My favorite place to take and to donate older, but still viable and thus usable pants, suits, sport coats and anything else that has some value or use to another. You drive in, and then under the covered overhang you will be there where quickly someone will appear with a large canvas rolling cart. If you want a receipt for the tax man, they usually ask, but if they don't, it is your choice. This time, I did not ask for a tax donation receipt for the two pairs of pants, a suit, a sport coat and one pair of shorts. I went to North Charleston for specific item in mind and this place has what I need. I was looking for shoes that is in the 1920's theme and good will has it. This goodwill is well organized, clean, and the check out was fast too. Good job palmetto goodwill! read more

Crushed it today -- completely unintentionally I can assure you. While out exploring, looking for things--nothing I can quantify specifically, yet looking, scouting if you will. I cross paths with a Goodwill and needing a tee shirt that is not black, in I go. Looking at racks upon racks of someone else's stuff isn't particularly appealing to me. It was just then that I spotted one, than another, then two more. As to not get I to the nitty gritty of what may be my preferences, I'll just say that I bought fourteen of them -- and a Snake Eyes 56*. As a shopper, I'd give this location 3 stars. I've been in here looking for costumes, books, and other nearly-new items. They don't have as wide of a selection as I would have hoped, and things are priced higher than other stores. As a donor, they get 5 stars. There is never a line to donate (unlike some other Goodwill locations), and employees will actually help get items out of my car for donation one-by-one and with care. read more

Goodwill Stores in Johns Island is a great place to find clothing, home goods, and other cool items at a great value. I really like how this store is organized as everything is in its own section and I can easily find exactly what I am looking for and put my hands on it. I like how there is always new items coming in every day so you never know what to expect and what will be there as there will always be more than one item that you will not be able to walk away from. The staff here is genuinely friendly and helpful and very cool to the customers. I like that the checkout process is very quick and efficient and even if you get a lot of different items you know the total will not be that much. Overall this is a well run Goodwill. read more

I love Goodwill in general. I love going in and finding things in my size for everyday, or for costumes. This Goodwill is the LEAST organized store I have ever been in. I specifically went in looking for a pair of black pants. All of the black pants are in the same section, but the sizes are not separated. I had to look through the ENITRE selection to realize they didn't have anything in my size. Every other goodwill I've been in will separate things based on small, medium, large, xl. I can go to the medium section and breeze through it in a few minutes. It took me so long to flip through the pants, find a pair that I liked the feel of, search for the size that I lost any energy to look through anything else. I became so exhausted that I just gave up and went to Ann Taylor for my black pants and other shopping wants. I didn't even have the energy to go to another goodwill. :( I'm not sure about the staff as I didn't buy anything and no one greeted me on coming into the store. read more

Goodwill is always fun and this one is one of my favorites. I've been thrifting, or "poppin' tags" long before the song and before it was cool. This store has lots of name brands but sometimes you find some crazy clothes in the mix too! Yeah, you can come here for "tacky sweater party" or Halloween costumes but you can also find pricey clothes, especially if you're a small size. The kids selection is great too. I think the donors are mostly from Kiawah/Seabrook area due to location, and shopping at any thrift store is all about location/donors. The general manager of the store is really nice too... he tries to greet the customers and also makes energetic loudspeaker announcements. You can tell he loves his job and wants you to have a good experience at Goodwill, that's another thing that separates this thrift store from others in the area. read more

I accidentally dropped off a valuable sentimental item when donating. Came back less an hour later and they can't find it. They weren't able to tell me when things will go on the floor, when they could find it, or anything. It should be sitting right on top of something. I explained exactly what I dropped off and everything that was in there. They won't let you go look yourself and the manager was rude and wouldn't let me speak. She kept cutting me off and frankly was very rude. Obviously it was a mistake and it's a sentimental item so she could have been NICE and helpful. But I got no information and an attitude. One of the employees even came over to me and said we couldn't find your "blue bag".... I was looking for a grey tote!! Completely unacceptable. I won't be donating anything here anymore. I called corporate and filed a complaint. When asking for the store manager I was told he wouldn't be in until tomorrow. My item could be gone, sold, or taken by then. In my experience as an avid thrifter, goodwills are hit or miss. This is probably my favorite goodwill in Charleston, right up next to the Johns Island location. I've found my best secondhand clothes from this location. From time to time, I'll score on other random items, books, Pyrex cookware, etc. The staff is friendly here, though the crew that works receiving donations always look like they hate their jobs (and I drop stuff off a lot-this is a frequent observance). Who am I to judge though? It's not usually busy on weekdays when I go. Sometimes things are overpriced and it's disappointing, but i find that to be a flaw of Goodwill in general and don't hold it against this location. read more

A great place to find great vintage clothes and more than 6 colors of XXXL t-shirts (not the biggest size). You can find an occasional beautiful painting or worthless print with a great frame. There are also enough sets and pieces of pottery/china/Tupperware to full in your missing pieces from your Walmart/Costco or the occasional Tiffany settings. Also crap. Super friendly service men. They have special deals at certain times. They call out over the loud speaker. Very large store with a lot of clothes. You need around three dollars in your pocket to buy clothes here. It was busy and seemed to have regulars. read more

after spending a lot of time tracking an item on the floor with no tag .. inquired all over the place to find the price and FINALLY WAS TOLD IT HAD BEEN SOLD but STILL on the floor.. what a disgrace.. good items and all mostly overpriced esp the pictures which are dime store .. and a waste of precious time on this earth.. undwrstand the big guy CEO has a Tont Take if 1.5 million .. Went there today and got to register and they had to call the manager because cashier said no this is way to cheap manager comes up and peels the top price off that said1.99 and said no this is the right price which was 14.99 I said well I didn't do that she said I know so I told her I don't mind paying that if all the pieces to the game are there she said no I can't guarantee that I said that's why I'm willing to pay 1.99 because if not I am going to throw it away she said no gotta pay 14.99 I said no thanks and walked out very sad for something they got for free plus they both made me feel like I was trying to pull the price swap on them like I'm a thief rude employees never going back for sure read more

I occasionally drop items by the Main Road store. The last two times I have had the same unfriendly man "greet" me, tell me what they won't take (including a few large well maintained toys which I think they could at least give away to a deserving kid), does not thank me for what they can take and looks at me like I am stealing when I ask for a receipt. No doubt Goodwill does great things but as a management tip, I'd put the most friendly person out there to greet donors. I won't go back. Entrance and exit are well designed and drop off is fast, especially when you take a good percentage back home with you. read more

Pretty good store, lots of name brand selections at great prices. More women's clothes than men's. An ok selection of furniture, as far as a Goodwill goes. Lots of crippy crap things, ie popcorn machines, book ends, toasters, cd players, etc... read more

We have been to many Goodwill stores in several states. Some are better than others. This one is expertly organized and very clean. It offers mostly clothing but there is also a smaller section of household items. I'm very impressed with the way it's organized. Prices are very reasonable. So far, this is one of the best thrift stores I've seen in this area. read more
