Upon arrival you have to go to the little office near the courts (there's tennis and racket ball courts). The office is a little sketchy but when we walked in there was a friendly guy behind the counter. He informed us that it was $3 per person per hour which was pretty cheap if you ask me. We took our own tennis balls and rackets not sure if the have some there to rent. The court was nice and once the sun started going down the court lights turned on which was nice because you can keep playing after sundown.

The fencing is old and in need of repair and the landscaping and lights appear to be dated. The place has got some soul but needs some capital improvements. There is plenty of space between courts for singles and doubles play. The courts are locked and there is a fee to play on the courts and even while using the wall for racquet ball or tennis so make sure you check in at the building next to the courts. There is plenty of parking. You can find tennis courts near the back of the park next to the basketball courts. If you are by the baseball field you have gone too far.

I wouldn't recommend taking a tennis lesson here but if you want to come and play with a friend, and you don't need to hear them, speak, then this is the place for you. I've spoken to the Director " Robert" multiple times and he doesn't seem to do anything about It.

The courts are a bit pricey for non residents but it's worth the experience if you want to indulge yourself. The new hard courts have a nice cushion feel and the landscaping is jaw dropping from every direction as the courts are next to the golf course. They have nice seating area and a great wall that you can practice against that seems as high as the clouds when you stand next to it. We have done www.Backhand-City.com events here in the past and we may have to revisit the idea again very soon.

The first field in the front of the park that is closest to the concession stand has a few divots and holes in the field. The field in the back right (closest to the pool) is in better shape and is the field I would recommend. When it rains, fields don't drain that well and even when there is the smallest amount of rain, there are HUGE puddles that are hard to get around that are on the way to the back fields. The price is reasonable at about $7 per player per hour. And leave your cleats at home because they aren't allowed. What I HATE about this park is that they do not allow dogs!!! Seriously... It's a PARK!! They made me leave with my dog and I couldn't watch my hubby play one time. A park that doesn't allow dogs is PATHETIC! Concession stand has a $10 minimum so bring a drink unless you want to treat your buddies to refreshments too! If you have kids, there's a little playground by the field closest to the concession stand so they will be entertained for 10 minutes until they get bored.

I'm still not absolutely sure where the parking lot for it is. My GPS led me a bit astray once I was in the neighborhood so I just used the parking lot for the golf club. The staff here seem friendly enough, but they don't allow cleats on the field. They allowed us to play that one time because we didn't know beforehand, but they're strict about the rule otherwise. There are other places that do allow them but are more expensive. The main attracting point about this place is the cost. It's about $8 a person for an hour and that's damn good for a field that size. Trust me. They sell sports drinks and snacks at the cafe and they take credit cards as payment with a $10 minimum, so bring cash if you don't want to be forced to buy a drink. I might be inclined to come back here because I own turf shoes that I can use, but I paid good money for my top of the line cleats and I prefer using them rather than my cheap-o turf shoes. 5 stars for price and size of field, 3 stars for the cleat situation. Math.

This is definitely one of the nicer soccer facilities that I have been to. I am biased obviously because I basically live here with my kids. I do like it however. Its family friendly. I doubt the men that go play aren't drinking beer afterwards. Maybe it's a possible push to collab with neighboring breweries?

Coach Ehmann was known for his love of sports, physical fitness, and the out doors. At Killian high school he was a biology and physical education teacher before taking over the P.E. Department. He championed his students and before his passing he accompanied six of Killian's most accomplished athletes to compete nationally in the Marine Corps Physical Fitness Test. A unique feature of this park is that it has a walking trail through seven acres of a preserved pine rockland habitat which is only found on the limestone terrain in south Florida and the Bahamas. The only trees that live in this habitat are slash pines along with an understory of palms, shrubs, herbs. Pine rockland used to cover 180,000 acres of Miami Dad County but after development, only two percent are left in public parks and preserves. During my walk through the preserve I spotted many Peter's rock agama lizards, an invasive species from Africa. They were first introduced to Florida in 1976 from the pet trade. Adult males have distinctive red heads and black bodies and can grow up to a foot long. Their range has been expanding and they are now found as far north as Jacksonville and as far south as Big Pine Key. Unfortunately they like to feast on Florida's endangered butterfly species like the Florida Leafwing and the gray Bartram's Hairstreak which also live in the pine rocklands. Scientists are currently studying the effect on the environment of these lizards and I was able to file an online report of my observations with the University of Georgia who is recording invasive species sightings. In addition to the nature trail park amenities include a basketball court, soccer field, softball field, bike path, quiet resting place, playground, outdoor fitness equipment, recreation center, tennis center and six lighted tennis courts. Winter, spring, and summer camps are offered in the park along with tennis lessons. This park is a respite of nature in urban Miami. Come out and play, exercise, bird watch, or just to enjoy nature. The park is open every day from sunrise until sunset.

I used to play basketball regularly on the basketball courts, but a knee injury limits my time on the sport. Nevertheless, the park is pretty quiet, and it's a comfortable place to play sports. I like not finding beer bottles or glass laying around, like at some other parks. Also, The Rec is only open to the residents of West Miami, so no crackheads are allowed. Of the other amenities available, the ballrooms are worth to mention. They are available for rent, one of them comes with a small kitchen, and they have been recently built. The rest of the amenities are also available, although you may have to check with the office for available times, since they are used for private lessons. If you live in the City of West Miami, then you must have stopped by The Rec at some point in time. If you are not a resident, then you can access the facilities with a resident of the city. Whichever way you choose to enter The Rec, you are guaranteed to have a great time.
