If you want to skip the story and just read a review please skip until you see **. Through the years my wife always told me how awesome thrift store are so I finally took her up on her word and visited the Goodwill on Decker Blvd. We were there for maybe 10 minutes when I noticed an employee stocking items from a shopping cart onto the shelves. I noticed something near the bottom but wasn't quite sure what I was seeing so I stuck around her area as she stocked items. As she cleared items I was able to get a better look and to my amazement I saw a very ornate Cuckoo Clock. She picked up the box with the clock in it and placed it on a shelf. It took me approximately .00053 seconds to grab it! The clock was brand new without even a piece of dust on it. It seemingly had every part so I closed the box and brought it to my wife. As I was showing off my find I noticed the price of approximately $5.00. A cuckoo clock for 5 bucks, even if its a cheap knock off with a battery powered movement you can't complain about 5 bucks. When we got home I laid out the clock and all the contents of the box, to my surprise everything was there including the owners manual that I didn't see earlier. I was elated to say the least until I saw the address printed on the paperwork... my jaw dropped when I saw that this clock was from the Black Forest in Germany. After some research I found out this clock was in fact a genuine Black Forest Cuckoo clock that usually sells for $300-$400 new. I told my wife the news and about my new hobby of going to thrift shops every weekend. She just laughed and said this is a very very rare occurrence and that in over 10 years of her going to thrift shops she had never even come close to a find like this. Of course I thought otherwise so we spent the next month going to every store in the Greater Columbia area to no avail... she was right it was just beginners luck lol. I won't complain though because in the end we have a Genuine hand made Black Forest Cuckoo Clock that we paid all of $5.00 for and it works perfectly. We did put together boxes of clothing and household items and donated them to attempt to make up some of the difference.... I felt a little bad getting such a great deal lol. **Now, aside from my story here is the review on the store. There is plenty of parking out front and its a great shopping plaza. The store has been clean and clutter free the half dozen times we've been there. Its actually much more organized than many other thrift shops in the area. There is a huge area with tons of clothing, if i had to guess I'd say about 75% of the store is dedicated to clothing and shoes. They do have furniture but depending on the day or time of year there could be lots of furniture or almost none. The back wall and the back half of the left and right walls have shelves stuffed with miscellaneous items, this is where I found the clock. There is just a vast array of items that you'll likely find at least 1 item you'd find interesting or useful enough to purchase. I don't think we've left there without purchasing at least 1 item per trip. The employees we've dealt with were all very courteous and willing to help. All in all this is my favorite location in Northeast Columbia and we frequent this store quite often as health and time permits. Good luck and good hunting!

Visited this thrift store for their big annual discount sale. The back half of the store (old…read morewarehouse) reeks of cigarette smoke. It was impossible to determine if the smell was coming from something inside the large room (i.e., furniture, rugs, items, etc.) or if that was just the way it always smelled. They keep the children's toys and items in this part of the store, among many other things. I've had severe asthma my whole life, so even just being in that room was enough to make me start coughing. They have so much of their own decor that it can be confusing when trying to figure out what is actually for sale and what belongs to the store. Additionally, the store does not individually price a large amount of items (which are clearly for sale!) which is very frustrating (some areas have signs w/prices, others do not). Items that have been priced, vary greatly. For example, a very cheap purse might be listed at $20+ while a name brand purse is listed at $8. They have a section of designer/name brand items that is also marked up significantly. It would make sense if their prices were a fraction of what the item cost brand-new, but they're out here charging $35+ for very used leggings! And they weren't even Lululemon! The cashier was disengaged and barely acknowledged shoppers, despite the long line. It takes .10 seconds to make eye contact and greet a person. There are so many better, more reasonably priced stores in the area, so this is a no for me.

I called the store back within a hour of the purchase to see what we could do. The store wouldn't even give store credit and take it back to let some else buy it that it would work for. Tough to lose a brand new customer over $6 even with the return of the item still pristine. I'm sure I would have spent more money in the return as my wife wanted to go back to purchase a curtain rod and curtain for our guest room.
