Why that may be is because it does not look like a business. It sits on a road that looks like a driveway to houses, and the building itself looks like it might be a garage. Once in the parking lot you realize that it is indeed a business and that they are open for business. Like most thrift stores there is an area outside for donations, like a drop box, but this one directly goes inside the building. Simple setup on the inside. The place looks rather small, but I will explain that later. The floor where all the items for purchase are located feels cramped, and a bit unorganized. The aisles are rather small and definitely can become congested. Going to put this out there guys, there is not much clothing items here for you. There is a larger ladies section and children section. But don't let that dissuade you from coming here. On top of the clothing you will find household items, toys, games, and small appliances. The list could go on. Now, back to the point where it feels cramped. The building is rather large so you would think that would equate to a bigger inside, well it is a bigger inside because it shares a space. It shares the space with a food pantry that serves the area. What you buy in the store portion helps fund the food pantry and other services they offer. Great place as it also provides cash assistance which can help cover rent, mortgage, or utility bills.

This isn't as bad of a store as it seems. I think the one thing we have to remember that Goodwill…read moreis only as good as the donations it receives. If it was in an affluent neighborhood, it'll be a better selection, if it's in a non-affluent area, the selection won't be as good. This location is kind of in between. Because of that, all the good stuff is picked over and you end up looking for a needle in a haystack here. It is rather larger on the inside than some have led you to believe, and it is well organized, but like I said, it can be sparse. This spot is kind hidden away near the mall. Actually I can remember years ago taking this shortcut bypassing downtown Greensburg and coming out here.

The manager Rachel is an unfit manager…read more.. I was politely inquiring about an article of clothing that was going to be processed for sale. I was met with two cashiers who were actually extremely positive and helpful but I can't say the same for the manager and the old gentleman who worked the back stockroom. I was told the item would be ready in an hour so I came back just to be told it would be another 30 minutes. I came back in 30 minutes just to be told it still wasn't ready. This is where I took it upon myself to ask the polite cashier if I could personally speak with the manager who was in the back. When I was attempting to speak with the manager, I was met with this older gentleman who was very confrontational and was raising his voice at me while I spoke calmly. I don't know if his tone was coming from a place of racism because I was merely trying to explain to him that ive been patiently waiting for 2 hours and he just progressively showed me more and more anger. Simplest words, he was a miserable human being. He told me the article of clothing would be ready in 20 minutes and then he immediately backtracked and said he doesn't want to have it ready for me. This man was nothing but a miserable energy and his behavior was unwarranted and he's clearly dealing with something deeper and taking it out on a customer that has nothing to do with his internal conflict. A relative of mine had called to ask if this clothing could be ready in the morning to be picked up... The manager Rachel apologized for the misconvenience and said the item could be picked up right now. I drove down and the lady had intentionally overpriced the item to $59.99 knowing fully well that I would be wasting my time and money on a trip just to see an overpriced item. There's a similar item at the time on the sales floor priced at $3.99. So it's no exaggeration that this manager is just being bitter and evil just like her coworker and this is a terrible way to represent a business. Having me come back 3 times to price a 3.99 item to 59.99 because they are in their states of negative emotions. That's just an evil human in my eyes. The fact someone like this manages a store is quite scary because that would be the recipe for a toxic work environment. My family has donated to this Goodwill for over 30 years and now that is coming to a quick end. Takes seconds to lose a customer and with this treatment I've wrote about, that's exactly what's happened all due to the miserable energy someone feels the need to project for whatever sad reason. God bless those kind cashiers, I hope they find themselves a better environment with a manager that knows kindness. If there's video and audio footage of the situation I would definitely recommend that corporate take a look at it and let themselves be the judge on the matter.

Over the past couple years, the whole place has become better organized and a lot cleaner. The prices and weekly deals are definitely better than they used to be. Friends carries a wide variety of items. The first floor is furniture, kitchen items, household decorations, toys, and books. Within the past year or so, someone has really stepped it up by staging living rooms and kitchen sets. Looks great! The second floor has clothes, shoes, purses, bedding, and more furniture. They have an elevator if you have difficulty doing steps. The clothing selection is mostly older stuff, but occasionally you can find some neat items. They do have a dressing room. Overall, Friends is a pretty good thrift shop, especially when you compare it to what it used to be. All of the volunteers are very friendly and helpful. A lot of locals come in and shop. Friends used to get a lot of organs and there was an elderly man that would come in and play old rag time music on them. There are some treasures to be had at Friends! They run weekly specials, so even if you do feel some items are overpriced, it will likely go on sale in the future anyway. You'll always have a good experience at Friends!

Seeing that you are always getting new merchandise to move. I appreciate that you don't take advantage of charging higher prices. I've been to Goodwill's & I can buy a $5.00 blouse brand new, at WalMart on clearance vrs GW that charges more for a donated blouse. How is that helping , folks with a lower income ?
