Value World will always be more than just a thrift store to me -- it's tied to a memory I'll carry…read moreforever. When I was in the middle of planning my grandmother's funeral, I stopped in hoping to find something suitable for her to wear. It was such an emotional time, and honestly, I didn't know what I was expecting to find. But somehow, walking those aisles led me to the perfect blazer for her. It felt dignified, elegant, and fitting for the beautiful woman she was. In that moment, it wasn't just a piece of clothing -- it felt like part of honoring her properly. Then I found something that made it even more meaningful: a pack of six lapel pins. I decided to place three of them on her blazer, and I wore the other three myself during the service. That small, simple detail created a connection that meant everything to me. It felt symbolic -- like we were still linked, even in goodbye. People often think of thrift stores as just places to save money or hunt for deals, but sometimes they become part of your story in ways you never expect. That day, Value World gave me more than affordable finds. It gave me comfort in a difficult moment. It gave me something tangible to hold onto. Because of that experience, this location in Warren will always feel special to me. Every time I pass by or step inside, I'm reminded of how even the most ordinary places can play a meaningful role in our lives.

There's quite a few things that are very worn and torn in places. I know this is a thrift store, but the merchandise should still be expected for damage. Service is hit or miss, have had very rude condescending cashiers and at other times helpful. They have a system where you are supposed to remove your own hangers from the clothes before you go up to the register. This might help if they are very busy, but I have not seen more than a few people at a time in there. It's odd when the cashier is just standing there watching you do this. Not the best shopping experience, but if you know what to expect it's fine.

This is an excellent project to restore business at the old Walgreens location on the corner of Greenfield and 12 Mile roads. I missed the grand opening on April 24th, however, I couldn't wait to shop on Friday the next day. The service was excellent! The manager, Dee Dee, was leading the way with smiles and assistance. Shout out to my clerk, Ivori, who explained how the rewards program works. I was truly surprised by the vast selection for this new store. I was shopping for books, DVDs, toddler and women's clothing. Bingo! I found something in all four areas. I purchased a hardcover novel, Everything Everything by Nicola Yoon, a Daddy Daycare DVD, a toddler burgundy sweater and a ladies royal blue jumpsuit (coming to a concert near you), all for the low tariffs-free price of $16.49 plus a $1.00 donation. Shop local! I'm just saying! Rewards have their perks too! I can't wait until I start getting notifications of their 50% off days on donated merchandise.

They used to have a reward card that gave you a discount after 10 punches, they took that away about a year ago. They have not reopened their dressing rooms since they reopened after the covid scarce. I get why they were closed initially, but there's no reason to have them closed now. I was there today and their newest policy is they have no exchanges or returns at all. So you can't try clothes on, but you also can't return it if it doesn't fit. That's just a no go for me. I feel like this has to hurt their business. As an organization whose goal is to provide funding for others and to also sell things at a discounted rate it feels like they're making huge mistakes in their policies.

My mother will buy nice evening dresses from here for some special occasions, especially if she needs something that has a specific dress requirement. My mother likes that some of the fashion is more current and not so outdated. We even managed to find a dress for my niece when she came in town for a weekend. She didn't have anything to wear for an afternoon tea party and we were able to find some thing for her at a reasonable price. My mom prefers to go to this resale shop as opposed to other shops, since they have nicer and more fashionable items than most resale shops. It seems that they're more selective about the clothing that goes to this location as opposed to others. Given that my mother has several items of clothing from her wardrobe from here, I can appreciate that they do take more care about what they put on the floor here. Sensible styling seems to be the focus. My mother is a happy customer.

Every section feels intentional, from the graphic tees to the retro jackets and rare sportswear finds. You can tell they actually care about quality and authenticity. The vibe inside is effortlessly cool. It's the kind of shop where you lose track of time because you're really digging through pieces and appreciating the details. The music, the layout, the energy -- it all adds to the experience. It feels like a true Detroit staple for anyone into fashion with personality. What makes it stand out is that you're not walking into a cookie-cutter retail store. You're finding pieces that no one else will have. When you step out in something from here, it's a statement. It's original. Now for me personally, the only challenge is fit -- and that's not on them. Because of my height and slim build (and the fact that I'm very particular about how my clothes fit), it can take some patience to find that perfect piece. Vintage sizing runs different, and I'm picky about tailoring and proportions. But when I do find something that fits exactly how I want? It feels like I struck gold. That's honestly part of the fun though -- the hunt. And Regeneration makes the hunt worth it. If you appreciate unique fashion, quality vintage, and pieces that actually stand out, this is the spot. I'll definitely keep coming back to see what new gems hit the racks.
