Laurent's work is simply beautiful. He was certain to explore what I was looking for in design, give me his input when I asked for it and ensure that I was happily with the design prior to having it inked. I felt at ease during the process as Laurent was able to chat when I was I wanted to but worked quietly when I needed to have time to leave off on conversation. While his overall manner was what I needed, the quality of the work was what stood out the most. My Asian inspired tattoo ran from my foot to just above my knee and was completed in only two sessions. His work was quick considering the intricacy of the design but exceeded my expectations in its quality. The tattoo was simply beautiful and exactly what I wanted in its design. My next 3 appointments have been at this shop. The shop is very clean and has a great atmosphere. Everyone has been extremely kind, and there are a well diversed group of artists. While I can only speak on my experiences with Jay, who is incredibly talented, professional, and pleasant to be around; I haven't heard or seen anything that rubs me the wrong way. At this point, I've spent a good 20 hours at the shop, with no end in sight. I'm hooked and sticking with an artist who is like minded and connects with me in a way that results in me getting the best work possible. I say all this, and must disclose that I drive past tons of shops on my 2 hour (YES, TWO HOUR) drive to get there. I wouldn't have it any other way. I highly recommend Jay Purdy as an artist, especially if you want awesome and original new school work. Otherwise, there is surely an artist there that'll fit your needs and exceed your expectations. *** A couple tips if I may... 1. If you're looking for the best possible outcome for your tattoo, give a clear idea of what you want and maybe provide references. 2. Give your artist some creative freedom. They do this as their career and know what will result in the best possible piece of art. 3. TIP your artist! Contrary to popular belief, these guys aren't rich, they work more hours than you probably do and it goes unnoticed. They won't rub it in your face, but so much more goes in to your custom tattoo behind the scenes than you realize. Always tip your artist. Got my septum here and it was perfect, the lady that did it was super sweet and kind, loved her, she explained as she went what she was doing and the things I should be feeling. I got a lobe piercing here and also perfect, this time it was a guy that was piercing me, and he was cool, but not as kind, but the third one, my industrial piercing, that one was another story. Bad: Lets start off with reception. The guy in the front desk is always serious and seems to be over with it. But whatever, maybe he is and hope he is happy maybe out of work. The industrial piercing I got was maybe the worst experience. I waited like for 2 hours for it. Got the piercer (guy from 2nd piercing) to check my ear to see if I had the right anatomy and he said I did, so I went with it. I maybe moved, and because of the adrenaline of the pierce I fainted when I got it done, he took the situation all well, and gave me instructions of after-care and all. I understood that the healing of an industrial takes 6-12 months. But it has been around 7 months since, and I believed the ear has healed like 55% of the way. I know this is not a professional opinion place, but I asked Reddit if my ear and piercing was okay. And ALL the comments said I definitely did not have the anatomy and that I should get the piece put ASAP, as my ear's flat had been pierced, and not the part that should've be pierced for an industrial. I am finding a place that is not Body Rituals to get the industrial removed. I would still recommend the place to others, but for industrials, no. The space of piercing is clean, piercers are generally nice, and the place in general has a nice aesthetic and music. I would not have minded though. I know that my piercer had years of experience, and maybe it was me that ended up moving, but I would not get offended of getting told that I do not have the anatomy and find alternatives to a piercing that does look like an industrial.
