I'm a big fan of Goodwill in general, but this particular location off Loop 410 is one of my favorites. They have a huge selection of gently used, reasonably priced merchandise, easily navigable aisles, and helpful, courteous staff. Whenever I visit a Goodwill, I make a beeline for the media section towards the back. Here you will find many goodies: beastly, bulky CRT TV's, woodgrained HiFi equipment from the 70's, tons of DVDs, and (if you're lucky) an occasional vintage video game console or computer from the late 70's/early 80's. This location features a huge selection of dirt-cheap VCR's, which I've used as passthrough devices to connect antique video game consoles to modern TV's. Shopping for clothes has never been my forte, but I've been impressed with their selection of menswear. If you're in the market for a $5 pair of gently worn Levi's, ties, or dress shirts, then swallow your pride and visit this location. You'll save a fortune and no one will know you purchased your ensemble from a thrift store. Before you leave, be sure to peruse the items housed in the display cases towards the front. On one occasion, I spotted two somewhat rare handheld video game systems for $10 each. Both the GameCom and the WonderSwan sell for considerably more online, so I made out like a bandit. The former is universally considered one of the worst systems of all time (hence its ironic popularity among retro gamers), and the latter was a Japanese product never released in North America. Unbeknownst to me, the WonderSwan came installed with a Japanese RPG game cartridge, which would have set me back at least $30 had I purchased it online. How Goodwill came in possession of either system is a mystery, but I dare not look a gift horse in the mouth. Regardless of your interests, you're bound to find at least something interesting every time you visit. When you're finished shopping, consider dropping by Leon Valley Cafe on Evers Road for a great home-cooked meal. See my review for more details.

My favorite thrift in the spot is the books. They are very reasonably priced and you can get quite a few or under a dollar, which is pretty impossible in a lot of other thrift stores. The staff here is friendly and helpful. They have a little boutique section in the front where they keep the newer clothing with tags, and more designer wise items. I do think some of their prices are on the higher end, which is disappointing when you're trying to get some affordable items. Clothing, however, it's usually reduced, so along with the books a good purchase. Not so much their purses, and some of their other accessories. It's worth a visit to search through their treasures and find some good thrifts. This is not my favorite thrift store, but it will be some of the goodwill prices in a pinch.

I realize thrift stores rely on donations, but several items we picked up were marked boutique but appeared more than lightly worn. Many of the clothing items were heavily worn and not in good repair. A necklace behind the counter was missing more than a few gems. The store is organized by categories but the lighting is awful, and makes it seem dirty even if it isn't, and there are dead ends/blocked aisles that require you to turn around and go the other way. Staff seemed friendly enough. I interacted 3 times with a young male teen and he seemed pretty low key minimal interaction but by the 3rd chat we hit it off to to speak. He's probably just slow to warm up. I did try on a few clothing items that I purchased. My friend also found something. But I don't think we will add this to our list of shops to frequent.

Specifically an old fossil listed for $50, a gold plated Nixon priced at $150 and a momentum m1 diver the st moritz edition priced all the way at $250! On Saturday when I was buying the watch I noticed the stop watch seconds dial wasn't working properly. Instead of resetting to 60 (0) the hand wouldn't go past 9 seconds. It wasn't too bid of a deal to me as I won't be doing much timing with the watch it was more for aesthetic purposes, so I told the employee I'd take it for 25. The strap needed to be replaced on it and obviously some gears weren't working in it. She called the owner and the owner told me to come back Monday that they would have it fixed and she wasn't going to go below 40. I show up Monday in between appointments and meet the owner. She's extremely rude to me off the back and acts like it's my fault that I don't speak Spanish (she doesn't speak English). She showed me the fossil and the stop watch dial wasn't still broken. In fact it was a little worse. She called her husband who I guess worked on it and he basically insinuated that I was lying and to give the phone to his wife to verify it wasn't working. She told him exactly what I did and they told me to come back tomorrow. No apology for wasting my time or anything. I tell her I want to talk about the m1 diver that I'm interested in it, that it was just over priced. I asked how she got her pricing and she said she did her own research. I also asked how long the watch had been in the case and she said it wasn't important. I thought this was a pawn shop where haggling is acceptable. A quick photo search of that watch told me 150 on eBay. The gold Nixon was only 112.50 brand new online! I tried to show her this but she just rudely brushed me off and told me 200 was the lowest she'll go. I told her I'm a repeat customer who's looking to buy a couple of things if she would just work with me. I guess she didn't want my money. ‍
