One of the oldest stations still in operation, with the station made mostly of wood. Good views of the neighborhood from up here and it doesn't smell bad with the fresh air. There's often delays, which is the only bad thing. Hipsters catch the train here. It serves the Blue Line. There's a shitload of bars and restaurants. Always busy. Lots of Instagramming motherfuckers. As for the station, it's a classic. This is my most favorite other than the Quincy station. Both have old wood paneling. There's actually a charm about it, which you can't say about most stations. Lots of places around here to drink and eat. There's a Stan's Donuts right next to here. Busy intersection. There's lots of buses to hop on. Because trains are coming here from O'Hare, there's often delays. It's the biggest complaint about it. There's lots to check out in and around this if waiting.

Heck, just look at the pictures I've posted of it. -Complete rebuild of the historic station house with new paint and signage. -At ground level (I guess it wouldn't "technically" be considered the El due to the lack of "ELevated tracks" but it continues to be called such) -Has a gorgeous floral pattern mosaic and plants all along the entrance ramp -100% handicap accessible -Brightly lit for night time travel -Necessary windbreaks for that frigid Windy City of ours -Interesting circular, one-person "stepping" benches -Has the marvelous Merle's Coffee Shoppe right next door to play you oldies hits while you await the next train -Only the cutest grand opening to the quaint neighborhood of Ravenswood Manor Damn, I feel like I'm making an old-fashioned Pros & Cons list as my father would always recommend me to create when making a decision. Grand station was the closest to the hotel where we stayed, so we often went to this one whenever we traveled to further neighborhoods in the city. The platforms really look similar, and are pretty easy to navigate. There is usually a staff member in the help booth and they're pretty nice if you're confused (I had to ask one of them a question the first time I rode the CTA). Overall, I think the number of stops/lines available is pretty good; it's not quite as good as NYC or other countries e.g. Seoul, SK -- but if you're staying downtown for instance, you can get around pretty easily and to/from the airport with minimal walking to get to a nearby station and either connect to or go direct to the airport. I'm very glad the CTA is available as an option for visitors and folks who live here since parking is paid almost everywhere, and definitely limited (especially downtown!).

I didn't encounter excessive dirt or grime, and the station smelled lightly of disinfectant/cleaner. + While the vibe on Saturday morning may not be indicative of all days and times, I felt no safety or security concerns. Thus, while I may not use Linden very often, it does a fine job as far as train stations go. Having screens on the platform so passengers know how long to wait is all it would take to go from a four to a five.

Maybe the most notable feature is the long ramp at the entrance from the street. Give several minutes to make it because it really is long. The station seems to be better in cleanliness and safety. It has been renovated so it seems to be clean. It serves the Blue Line. This is the main stop for UIC. Also it's the best stop for Greektown. Just up Halsted are some good restaurants including a Guardino's and just beyond that are local eateries like Meli's. At the Morgan Street and Peoria Street entrances is access to the UIC campus. The station mostly is safe. Good location to get to Greektown. It often gets crowded in the middle of the week because of UIC. The Eisenhower Expressway rattles below the bridge and you can usually see motorists who have got into accidents pulled off in the berm so there's something to watch.

This is between the Grand Avenue and Clark/Division stations. Inside there's kind of a bad odor and there's a few sketchy people but that's typical stuff around. There's plenty of other stations you can get to from here quickly. Has a shitload of shopping as if you didn't know. It has some fast food like McDonald's if the hipster food is too high brow for your tastes. The best thing about this station is no long waiting.
