Much of the food is donated by local stores or restaurants. They get a ton of stuff into their warehouse. They always go through the daily protocol in the big conference room. You are to wear gloves and a hair cover and beard cover for those with facial hairs. Now you can add a face mask to the attire too. You start the event work around 9am and work until 11am to noon. The warehouse job is the hardest. I have sorted through some rough looking potatoes, to water logged and decrepit looking cucumbers and tomatoes. It makes you really appreciate the foods we can easily pick through at the grocery store to get the most appealing ones. Any sign of mold gets tossed. This is the hardest of the jobs, but also the most rewarding since it's labor intensive too. I have also had the pleasure of assembling sandwiches in the kitchen too, with wheat squares of bread, some meat like slices of pork meat of some sort and cheese too. Volunteering your time and energy is greatly rewarding and so helpful to those in need. This is a great center that gives back ro the community. At the end of your day, they will brief you on how many bags or boxes of food were boxed that day. It's the only day big the original big 3 OEMs groups can collaborate and work together side by side without any intellectual property issues too.

I used Catholic Social Services for counseling and I was probably the only person there not…read morerequired by a court order. Catholic Social Services provides many different services and information for Catholics and non-Catholics alike. I find that the counseling is disorganized and poorly run. The counselors are mostly interns who don't have much experience. I've twice had two counselors leave their positions with a week or less notice to me. Not only is this inconsiderate, but I feel it's practically an ethical violation for a counselor. If you need help in Oakland county and don't have much money, then check it out. If you have money or other options, seek counseling elsewhere.

I was seeing a psychiatrist here for a while, but when she retired they brought in a new…read morepsychiatrist. I tried to keep an open mind seeing a new psychiatrist, but almost immediately there were red flags. Without any justifiable reason she insisted on changing my psych meds even though they were working perfectly fine as they have for nearly twenty years. After being on the new meds for a month I had another appointment, and I explained to her that they were not working and I would like to go back onto my original medication regiment. I take medication for attention deficit disorder that are essential for me to function. She then refuses to prescribe me my original medication until I get an EKG from my primary care doctor. I go get the EKG and the doctor said it was perfectly healthy. However, when the new psychiatrist gets there report, she says there's a problem with it and refuses to prescribe me my meds until I see a cardiologist. Mind you this is in the middle of a semester that I'm taking three classes on top of working 50+ hours a week. So I see the cardiologist 3 times: to do a 24 EKG, an echogram and a consultation. The cardiologist says I have a perfectly healthy and normal heart. The cardiologist faxes the results to the new psychiatrist. This time the psychiatrist says she needs a noterized statement from him saying that I can take the specific medication. So I call them back and have that faxed over as well. After three months of being running around doing these tasks, my GPA fell 2 points, I've missed 4 days of work due to all the superfluous appointments, and I've spent a large amount of money that I didn't have: after all of this she says she won't put me back on my original medication. She essentially just wanted me to accept the medication that she wanted to prescribe me or make it so difficult to get the medication I was originally on that I would just quit and go somewhere else. She did this at the expense of my grades, my job performance, my time, and my money. She told face lied to me for months knowing full well that even if I did all these things she would still refuse to put me back on my original medication that I've been taking for almost twenty years. She does all of this with this condescending, smug, patronizing sense of self importance. Never in my entire life have I ever met someone so cold, inconsiderate and negligent of a patient's concerns and well being. What chuffed me the most was she pretended to do all of this stuff out of "concern" for me, even though after I had to EKGs and an echogram that said I was perfectly qualified for my medication she refused to prescribe it to me or even give a good reason why she wouldn't. Her name is Maria Ramar, and if you plan on seeing her or going to Catholic charities I implore you to literally see anyone else. What she did was absolutely shameful and irresponsible.
