The Goodwill will take your donations and sell you others but don't expect to have access to a restroom. I will no longer donate anything or purchase anything until they open their restrooms to the public. I love this location a lot compared to the ones closer to the tacoma mall. The staff works hard to keep it organized and clean. The womens and juniors sections are mostly organized by size AND color which is very convenient to browse. I rarely find something hanging in the wrong spot, even during my occasional browse of the mens and kids clothing sections. The location is a lot smaller than the other ones in the area but I still find good stuff at good prices every time I come, which is at least once a month. The other nearby locations are less organized, less clean, and don't have as good of selections or deals read more

Went to goodwill to buy a Keurig plugged it in light come on took it home didn't work. Took it back expecting my money be put back on my credit card nope. They don't bother telling you if you want a refund goes on a gift card. I was pissed off and told the young guy that was nonsense I then had to shop and I do mean had to shop so I could get my money back another way. Didn't want anything from there so I found it ridiculous they make you shop there with their stupid gift card of junk. Found few things put on this card checked out and I had over $5 balance left and just told him to keep it and walked out. Most ridiculous and stupid shady thing I've ever seen to make someone get a gift card for taking something back that they sold didn't work and can't get my almost $30 back on original payment. I will never go there again and I will let all my friends and family know not to go there. read more

They sold me a pair of shoes for $10 and only one shoe has laces. I asked for a discount since I have to go buy laces now and they told me they couldn't. That they take into account the condition they are in and price them that way. I was like well what if someone took them off while shopping and they still couldn't help me. It's really hit and miss for me at this Goodwill. They've reduced some sections at the expense of others and that's usually men's clothes. I have never found anything here in the men's section that fits me. The section usually is very picked over and a lot of the items are either on the floor or dangling from the hangers. There do usually have a decent section of furniture. I've bought two bookcases at different times from here for a reasonable price and they have lasted and not fallen apart. The housewares department is pretty picked over as well, but there always seems to be a lot of small electronics like blenders and George Foreman grills or quesadilla makers. The people are nice though and they usually always have 2 people on the registers so the lines don't back up. Anyway I have been kind of sticking to the books and media section lately when I go because there is usually always something there I can take home. read more

Great Goodwill! I do both dropping off items and purchasing. It's a smaller sized Goodwill, and easy donation site. Today it was a long wait for dropping off donations, everyone must be doing their annual after-Christmas purge. It was a 5-10 minute wait in line for cars to drop-off. The attendants were very fast and polite. I'm thankful this location is near the Towne Center and convenient parking. The donation center accepts most household items and small furniture. They offer a tax-receipt that has a coupon for 30% off one item, if you choose to shop. I shopped on 12/28 and found a shirt for a party and items are always affordable at this location, as in, the shirt I found was less than $5. It's fun to treasure-hunt and I've found a lot of goodies here! read more

My experience here was pretty negative. The book section is not organized at all. I can forgive some amount of disarray, but the only section that actually had the books it said it should was the cookbooks. Nonfiction and fiction were all mixed together, despite there being separate signage. The clothing also showed a lack of organization, although not as bad as the books. On top of that, an employee very aggressively announced they were closing at 8pm starting at 7pm. Then again at 7:15. Then again at 7:25. And when I say "aggressively," I mean she practically yelled into the PA. It was obvious she wanted everyone out ASAP, and it made me feel rushed and unwelcome even when there was still an hour. My general impression was that the employees couldn't be bothered to maintain the store. That they had better things to do and better places to be, so f-- the customers. read more

This is a newer, smaller Goodwill. If you are a "Goodwill goer", you know they've been expanding a lot. While not the smallest branch I've seen, this is nowhere as big as the 38th or Portland Ave stores. Gems do show up here. If you're looking for kid's clothes, they usually have a good selection. I like this store and I was happy when Goodwill moved into a space that had been occupied by a thrift outlet that was so dirty and unorganized, I rarely went there. The staff (in store and at donations) has always been friendly and helpful. I have been reading some of the one star ratings. Books and clothing don't stay organized because customers move them. Most items at Goodwill are used. Customers are responsible to inspect an item before they purchase. If an item is damaged, don't buy it. If an item is priced too high, don't buy it. Goodwill staff is not responsible for a customer's poor purchasing decision. I am not happy about the amount of new merchandise that the store stocks. Most of it doesn't seem to be a deal. I don't buy it. I would like to see more small furniture items but I understand that Goodwill has to restrict what they can accept sometimes. Donation policies are posted on site and on-line. Donation staff can't accept items that are restricted. If I am unsure, I show them the item and ask. This isn't a new stock retail establishment. Most items are used and the staff manages a huge and varied inventory. They won't always have what you are looking for. It makes finding that special something a happy thing. Be realistic, responsible, patient, and polite. You will have a much better experience. read more

I've been here twice in the past 2 months or so and both times it was a true pleasure. I was greeted promptly upon my entry~ and it was a friendly greeting! My first stop was right at opening and I was looking for some specific things for my new place. Everything was so clean and organized, I have never seen a Goodwill this well maintained! I found a few treasures and some of the items on my list. My second visit was not as productive for treasure, but the store was still in great condition- and this was the middle of the day. There is ill will at the Lakewood, WA Good Will. They get their stuff for free but refused to refund me for a defective item. I had bought some boots that looked good and fit good and some other stuff. I was going to wear the boots the next day and noticed a crack in one sole. I flexed it and several cracks appeared completely through one sole and the other one as well. I had lost my receipt so I printed a copy of the pending credit card transaction from my credit card website. I brought it and the other items I had bought back to prove the amount on the statement. I explained what happened and said I was willing to accept a store credit. The manager said they could not give a refund without a receipt and that the policy was on the receipt. Unfortunately I had not read but believe I had shown sufficient proof of purchase. Fool me once shame on you. This is a sleazy practice. I am loath to donate to or buy anything again from "Ill Will" and would advise others to do likewise. read more

I am so disgusted with this store. For years, over 20 I have shopped at Goodwill stores, and other thrift stores. As an inventor I am always looking for one obscure item, or other at a bargain. I really don't mind things that do not work. I fix them, or salvage it. In the last year the prices have exploded to over retail prices on new items! I just left the store a 25 year old pizza oven 50 bucks. An ariel drone 20 bucks that doesn't work, available on Amazon new for 35 bucks. Wheres the bargain? For 15 bucks more I could have got the version that was not broken, and if it was I could return it. Goodwill boo on you. You lost my business, you lost my support, I'll never step foot in your establishments again. This is a wonderful goodwill! Cute vintage toys mixed in with your modern and, for some reason, lots of nib today. Seemed like tar-jay made a donation of clearance items. I left behind an iPad cover and regret it as the day goes by...maybe I will stop in to get it soon. Book section was superb compared to my old good will in Colorado. Left with two gap kids items, one hatley raincoat that retails for 52.99 on their current website, a Ann Taylor loft sweater, and matching bead necklace. All for 25.00. Trust me I got have grabbed 25.00 more. Great experience. I will be back! read more

The site of this location used to be a Bargains Only Thrift Store, which was a cool little thrift store, and you never knew what you were going to find there. However, when Goodwill announced they were going to build a store on the location I was ecstatic; i'm 28 years of age, but I am a thrift store fanatic, I enjoy going to Goodwills, Value VIllages, and other thrift stores. I've actually found some good deals here; like a really nice San Diego Clippers buttoned shirt(an NBA team which is now in Los Angeles) and some Ducktales DVDs for way cheaper then they would be at a regular store. The staff here is amazing. Always stocking racks and making sure you move through the lines quickly upon check out. The guys in the back/collection site are great too! They come to your car and help retrieve items that might be wedged in your trunk or to heavy for one person to lift. I used to come in about 1 a month with several donation items (bags of clothing, shoes, household items, etc..) and they would offer a 30% off voucher..now they don't. This is to bad considering it kept me coming back. I would purchase a cart full of merchandise and then a month or two later donate it back. I was going through weightloss after surgery and this was the best way to get new clothing for a fresh look and then donate the gently used items back...No I might come in once or twice a month instead of weekly. Please consider bringing this feature back to the reaccuring customers like myself! Also, your purses are a bit high in price. read more

This is a great store. I've been going there since it opened. The staff is very friendly and the store is very clean. 10% Discount off your entire purchase-- Every Tuesday for Senior day (55 yrs.+) and every Wednesday is Military day. Very thoughtful of them to give these discounts. Also, on Sunday and Monday 2 diff. colored tags are on sale. 1 color is 50% off and the other is $1.29- Super Deals!!! so there are opportunities for everyone to save alittle. All the sizes are neatly organized so you don't have to spend hours sorting through the clothes. My only complaints~ 1.) For a store that is more than 90% clothing there is never a store clerk Attentive to the customers who are wanting to use the dressing rooms. They have a cashier Stationed 10 feet from the dressing rooms with their backs turned to it. You can stand there with a cart load of clothing waiting for the dressing rooms and no one will ever acknowledged you. You must interrupt and ask the cashier to open a dressing room and you often are regarded with an attitude of inconvenience for it. Ultimately it comes down to bad management. What is your major source of income in the store? Clothing. What's the major percentage of people coming into the store to shop? Women. What do women do when they shop for clothes? Try them on before they buy them. Ultimately management needs to implement better processes for the customers who are there buying. I would love to give the store more than a one star review because I do shop here often. But this one issue happens every single time I come here. read more

I have been donating items to your Goodwill store located at 6002 Mount Tacoma Dr. SW, Lakewood, WA 98499 since 1991. In the past your employees were helpful and courtesy. On 21 June 2014 at 8:30 am I drove up to the drop-off area to donate several boxes of items. I got out of my car and went to get a plastic cart to put the boxes on. Before I knew it one of your employees rushes out of the building and jerks the cart out of my hand! And then he started mumbling words I could not understand. On 28 June 2014 at 9:00 am I went to your same store. There are two lanes for the drop-off. In the far right lane was a full-size Ford pick-up truck full of items. The same employee was assisting the customer unload the truck. I drove my car to the left lane. There were no other customers. Immediately the same employee became disrespectful and belligerent! He told me I could not use that lane. I ask him where was the sign. He told me there was no sign and told me never to use that lane again!!! Long story short, I will never donate to your organization again! Furthermore, I'm filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and the State of WA Attorney Generals Office. Harry S. Bought a used Korean workbook for only $1.99! (Korean conversation 2) What a surprise find. The book prices are more expensive than from library book sales, but still worth checking out. No refunds or exchanges on books though, so be careful. I always try to look at the books, board games, and electronics when I come to Goodwill. You'll usually find a bunch of cookbooks, Twilight and other young adult books, Scene It DVD games, Monopoly, etc. Sometimes they have sales, so check out their calendar. read more
