I highly recommend St. Mary's Medical Center!…read more Yesterday, my mother's doctor, Dr. Giebel, performed eye surgery in the Day Surgery Department at St. Mary's and the whole thing couldn't have gone more smoothly. We were greeted quickly, assisted with the intake and directed to the Day Surgery Department. Although my mother was hesitant about having eye surgery, the staff put her at ease by fully answering her questions and treating her as a person as much as a patient. And while some healthcare experiences feel impersonal, this was not the case here at all. Having worked in healthcare for over 15 years, I understand the many things that go on behind the scenes to make it all happen and I was completely impressed with how detailed, efficient and friendly each person was.   Since I live 4 hours away, I am thrilled to know that such a wonderfully competent and friendly team are available if we need them.

The entire time I was there (under 24 hours) I was treated amazingly. I cannot begin to say enough kind words about everyone I met there. My night nurse Jess was truly a saint for putting up with my post surgery self. I wish everyone there the absolute best in their lives and careers. Thank you a thousand times over!!

When a patient is legally and medically competent, they retain full bodily autonomy and the absolute right to make their own choices--including declining medications prescribed by an ER provider. Expecting or demanding that an in-home caregiver use coercion, force, or harassment to override a competent adult's decisions is completely unacceptable. Caregivers are there to support and assist, not to act as enforcers or substitute decision-makers. Berating a caregiver for respecting a patient's legal rights only drives dedicated people away and directly harms the patient's living conditions and stability. Medical staff need to respect both the law regarding patient competence and the vital role that caregivers play. I'm done being berated by ER Physicians Assistant, GW. DONE

He told me, "The representative from the pacemaker company was so friendly and personable and immediately put me at ease. The MRI technician was very kind and even asked if I would like to listen to music during the MRI. The gentleman who escorted me to the imaging department could tell I was nervous and did everything he could to reassure me. Three wonderful men treated me like I truly mattered." I brought my adult son to the ER yesterday because he was sick and complaining of excruciating…read morestomach pain. We are visiting the area and chose this hospital for convenience. We were seen right away, and my son was put on an iv for hydration and given pain medication. He had blood work, a ct scan and other tests run to rule out appendicitis, etc. and then he was discharged, all within 3 hours. We felt confident in their diagnosis of a virus. We were in constant contact with a relative who is a nurse and she was very impressed with the level of care we received. On top of this, the hospital is clean and very modern.

Nobody likes to go to the hospital. But, the care team at Sunnyside was the best! The nurses were…read moreconsiderate, compassionate, and caring. The OR team greeted when I was wheeled in. Each member told me their name and what their job was. For the first time going into an OR, I did not feel like a piece of meat. Apparently I had an incident while on the table. I don't know the details, but my posting here shows the surgeon and her team were prepared for the unexpected. The nurse in recovery was genuinely kind in helping me out of my anesthesia-induced haze. Until I was scheduled there, I did not even know Sunnyside had a hospital. But should I ever need another operation, I would definitely go there again. My wife was given complimentary coffee and a meal ticket for lunch as she waited for me too!
