GoodTemps/GoodWill Finding employment with the above mentioned employer is not the problem but the things they do to an individual once employed is "cruel and inhumane". I went from one agency to another where they literally play games to set the employee up on false allegations. I could write a book. At one agency I worked with an employee at the HRA Medicaid division (daughter) and 2 1/2 years later was sent to another agency (DOT) and worked with the mother who was determined to destroy my character until an employee at HRA met me in the park to tell me they are doing all they can to literally destroy me. I reported the issue but nothing ever became of it. I do think other agencies that protect employees should look into what happens to employees from these agencies and apply strict rules and regulations. I want to work and to show due diligence as I have my BA degree and Masters and maybe that was the problem. Jealousy and afraid I would want their position. No, not in the least. read more

I worked for GoodTemps for 2 assignments at city agencies. They are great until you are placed to a position. Once you are placed, forget about getting any assistance or support. Especially if you have a medical condition or disability - which they proudly promote helping. During my last position I became disabled due to my medical condition. I informed Goodtemps immediately in order to get assistance/ information to go on medical leave. For days, I got no response. I had to send several emails and make several phone calls to get them to response. In the end I had to figure out what needs to be done and I informed them how they should proceed. Before my medical leave ended, I again informed them that my leave is ending and that I requested returning to work. Again- no response for days except for a generic "Thank you. We got your email and respond asap." No asap response of course. After waiting for weeks, now having no income on top of a serious illness, I contacted them again, please urging to respond for now that I was in deep financial hardship and struggling, again all I got was that same "Thank you. We got your email and respond asap." Guess what? No response ever again. In the meantime despite my disability, I was able to get a job interview at the city agency I was working as a temp, I was hired and I now have a permanent job. It was the best thing that I could tell Goodtemps to please terminate my employment (they still haven't responded to my return to work request after a month at that point). They couldn't respond to my return to work request for a month, but it didn't take long to terminate my employment. It was resolved within days. How convenient. So, again it is true that they might help you to be placed at a good position but after that you are on your own. If you ever end up working for Goodtemps, beware of their negligence and ignorance. read more

Afterwards with only receiving a auto-reply confirmation of receiving my information, I never received a follow-up phone call from a human being for a personal invitation to meet with a recruiter to discuss my professional background. Trying to get placed for tech support/desktop/deskside/etc in 2009 was impossible. However I was able to get a few interviews from them. Their self-testing resources are great (I wish I'd used them more). If you think a job is a right and it's they're supposed to do all the work like you're ordering from A____n, you'll be disappointed by every agency. I was referred to GoodTemps by another agency. Being "disadvantaged", I was supposedly among the first priority. But since February, I have received two assignments -- one day, and six weeks. When I went to my one day assignment, I couldn't find the place. Multiple phone calls to my on-site supervisor went unanswered and it was an early Saturday morning so there was nobody at the office either. My second assignment sent me to work the next day, lasted me six weeks, though I had to abruptly quit with seven weeks left on the assignment. Without going into personal details, I felt the recruiter (?) understated the requirements of the job that I stated I would have problems with and after six weeks it took its toll on me. I received maybe five calls asking if I was interested in an assignment, only to hear "we'll send them your resume" and nothing else after that. I applied to quite a few of their online postings (which are limited) only to get nothing but an automated email response. Earlier this week I called the office to touch base. There was no answer during office hours so I left a message which has still gone unanswered. They did put me to work at a wage I never would've gotten otherwise, and they can be a great help getting on your feet if you're disadvantaged. But don't hold your breath waiting for an assignment. read more

I would have given them more stars, had it not been for the issues I've had with payroll. My checks have often been delayed or lost. I cannot get direct deposit because of an issue with my name spelling. I spoke to two payroll employees who were unprofessional and rude. I have asked for a person to speak with over the two employees with NO RESPONSE. Good temps placed me in a great, but at first very difficult position. The process of applying was not bad. This is an agency that caters to those who are disabled. That doesn't mean you have to be an ex con or crackhead (as someone else stated). It offered the perfect opportunity for someone who was on Social Security Disability to try to get back in the workforce after several years. read more

WTF?! If you notice you're not getting hired when you apply for other positions and you have them on your resume, they're the reason why. Old employers aren't supposed to ruin your chances to obtain other employment in order to take care of you and your family but they will. (Believe me, they're bad mouthing you to potential employers which is against the law.) GoodTemps my arse! They have the nerve to give you a member for life card, HA! Don't waste your time, you have to have a disability to work through their agency, it could be something such as hypertension, arthritis, etc. If you don't have to, DON'T waste your time with these arses! You have to get a letter from your doctor stating you have whatever condition, running back and forth, and on top of all of that, they DON'T even offer health insurance for their employees, what a crock of shi+!!!!! I used to donate clothing to Goodwill back in the day, but I never will again, there are many other places you can donate to. read more

The website may function on some computers and browsers but it has never, for years, loaded up properly on mine. The agency seems to have far too many clients in comparison to the jobs they offer. I reported the website was malfunctioning twice in the past few years yet they seemed to take no interest in this information neglected to correct the tech problem. The staff claimed they would put me on a referral list. When I telephoned to remind them and reiterate their website was not loading properly I was informed that the reason they never sent me listings was that I had never applied for a listed job (which they knew I had no access to using my computer). Good Temps fails to address the needs of long-term unemployed citizens and seems to soak up lots of taxpayer dollars that are wasted on typical non-profit self-serving dysfunctionality. Like so many badly managed "helping profession" operations Good Temps operates as if it is not part of the pro-success, get-it-done, entrepreneurial culture of the United States. Apparently, the woman in the NJ office doesn't have her act together to be able to help anyone do anything. I seriously don't know how they make money out there. Waste of time. Just don't do it. What an ironic name! It should be WORSTtemps. Although some were nice, they were overshadowed my rude and very fake trying-be-nice employees. Some people are just not meant to be in the reception area. One receptionist was very strict about asking if you have an appointment, before even asking what you are there for. She makes you sit down and wait for hours, even though you are just there to sign one line that will take two seconds. I understand things can get busy and will disrupt the other staff's work but the receptionist has to learn that there are exceptions to the rule and have some flexibility. This place is awful. The office is dirty and cramped, the computers are from the Stone Age, and the staff are sloppy, unprofessional, and mumble. The fact that 3 associates share an office and you're forced to interview while others are also being interviewed in the same room tells you off the bat that this place has limited means. I almost walked out when I saw the quality, or I should lack there of, of the other people waiting to be interviewed-- they were the most ignorant, uneducated, unprofessional people ever and the staff were not much better. I was going to give GoodTemps one star, based on the absolutely abysmal experience I had during my interview there. As others have said, the staff is sloppy, unprofessional and flat-out rude while the surroundings are filthy and cramped. However, I will give them an extra star because they are a non-profit organization, connected with Goodwill. Presumably they are the temp agency of last resort for ex-convicts, homeless people and others who need work but who may have a variety of disadvantages. Since I'm not part of that target market, I can't really slam them for not being what I needed. If you're expecting an immediate assignment - don't hold your breath because you'll be sorry you did. I applied around the fall of 2014 and wasn't offered an assignment till 2015 where I worked a year. And remember, all assignments are temp with a very microscopic chance of it turning into a full time assignment. I say this because you'll most likely be sent to a government agency that usually requires you to take an exam before you can be considered. Since my assignment ended, with good reviews, I still haven't been contacted for another assignment that matches my skill set. When I first got to NYC, I contacted multiple temp agencies to schedule a registration appointment. Despite working for OfficeTeam for many summers back in AZ, none of their locations or any other temp agency called me. GoodTemps replied quickly to schedule my registration appointment. After that fast response and registration, they have continued to reach out to me quickly and efficiently. Since my registration with GoodTemps, I've only gone about a week or so without employment. Currently, I'm on a long term temp position with a NYC goverment agency. Their Placement Department was able to help me find one of the best jobs I've ever had. The work experience is relevant to my career goals, the pay and location are great for my situation, and I may go permanent in the near future. I definitely appreciate all of the help that GoodTemps was able to give me when none of the other NYC temp agencies would even return my call. Their facilities aren't the fanciest, but I like their nonprofit mission and the constant outreach their employees have given me. I also like the convenience of their online capabilities - testing, timecards, even new positions are all available online. read more

I've dealt with many employment agencies in recent years, GoodTemps is by far the worst. I wish I could give zero stars because that's what this place and it's staff deserves. I also don't expect much from employment agencies, especially given the current economic climate, and I understand that job seekers must go the extra mile to secure any kind of employment, whether it be permanent or temporary. I also understand that they are a non-profit, which I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. However, GoodTemps was so unprofessional and unresponsive, it really stood out as being a complete waste of my time and for the frustration I endured. First, the interview was very unprofessional. I scored well on their assessment tests. Instead of an actual interview about my work skills, capabilities and what I'm looking for in my job hunt, my "counselor" simply threw a bunch of paperwork at me to sign and was very aloof the entire time. In addition, the whole atmosphere felt very - low class - which is the best term I can come up with to describe the overall atmosphere of GoodTemps and the agent I met with. It literally felt like I was at what one would stereotypically associate with the DMV rather then a professional employment agency. In terms of checking in for work, after my first and only meeting, my counselor was completely unresponsive...and I mean completely unresponsive. I was never able to reach her, no matter what time of the day, and she never returned any messages. GoodTemps would simply tell me to apply for temp positions via the website, which made me wonder why I "interviewed" with a counselor in the first place. Worst of all, their website is constantly experiencing technical issues, which makes logging in to access your profile in order to apply difficult or impossible....again, this happened regularly. When I would contact their tech department to try to access my account in an attempt to apply for positions, they'd simply tell me to wait until the issue was resolved, which of course it never was. If I had to say one good thing about this place, it's that the receptionist was friendly. Other than that, this place is abysmal in all other areas. After my own personal experience, my recommendation to anyone that is seriously looking for employment is to stay away from GoodTemps and don't waste your time. read more

I worked for them back in the early 2000's and I was happy with there service and if a felt the position they gave wasn't offering me the skills I was looking for they helped me get another one and after 9/11 good bless all there souls. Also I watched some of videos of disabled or handicapped people getting jobs at this company. And I thought that it was kind of annoying to watch because they only focused on one type of demographic and not on normal capable people. My experience with GoodTemps was not so bad they were very polite and professional. Although i was not called for a job they still was professional. And the waiting area where I was seated was clean. I did run into a employee who I thought can use some client relationship and frontline leadership courses. This was the person who was assisting me with a typing test. She was a bit unprofessional. But other than that the staff was very nice. A bit laid back and the appearance of some of the employees that I have seen can use a more professional upgrade on their clothes which was not business attire. If you work for a professional company that wants you to be professional when you come in for an interview you have to represent that I did not see. read more

I would have given good temps five stars because my first experience with them was an excellent one. i was given an assignment to work with the dept of transportation when the contract ended i was given an extension for 6more months i will never forget my time working with great people.. just sad that the contract ended and i was to wait for the next assignment this was in FEB 16 2011, although we are in JULY 2012 not sure what happen with my next assignment it just ended. i would have appreciate a phone call informing me of the status instead all i got was voice mails feeling just a little disappointed. read more

I found out about them through a friend who was trying to get me a job with the MTA who is currently employed by them... while talking to my friend i met a temp worker, working on long island rail rd... this person told me about Good Temps.... I interviewed, and after some difficulty with them (not going to get into those details) but i was placed on a job with the MTA.... i dont' even want to start on the confusion about the pay i was promised and what i got when i was hired... besides that... since i've been working here, there has always been an issue with getting paid... when i call payroll, there is one woman that works in the payroll dept.. and she has an extremely nasty attitude.... I'm currently trying to find out who i can speak to in regards to this person... Good temps will find you a job.. but... when it comes to getting paid, direct deposit or just a paycheck mailed to you... your going to run into some real issues with the nasty black woman that works there... she should be fired.. she makes good temps look really bad.... 1 star just because of the payroll dept and who they have working there... read more

I was not in GoodTemps before 2009. I joined them in 2012. I was jobless with minimal hope of getting back on my feet until I was introduced to them. I do not know where the people who wrote negative reviews about GoodTemps are coming from but I had a fantastic experience with the organization. This organization is for every job seeker out there not "an agency of last resort for ex-convicts, homeless people and others who need work but who may have a variety of disadvantages" according to Kenaz F. I was interviewed in a neat office with the latest computer software. I got placed in under 3 months. The staff were courteous and professional. I did not EVER have any negative experience with them. Everyone was nice and wonderful. I was actually rejecting work from them and being selective, still my placement officer kept on looking out for me. My first temp work was for one year; when it ended, they were calling me for another job immediately. I was the one that said, 'STOP, I need to take a rest before the next assignment'. I have never set eyes on my placement officer. My emails and phone calls have all been returned on time and with information needed. I have been on my current job in a government department for over a year now. I know so many 'GoodTempers' who work with me too; most are now permanent staff in their departments. I am hoping to become one too. If you have issues with GoodTemps, look at yourself: qualifications, attitude, and social interactions. Again, they may not have job banks to draw from but I know as soon as a position is open, people are placed into them. Yes, priority is given if you are disabled, but if a disabled person is not qualified or fit enough do that job, guess who gets it? I am still with GoodTemps. When my first pay check was lost, they immediately sent me another one. My pay now gets into my direct deposit account as regular as clock work, and am loving it! Rather than writing negative reviews, brush up your resume, dress better and change your attitude and go back to them for your new job. Be nice and people will be nice to you too!
