Recommend: Absolutely. Really quite impressed as far as the Goodwill companies go. Having seen so many Goodwill's across the country, what is impressive is both inside as well as outside. The entire buildings, exterior and interior were immaculately clean beyond my surprise. The interior looks like a professional department store, which I commend the management for ensuring such a professional look. To be honest, many Goodwill stores just simply look, very, very poor visually. I do recommend this place because they balance their articles being used and several new items as well culturing costs straight to the public. The coordination of all items for clothing with the rack toppers being neatly aligned with all the shoes, clearly shows effort and coordination at this facility.

Goodwill is awful to their employees

This has to be one of the worst organizations in America today. I tried today to donate an almost new General Electric clothes washer and they would not accept it. Whatever reason they might give me, I can't find any reasonable explanation why a charity wouldn't accept charity. I saw that they sell stuff for $1 to $3 and take up room this washer they could have easily sold for over $150 to $200. The CEO made over $1.2 million last year while paying their employees minimum wage.

The bigotry at still prevailing. Still getting the same nasty looks. I was told to leave my camelbak water hydration pack behind the counter (filled with Gatorade) very abruptly. I look around and saw three other individuals wearing large backpacks and nothing was said to them. I don't know why they seem to target certain people they feel are morally unacceptable.... I travel a lot picking thrift stores and estate sales and it seems only Chula Vista I get these horrible vibes from. One would think they would welcome frequent buyers with money but they seem to be operating in another universe. It really comes down from the top management who creates a pleasant shopping experience or a negative one.

Found treasure!

Little long post but worth it. I've been thriftin at this Goodwill for awhile. It always looks clean and has great displays. Recently noticed how the new employees there are very helpful and super nice. My daughter got her first apartment and we wanted to see what we could find. As soon as we walked in there was a interesting glass bubble lamp and wanted to test it. A very helpful young man named Mikey located light bulbs so we could check it. I think he must've brought 2 -3 different ones because it wasn't working. Unfortunately it was the lamp. He immediately asked us if we still wanted it, took it to his manager and gave us a discount. We happily purchased it hoping it would be a easy fix. Two other employees also happily helped us with other items we found. Checking out now Mikey wrapped our treasure securely and even offered help out. Great news got the lamp home and re-wired it good as new. Thank you all for a great experience at your store, we'll definitely be back!

Went to Goodwill store again. I was looking for picture frames. There were a lot but none of them I like. I see a lot of wall decors. I was looking for something white. I was also looking for toys for my grandchildren's sister. They have the biggest Goodwill store as far as I know because I've been to some stores in San Diego county. There is a 10 % discount to Military, teacher student and Senior. They also have 20% VIP discount.

Goodwill Chula Vista East Retail Store - BAD CASHIER!!!

Prices are outrageous!!! But I always find really cool stuff at this goodwill…read more The staff is amazing, they're always so friendly and helpful.

Let me start by saying I frequently purge / declutter household items to make room for new items…read more Everyone I encounter at the donation center are always nice. The one star rating is due to Goodwill's new method for receipts. On Tuesday, Oct 27, 2026, I went to drop off donations. I needed a receipt for tax purposes. Instead of the usual paper receipt, they require you to scan a QR code. I told Brandon I'm really not comfortable with that and asked for a paper receipt. Brandon said they don't use them anymore. He said he'll walk me through it. After you scan the QR code it takes you to Goodwill's online form. You have to type in your info on all required fields, describe the items donated then click "submit". Brandon said, "Do not close the form until you see the receipt, otherwise you will lose the receipt". The problem with Goodwill's new method is ... when I clicked "submit", it just kept spinning and never produced my receipt. I live approx ten minutes away, so I held my cellphone open and thought once I get home and have WiFi, it will finally stop spinning and produce the receipt. Nope! I redid the form again while using WiFi and clicked "submit", but it still would not produce my receipt. So I called Goodwill and spoke with the Manager, Jeanie, in the donation drop off area. I explained the issue with their new method and requested that they email me a receipt because I need it for tax purposes. Jeanie said I have to sign the receipt, so she is unable to email it. She said I need to drive back to obtain a paper receipt. I said I requested a paper receipt from Brandon, but he said Goodwill no longer uses them. Since Goodwill had paper receipts, Brandon should have provided me with one when I requested it. What an absolute inconvenience that I had to drive back to Goodwill. Both Jeanie & Brandon came out to speak with me. Brandon asked to see my cellphone, to check if I completed the form correctly. Yes, I filled out all of the required fields correctly, but their new system did not work properly. Not everyone is comfortable using their new system. I'm a senior citizen and I know of other senior citizens that are not comfortable with it either. Goodwill should continue to provide paper receipts to customers when requested, instead of requiring customers to utilize their flawed new method. Had Brandon just provided me with a paper receipt per my request, this could've been avoided and I wouldn't be submitting this review.

I moved nearby last November & brought my deemed "excess" to donate at their drive-thru, but then…read morepopped into the shop as a lark.... And WOW- am I glad I did! My daughter was having an eclectic wedding reception & I began seeing- & soon after, collecting- colorful glassware & table decor. Decided to GO GREEN for her party as I was able to find tons of gorgeous & phenomenally priced goodies... got nothing but enthusiastic praise & compliments at the event last week. Spent only a FRACTION of what I'd pay elsewhere, even some shall-remain-nameless thrift stores. Even better, now there's a neighborhood shop where "everybody knows my name" ;p, I can just relax a bit & browse (and cool off!), where Eddie & Marcus warmly greet me as I wander in, Manager Jose' stops to welcome me with a bit of chitchat as he sees me perusing, & my two favorite redheads, Crystal & Zodiac compliment me on my "new" dress or enthusiastically point out some treasure they've just put out that they KNOW I'll love. I really admire Jose' for creating such a warm & welcoming environment, note his (always)respectfulness towards his staff, & kindness toward all his shoppers; very much appreciate the friendly helpfulness of the entire gang. I encourage you to stop by and find a thrift store where you can actually still find "the good stuff" at affordable prices- & I'll see you there!
