusable bag. On Easter they have a little treat and even on your birthday you get an e-mail bday wish with additional savings. You never know what you'll find. It depends on what has been donated. It's a great place to find clothes for working outside that you don't mind trashing. It's also a great place to find electronics of old technology. For example, if you need a cassette or VHS player to find out what's on those old tapes that you have hiding in your closet. If you're in a pinch for a piece of furniture they might just have what you need there. Amidst a lot of cheap stuff sometimes you can find a treasure. Most of the employees I have come across here are not engaging, and not always the smartest. However Goodwill makes a practice of hiring those with disabilities, so I take that into account. My family and I are decluttering. Things which we have outgrown or no longer need and yet still have a lot of life and can be of value to someone else. we have chosen to donate to Goodwill rather than attempt a yard sale.

One of my friends buys most of his clothes here. It's not just your grandpa's clothes either; they've got lots of brand-name items in great condition. I've found plenty of cool stuff too, like the painting I put in my guest room and a lovely leaded and stained-glass mirror ($3.99!!! I know it cost WAY more than that new). It's a big store too and is very well-organized by category and size so it's easy and pleasant to shop. Recently BF and I tried our hand at making homemade pizza which worked really good until we tried to put the pizza in the oven. A few days later we just happened to go to Texas Thrift and guess what we found - a brand new pizza peel!!! (The wooden thing that you use to put the pizza in the oven). What luck, right? And not just any pizza peel either, some fancy German-made peel. A quick internet search revealed the new price - $45.00. At $3.99 I'd say I did pretty well.
