I'll start by saying JP's (the waterfront restaurant) is great. But this review is about the…read moreMARINA, and more specifically, the SERVICE DEPARTMENT. Unprofessional behavior and poor communication have cost me significant time and money. Want a couple examples? Read on... Last season, the marina was to winterize my boat. I left it in the water longer than I normally do, so I was in a hurry to get it done. In addtion, they were to work on some other items for me at the same time. I called, and said that the weekend weather was going to be near freezing, so I wanted to make sure it could be stored indoors. On Thursday, the woman working (who no longer works there) told me that I could bring the boat down and they would be sure to get it inside, as long as I pre-paid for my service. I called back later to verify their hours, then brought the boat in on Friday evening after work. There was nobody at the marina. I left the boat outside, called the marina, left a voicemail, and verified that I had heard the hours correctly. I had. The voiccemeail also said that they would be in on Saturday morning. Not wanting to chance it, I showed up first thing Saturday morning, only to find that (again) nobody was there. Left another voicemail, but nobody called me back. My boat sat outside, the temps dropped, and I incurred significant extra damages. When I finally spoke to someone the following week, their response: "Oh, the voicemnail still has our summer hours. We are in our winter schedule now". Fast forward to my repairs: They had also prepared an estimate to replace the brakes on my trailer: over $3,000! Between the boat & trailer job, parts were backordered, mechanics were at the boat show, another mechanic ended up down & out with covid, you name the excuse, and they used it. Long story short, it's now April 2023, and my repairs STILL aren't completed. They finally got my boat done in AUGUST, which gave me about a five week season. I said to forget the trailer work for now. I just wanted to pick up my boat and get it in the water. They didn'tso much as offer a discount for causing me to miss 2/3 of the boating season. Not to mention the extra damages caused by the miscommunication of hours last fall. Needless to say, I was not happy. But they had a lot of staff turnover, and Will & Megan had always been good to work with in the past, so I still planned to winterize with them this season. After turning in my winterization form on Monday, Pam called me on Tuesday, saying that I could drop the boat off Wednesday. I verified the hours personally, then told her I'd be there early the next morning. As I was about to pull out of the driveway, she called me & said that she would need to cancel, because they were full & had "nowhere to store my boat". I informed her that I had adjusted my work schedule based on the information she had given me LESS THAN 24 HOURS EARLIER. When I asked why she couldn't have let me know that the previous day, she stuttered & stammered, and had no good reason. After I expressed my displeasure at the lack of communication & the unprofessional way that the situation was handled, she began yelling at me, before telling me "fine, bring your boat down, and I'll find somewhere to put it". She then hung up on me before I could even respond. Needless to say, I will NOT be bringing my boat to them, today or EVER. The next two marinas I called for winterization services were both happy to get me in immediately, and their prices were about 30% less. The also quoted a complete brake job, based on the make & model of my trailer. It was under $2,000. Humbug has become a dysfunctional marina that only seems concerned about getting their money. The funny thing is, if their customer service wasn't so poor, I'd still be paying their inflated prices. Do yourself a favor: Get a second quote before you take your boat to them. And if you do business with them, be prepared for the "unexpected issues" that will arise.

They are not the same people that gained my loyalty, it's really a shame…read more Mike running the counter is dishonest, rude, and extremely unprofessional. He scams people for the business and refuses work that isn't convenient to them. So they installed my front struts Obviously wrong, left giant stickers across the top so they couldn't seat properly. When I brought it back to them they use the warranty and said the parts were bad and made Monroe eat the loss. Here's the thing though-Mike tried desperately begging me to come get my car at the end of that work day I brought it back. It was too late and I did not have a ride. I called in the morning to see about picking the car up and someone else answered the phone unaware of what Mike had done and said no they just pulled the your car in it hasn't been in till today. So had I picked up the car I'm assuming they had cut the stickers out with a razor knife it would have been no different no work done and I only had a few days left on my warranty which I believe he was counting on. And-bonus-they get to keep a pair of brand new Monroe's for the next guy-free to them So like I said he's scanning for the company. The other manager told me he believed it was a mistake and he had mixed up cars, But I was able to ask Mike separately and his story was that they had put the car in the shop replace the struts and it was ready that night somehow but then they had to pull the car back in and replace the struts again. I said you put three sets of struts in my car?!? He said "yep" I literally saw a mechanic that was in the room to the side of me laughing because I had caught him in a lie and he performed so badly He also signed my paperwork for me and I realize that as I drove it to Firestone to get all the work looked over because I don't trust them one iota. When I called him to ask why he signed my paperwork he just kept screaming "you don't know who I am" It was just a distraction so no one else would know that he did it. I know exactly who Mike is, he's the reason I will never return to a shop that I had recommended to many people, paid a bit extra a couple times because of loyalty and thinking that they did good work. He ruined telegraph location, moved on to ecorse and ruined that also. I first met him over 10 years ago with that original overpriced quote so there's no way they're employing this man for over a decade while he's constantly hustling, scamming, and harassing people without being completely complicit. They can't do the job right the first time or the second time they can't stick to the price that they originally say because he tried jumping the price by a hundred when the key hit his hand until I changed his mind. Sucks to say it but just stay away from this place!

Be warned! Scammers…read more110% Caught red handed several times for one friggin job, which they had to redo because of their installation, so instead they called Monroe and said they gave them bad parts and got new ones. That's Monroe's loss because the reason the struts were no good was because they left the giant stickers across the top of them and they couldn't seat to the car. I drove my sister an hour on the freeway twice with the car like this, steering all unsteady. They even tried to fake it like they fixed the struts and called me begging to get the car which I couldn't, only to call the next morning and found out it wasn't pulled in until then. So he was trying (desperately) to get me to pick up the car, (I'm sure with they had cut the stickers out, because it had never entered the shop yet. They put the struts in the next day when they arrived. Had I picked up my car Mike would have made up a story about me picking up my car I am sure and kept the brand new struts from Monroe, hoping I wouldn't notice in the few days left I had in my warranty that the car was still unstable. There was also a very serious problem with the rear axle which I know they had their hands on to put shocks on but they didn't mention it to me because they Cherry picked their work. This is how I first met Mike at the telegraph location. I have worked on cars at home, I'm aware of how much shops charge, and asked him for a quote. It was so long ago I don't remember specifically it might been a hub, but I recognize an "I don't want to do it" price when I see it. Later it turned out it cost half of what he had quoted me being the point. So I already knew the telegraph location was sketchy then they moved the sketchy guy to the Ecorse location so that makes me think that they're all sketchy and I'm done with them and I think anyone should be warned the same.
