My parents were looking to move into an independent living community to lessen the burden of…read morecooking, cleaning, and home maintenance, as well as increasing their social involvement. We toured eight different facilities in Boise and the Garden Plaza of Valley View was by far their favorite. We actually didn't have an appointment and just stopped in to see if we might be able to talk to someone - Pam welcomed us with open arms and gave us a very thorough tour. They joined the waiting list, and moved in a few months later when a space opened up. At this point it has only been a few weeks since their move, but they are extremely happy and we've noticed a difference in their health already, especially with Mom. Her speech and walking have both improved, and we credit the Garden Plaza with that. She has 3 regular meals a day, social interaction, walks more, and she doesn't have the pressures that came with owning and caring for a full-sized home. My folks tell us every day how nice everyone is, from the staff to the residents. They wish they had made the move years ago and say everyone they talk to says the same thing. (Better late than never!) I liken it to living on a land-based cruise ship - all their meals and utilities are included, their unit is cleaned weekly (including towels and linens), there are tons of activities, there's transportation to get them around town, and everything is bundled under one price so they don't have to keep track of a ton of bills (or even this one - they're set up on auto-pay)! It's so nice that my teenage daughter wanted to move there after getting a tour. To say it's been life-changing is an understatement. My parents are thrilled, my siblings and I are thrilled, and a huge load has been lifted from all of us. Since I don't live in Boise, it's an enormous comfort to know they're happy and that people are checking in on them daily. Thank you, thank you, thank you to Pam Dillman and all the wonderful staff and residents at the Garden Plaza of Valley View! (Oh, and there's an AMAZING bakery in the lobby - try the blueberry lemon cake.)

I also took care of my sweet Aunt until her Dementia became debilitating. Both my father and my aunt went to two separate places in California for their Care. I was so unimpressed and had to actually move my Aunt to another place. Neither of the facilities had an RN on staff or PT. Garden Plaza of Valley View has BOTH! Every time I visit, they are doing something Special for their residents. They even built a Bakery so that the residents can visit and have a sweet treat. If you are considering special care for a loved one, take a tour with Melanie. She is personable and understands how important this transition is for everyone in the family. The Company is locally owned, I believe this makes a difference.

St Luke's saved my mom from the carelessness of another doctor and hospital. If we had not come to…read moreyour ER, she could have died. We were told not to worry about the symptoms we called the other place with, by their doctor. I listened to my guts and off we went to St Luke's. Upon arrival, you all recognized IMMEDIATELY that she needed care and started right away with it. She was admitted and you cared for her the next four days. The nurses were exceptional and so were the doctors! She was set up with home health visits, medications and therapy to heal her right up! Thank you for saving her!!!!

Today was the first time in a few ER visits I actually felt like I was bothering ER staff at their…read morejob. Came in between 1:15-1:30pm. Super busy day, and I could tell based off the parking lot alone. I walked in with my mother, who is visibly not well, and the receptionist working was absolutely terrible. Horrible attitude. Just uncaring, not polite whatsoever. Very blunt and rude with her questions, had a scowl on her face, and looked irritated as my mom is giving her information. I, mistakenly, mentioned "I'm not sure if you know, but there's a wet puddle on the floor". Mid sentence she rudely cut me off, "I know. Someone's coming. We see it". I said, "ok, sorry to bother you at work". Walked away. Triage nurses? 10 gold stars. I acknowledged their stresses, and they were absolute angels. Once we were able to get a room, we waited. Understandable given how busy they were. When the ER doctor came in he was TREMENDOUS. While I'm sure he was over the day he maintained great bedside manner, looked us in the eye, patient, and super caring. 10 stars for him. The CNA that came in before him was also super nice, and patient. The RN? lol RUDE. Seemed annoyed my mom was asking questions, and just flat out annoyed with people breathing it felt. Between the receptionist and the RN, the tension and annoyance was so palpable I felt uncomfortable being someplace where people are supposed to be professional. Again, I get being stressed out and with Dr Google, I totally get the frustration.. human moments are forgivable, but this? Never again. The ONLY reason I gave this 2 stars was for triage, the CNA, and the ER Dr. They were actually really nice given the circumstances. I typically don't do reviews often, but this was enough for me say something. I plan on calling the feedback line as well. I always talked about how great St Luke's is, but after today it's not likely I'd recommend their care again.I
