They will sometimes ask you what you are donating and lightly inspect it. They have also rejected some baby items I've tried to donate (anything a baby can sit in isn't accepted). That is fine. The only reason I haven't given 5 stars though is because staff aren't very nice or friendly some of the time. I have donated here several times. They are okay though.

I first came here after learning Trader Joe's donated less than perfect flowers here.... $3.50 a bouquet and $1.00 for greens. I have never been much of a flower buyer because I'm frugal to a fault. But this is really fun. For less than the cost of a small pumpkin spice latte, I can buy my mom flowers. They also have several items that other thrift stores don't.... they have a furniture section (mostly nicer, quality antique style), and they have mobility aids (wheel chairs, walkers, etc). They have fun stuff to look at, like earrings and things, that are easily accessed with staff help. At very large goodwill stores, it can take forever to look at something behind the counter. While they don't have the biggest selection of clothes, I feel like they are a bit curated. I picked 3 shorts off the rack this summer, and they've been my summer go-tos. They also send a lot of the TJ flowers to the hospice patients. And the employees are positive, kind, and funny. Better than Disneyland if you love the dopamine hit of a good bargain!

Unlike that person below, I've worked and feed homeless people on through the holidays. I talked and spoke to them about their lives and how they came to be. Yes, most of them were drugged out but when you take the time to hear their stories, only then can you understand. For example: A man I spoke to was in tears telling his story, his wife was the breadwinner of their family. He was the caretaker of their home and family. She left with the family and got in a fatal accident which left him scrambling to maintain their house and cars He lost everything....house, cars, and his whole family. Being the caretaker of the family, getting a job at 50 is hard with limited employment (since he worked on the house and family all the time) When someone is depressed and living on the streets, its just a matter of time before that person is easily convinced, drugs will take the pain away. That goes for emotional and hunger. Places like this give broken people a chance. Whether its from unfortunate events or very bad choices. Yes, some are far from being healed and recovered but you start giving up on those people, you'll end up giving up on everyone. Dumb comment below - think about it - your scared of criminals and drug addicts. What if places like this didn't exist? They have no drugs and they are starving....where would they go? Oh yeah, that's right, to your back door breaking into your home. Clearly your so naive, your more of a problem to our society then these homeless people.

There are actually 2 ReNew stores, one focused on home goods and decor type of items and the other is clothing, shoes, and smaller items. 100% of the profits from these stores goes directly to their program that helps women and children out of poverty and homelessness. This thrift store isn't like a Goodwill, not big, not "corporate" and so I feel that it's much more personable. Everything is tasteful and nicely organized and they even tell you it's "curated" on their website. ReNew sells new and gently used clothes, shoes, accessories, kitchenware and especially some nice sets of fine china (see pics), arts and crafts, card and board games, books, dvds, some smaller electronics and home appliances as well as upcycled home decorations, housewares, furniture, etc. They really do sort and quality control their items, as I can see that their new and gently used, high-end and name brand fashion are all high quality. Some of the items are kind of overpriced for what they are being used, but most items are at "low-thrift boutique" prices, and for a good cause so it's definitely a great place to shop. They have a list of items they accept for donations as well as what they don't accept. So this is a great place to shop to support as well as to give to if you have used items you want to donate.

All the sizes are separated well without being mixed up. There wasn't a lot of things cluttered on the shelves or on the floors. They keep the bathrooms locked and they were fairly clean. I can appreciate them having a sharps container so if sharps are being used they don't end up on the floor or anywhere else. Overall we found some good stuff. I just wish the employees were nicer. The lady that did end up helping us was kind and helpful. Maybe everyone was just having a rough day.
