Palm Valley Golf Club & Practice Range - Driving range

Palm Valley Golf Club & Practice Range

I never really considered myself a golfer. I do consider myself a great putt putter. My son and…read morehusband are pretty avid golfers, as is my mom, so when my mom gave me her old set of clubs, I thought I'd try my hand at this golf thing. We like to visit the driving range as a family and since this location is so convenient for us, it's great to be able to throw our clubs in the car on a whim and head over to hit a bucket of balls. Now normally I hit balls on the actual mat, with a rubber tee, this time my husband convinced me to up the ante and try my hand at the actual driving range. Let's just say hitting a ball on an actual tee is different then the mat. That being said, after a few hits, I finally found my groove. This range and course is no frills, so don't expect you're going to the TPC, but what you will find is a workable driving range, that's great, well kept, and reasonably priced, plus they have a smaller golf course (no actual golf carts allowed, only push carts, so beware). This is also a great course to take your little out on! Pros: -Family run -Small course -Reasonably price -Convenient Cons: -I believe they only have a port-a-potty available -Parking is a little funky (IMO), so be careful when backing up or pulling into a spot Tips: If you don't like port-a-potties, be sure to go potty before you leave the house.

Nice outdoor spot for relaxing outdoor event. Owner was great, friendly and you have covered range…read morearea hitting of mats, as well as open range off the grass. Covered area range has top tracer machines at each bay that provides some good feed back on ball speed, distance carry / roll. Very helpful for determine distances of each club. Reasonable pricing we had 3 golfers and one bay for $25. / hour - we alternated after 4-5 hits and this worked. There's also a 9 hole par 3 (2 par 4) enjoyable outing. 9 holes were decent - fair greens and water does come into play for a few holes.

The layout - Every hole is a bit different than the last. Really provides a great variety of shot…read morerequirements. Four sets of tees for men allow it to be a fair course regardless of how far you are off the tee. Conditions - The course is about to close and go through a major renovation. Very excited to see the end result in the fall of 2026. Note that the owners didn't let the course go at any point...just had greens that are at the age that they become hard to maintain and need to be replaced, which also gives them a chance to change contours and extend some of them. Range - The members back range is always in great shape and there's a big practice area for chipping. Definitely a great perk for members. Membership - The members are a great group, very accepting of new people. There are regular games on Saturday and Sunday for all levels of players. The owners do a nice job of making sure their members have priority on times on the weekends. The management and employees overall really do a great job of taking care of their members. It's the type of environment where everyone remembers your name, what you like to drink, whether you like to walk or take a cart, etc. They are very accommodating and have created a great culture. Pace of Play - I've read some reviews saying pace of play is horrible. I have not experienced that. On weekend mornings (before Noon), it's mostly members and pretty much plays at a 4 hour pace. I play 9 holes late once or twice a week (around 5PM) and also never had any bad experience. In general, I think most area courses on a weekend afternoon probably will be a bit slower. I've been a member at a few courses in the area and highly recommend South Hampton.

The greens were unplayable without any warning. Overpacked tee times. Used to be such a great place…read moreto play.
