I had two crooked flats(pierced at a different shop) when I came to Energy and Kashi did an amazing ear curation and changed out the posts of the two crooked flats so that they laid flat on my ear. Unfortunately, the piercing and jewelry looked completely different from my reference. When I expressed my concerns, I was told to return a month later to switch the jewelry, but when I returned, I was told they didn't have the appropriate jewelry and that I would need to purchase it myself. As someone who isn't a professional piercer, I expected more guidance regarding the proper jewelry and sizing. Despite purchasing my own jewelry and returning for another attempt, the result still didn't match what I originally requested. Overall, I was disappointed with the communication and experience, and I hope the shop improves its consultation process to ensure customers understand what they're getting before proceeding. My biggest concern is the lack of communication and guidance throughout this experience. When a customer brings in a reference photo, I believe it is important to discuss what is realistically achievable, explain the jewelry options, and make sure both parties understand the desired result before proceeding. I hope the shop takes this feedback constructively.

A few years ago, I would have given this place 5 stars. I think the artists are excellent, and do…read moregreat work. However, they have become too "Santa Barbara." My sister and I wanted to get some work done, so we gave Sebastian a picture. He drew up a version of his own. We requested a few edits, and he sent another one that still wasn't quite right-if we're getting a tattoo, we want it to be EXACTLY what we want-and it was nothing complicated, a simple animal design, but the details were a bit off and we requested a couple more simple revisions-again, nothing major, the placement of the tail, the angle of the head, that kind of thing. At this point, Sebastian informed us we needed to find a new artist who could bring to life our "ideal" as our patronage was not worth the effort he was putting into the tattoo, time and money wise. After only TWO revision requests. Now, my sister and I have both dealt with other tattoo artists (and ended up moving on to others after this) none of whom complained when they had to re-draw a design a half dozen times. They were totally willing to work with us to make sure everyone was happy. We were very sad, having had work done by both artists before and been happy with the work. THEY DO VERY GOOD WORK. But it's still a customer service industry, and the customer is most certainly always right in this instance, as they have to live with the results forever. Sis and I both have "people" jobs and know how difficult working with customers can be, but we were not being demanding or rude or bossy or anything-we treat people as we want to be treated. So we were baffled by the bad attitude. And Sebastian got what he wanted, we stopped going to him for tats. How nice that Otherworld is doing so well they can shuck off loyal customers.

The shop is clean and professional, and the artists were super down-to-earth; no pretentious vibes. Felt totally welcome here. Their prices are also without a doubt the most reasonable. If you're looking for text, go to Enrique -- but honestly, I'd say go to him for anything. His line work and shading were so clean! My go-to tattoo artist from now on. They have a few parking spots in the driveway/lot right beside the shop. Keep an eye out; not easy to notice. They do take walk-ins, but call first. Also, bring cash.
