So I went stopped by Good Vibrations on my trip to SF to see Curren$y. I took the train and the bus to SF, so the bus had to take a detour and I saw all these yummy restaurants, the City Target, etc. We passed Good Vibrations and I was like what! OMG. I have to go there! They did a demo/workshop at our uni a few years ago and nobody went because they were so shy...people would just walk by and scurry away.
So after got dropped off I just walked in the general direction of where the bus had driven (again, I have no smartphone), and I found my way. At first I walked passed it...too many people on the street! I walked to a restaurant, and then I doubled back and went in. As soon as I got in I asked if I could check my bag and the staff was like sure! They have matching clothes pins with words on them mine said "Pleasure" :D
***Later on, some ladies came in and a staff member asked them to check their bag. He had to explain it like 2-3 times. He did it in a nice way and even said like "here, your clothes pin "-" :) Kudos to you dude, because you handled that like a boss. Then those girls were kind of scoffing and giving attitude. There is clearly a sign posted, if you don't like it... leave. I always just ask where I can put my bag before I go somewhere. It' not just to protect from theft, but honestly, how can you shop if your hand is full of bags. Duh. Those cows kind of irked me. Anyways...***
So I walk through the store to the back and what I loved the most was that they had all the toys lined up so neatly. AND...there is a tester of each one! So you can feel the texture, vibration, and everything. I've always done my shopping online, so this was very different for me! You can see the size of things, like "That's too big"!!! But even if is, it's still fun to laugh at! :) "How do I turn this off?" "Omg are people going to think"... But nobody really cares what you think, or what you like!!! LOL. Some customers and myself had a few laughs when tying to turn things off.
After like 10-15 minutes in the store, there's really nothing to be shy about, it's kind of just like being in the grocery store, shopping for produce. All kinds of couples, older, straight, LGBT, are coming in and everyone was very polite and saying excuse me. I think that stores like this get a very bad rep, but seriously you go inside there's business people in there shopping with their suits on, and the place is very bright and clean and organized.
I can't remember the name of the lady who helped me but I asked her tons of questions. The staff is very knowledgeable about everything. Especially toy material-lube interactions. The fun section for me was the lube section because you can test them all out, feel them, taste them, etc. And the body oils too! The gag gift section is fun too, I was tempted to buy a lollipop, but I saved my money for other treats. ; )
Checking out was easy, You get a stamp card for every $10 you spend in the store! Well I've typed too much, and I'm not going to give too much detail on my purchase but I will recommend the RubMe Massage Bars, and Gun Oil. To me, that was the best lube I tested. And I did buy some. :)
If you're of age and a tourist, I would definitely stop by. And if you're like me, who has done most of your shopping online, step out of your comfort zone and actually go shop in person. That way, you get EXACTLY what you want. :)
P.S. For the people complaining about the prices: It's a store, not a discount warehouse/website, etc. There's actually coupons on Yelp, and their website, twitter, etc. And it was their 36th Birthday Sale when I went. Lelos and all that stay costing over $100-150. Go to any site, the discount price is $99. LOL. Those are the prices everywhere. Same goes for IScream and the Cupcake one. After my visit I thought I could find it cheaper but I couldn't, the prices for some items are set, it's not the store's fault. read more
