I was visiting New Mexico in January and was bummed to see that WSWS was closed online; however, after reaching out in advance, Brittany was kind enough to accommodate our visit. I'm so glad that she did since it was one of the highlights of my trip! When we arrived, we met Stephanie at the visitor center. We had to knock several times to get a response, and when she opened the door, customer service was nonexistent. There was a scheduling mishap with our tour, and she made my friend and I feel unwelcome from the moment we arrived. She told us that we could walk around, but nobody would be available to give us a tour. My friend and I went outside, and fortunately, one of the staff passed by then turned around to guide us through the sanctuary. August was a fantastic guide and completely made up for the poor experience that we initially had. He was extremely knowledgeable, and it was awesome to hear about each dog's story, their care, and the community's support for WSWS. I decided to sponsor Atlas, a 12-year old wolf dog, and look forward to staying up to date on his well being.

Don't miss this if you're anywhere nearby. Doing the route 66 through New Mexico it's not that long a drive from Gallup. There aren't too many places to stay down here but right next-door (by local standards) is the El Morro RV camp and cabins, which also has an excellent restaurant. Another travel tip - if you're coming down here come on Wednesday or Thursday and stay over the weekend. Things are closed at the beginning of the week, including the not to be missed El Morro National Monument.

Picked out a cat and the other person said no, they don't like you allowing your cat to be a happy fulfilled active cat by letting it go outside sometimes. Confused, I filled out an app, then was told nobody was there to make a decision and someone would call. Nobody called, went back today and was told they did call, but now they will not allow me to have a cat because I might let it outdoors. I told them to put that on their website. "But a life entirely inside can bring hardships to cats, including the following: Boredom Lack of exercise Weight gain or obesity Inability to express natural behaviors like hunting, climbing, scratching Lack of mental stimulation Excessive meowing/yowling Stress, anxiety, or depression Behavior problems (urine marking, little box avoidance, destructive scratching) Fighting amongst household cats Aggression toward humans The biggest issues for indoor-only cats are lack of mental stimulation, lack of exercise, and the inability to express the natural behaviors that make a cat a cat. This can cause cats to become bored, stressed, and depressed. " https://cats.com/should-i-let-my-cat-outside

However, the lady at the desk said that they are full and went towards the back office to consult with the "director" to check to see if they could take him. My dog is a nervous pee-er and he sprayed urine everywhere and they were so kind and understanding. He came through his procedure just fine, and it was obvious they care about my pet's comfort, as they looked at me like I was a terrible person when I declined pain meds for my dog (he needed to hurt a little so he would slow down and not pull his stitches - he's crazy). Overall I am extremely happy with Pet Allies. The only two reasons I don't give 5 stars, is I feel the system isn't perfectly clear. They charged me, took the money from my account, I thought I had paid in full. Then my dog weighed more than I thought and they charged me another $100! I've worked in vet clinics, this is completely fair, but I feel like it needs to be mentioned when you drop your pet off. Luckily they worked with me, and I paid $50 the day I picked him up and $50 the next day when my paycheck cleared. It could have been a bad situation though. The second reason they don't get 5 stars is they charge to install a microchip and give you paperwork to register the number - but they don't warn that it's a $50 a year subscription fee. We live in an impoverished area - a lot of the people getting their dog microchipped can't activate it. So what's the point of paying to get it?

I don't know this for sure, but I am sure it has something to do with animal rights activists that do not approve of breeders. With that said, I HAVE purchased a kitten from Wind Haven. We received our kitten over Christmas and Carol bent over backwards making sure we and the kitten were well cared for. She went out of her way after she learned that we had been scammed by another breeder, gave us files and files of education material on the breed, and went to great lengths to keep our kitten well. Our kitten came to us very socialized and blended right into a family with small children. She even has stayed in contact with our family long after the kitten was not in her care, and is readily available any time we have questions. To further her praise she has created a forum for all her clients to be able to stay in touch and to have questions answered by not only herself, but through a community formed by all her clients. Addressing the breeder argument that many may fight for - I only have this to say: We have a child in our home that is very ill and highly allergic to most animals. She has desired a pet for some time, and through quite a bit of research on our part we found that the cheetoh breed of cat was one of the few pets we could bring home in order to let our child have a pet of their own. If it were not for having the option of a reputable breeder, we would not be able to grant the wish of our child as she is unable to bring home pets from shelters or other means.
