I've been a member to Golds for 5 years now and here is my honest review of my experiences. I love the variety of group classes and the instructors. My favorites are Bodycombat, Step, and RPM. I am also a regular at team training and occasionally take HotYoga but these cost extra. HotYoga is awesome but expensive and the sessions offered conflict with the other class times. I enjoy team training with Kim and Megan. They are always friendly and supportive. I have taken personal training with Morgan and also team training when she used to teach it. I chose her because I knew she would push me and be effective. She is friendly and helps you believe in yourself. The gym offers all different types of amenities and I have enjoyed my time there with no real issues. I have added family members to my membership off and on through the years and have never had a problem with cancellation. They go over the contract with you so most people should understand the requirements. I have noticed the Richland gym has a high turnover of trainers. My feeling on that issue is that it lies within the owner's decisions and treatment of employees. I would like to see improvements in morning class times. So many have conflicting times between the HotYoga, Team training, and group classes. Also floor cleanliness could be better. One other item is that I don't feel Golds is kid/teen friendly. Nothing is tailored or offered to this age group. As for other reviews than mention weights being left racked or in disarray I think that is more a reflection on people being lazy than the business. Gold Gym is an absolute joke. Their staff is super incompetent and when I asked for the membership department to make a situation right on behalf of the lack of information, their employees were given the membership manager said "no" I had signed a contract a year ago. When I also stated that I did call to get a better understanding of my terms of my agreement so that I could follow it and cancel when I needed to. I was told by staff that I only needed to be enrolled for three months and I could've canceled at any time. And after talking to people on the Internet, I have found out that Gold Gym will not notify you if your card is expired they'll just keep charging you and then charging you fees, so everybody keep an eye out for these monsters. I really wish there was a negative review button because I would totally have negative stars for them. read more

Do NOT go to this gym under any circumstances!!! I feel so stupid for having spent any money at this gym... Weights are never stacked correctly, often times the 25lb plate you need is beneath a 35lb plate and a 45lb plate on top. The people here are either total idiots or do not give a fuck about anyone else. Nobody here believes in "leave things better than you found it". Squat racks are often left with weights (and sometimes benches), making you wonder "is someone actually using this currently?" The answer is often no, and the squat rack you've been checking on periodically is just filled with shit someone else was too lazy to put away. I never realized how annoying it is to be in a bad gym culture, but hanging around these helpless and rude adults will tax you. The employees never help around the gym. I have never seen one rerack weights or even touch equipment. They are always folding towels behind the counter, which is odd because they don't even have towels those towels out anywhere, they only give you paper towels lol. I haven't been since covid began so I miss it. When I did go, I'd take advantage of the spin classes and the cardio cinema. One time I was on the stair stepper in the back of the cardio cinema watching Fast and the Furious (cars everywhere in the movie crashing) . The screen is huge, the sound is surround and the room is dark minus the small opening to enter/ exit. By the time I got into my car to drive on the nearby highway, I was kinda leary of all the cars around me since the movie screen was life- size to me. 3rd update. Gold's is still struggling guys. Over the weekend I found several bandaids in the shower and pool area on Friday and they were not picked up when I came in Saturday. Sadly, attention to detail and cleanliness has never been a high priority for this gym. Additionally, the shower knob came off the shower in the pool area. I handed it to the front desk employees. Oh yeah, this is the third time I have had to bring broken parts to the front desk. God forbid someone actually do a walk around and open their eyes and take pride in their work environment. Summary: Management at this gym is subpar so you need to expect subpar. You can't blame the employees at the front desk or other instructors because ultimately this is a management problem. 2nd update! Manager personally reached out to me in regards to my concerns. Surprised, but much appreciated. Shower head was fixed and cleaning crews have been present and their efforts are evident, although not completely up to what I would expect for a golds gym. However, have to give credit where credit is due...it's an improvement. Lastly, treadmills have signs clearly labeling the broken machines and I have seen some maintenance being done; super slow, but at least someone is now putting some effort in. We will see how things pan out, but for now I am just happy things once neglected are now being address Update! Still no shower head in stall 1 on the right. Management still clueless. Also, I am all for previous employees moving on and making positive life changes. However, this Gold's has struggled with cleanliness for over 2 years and I have personally watched 5 previous people/crewsleave. Enough with the excuses, just get the job done and bring this place into the 21st century. Back treadmills are constantly broken. First shower on the right in the men's locker room does not have a shower head. Been weeks and management has no clue. Found a bandaid in the pool yesterday. Asked the employee up front for the managers number and he warned me the number on the front just calls the front desk. Jesus, that's helpful. Oh yeah, don't go there between 3pm and 9pm. All the trainers staff Christie Mindy Abigail Joanne Tawny Heather Rachael Mike Clint and others are so friendly helpful and positive. The front desk who greet you coming and going just make you want to return. They have changed my outlook both physically and mentally over the last year and one half tremendously. Planet Fitness has very low monthly membership fee, better and newer equipments, and better customer service. This location is by far one of the worst I've encountered. Sharon Smith and Kim Arthur do not reply to emails or voicemail messages. My personal things were removed from a locker without my verbal or written consent and dumped into a garbage bag like trash.Several items are missing including a Bulova watch and two rings. Do not sign a contract with Golds Gym and specifically at this location. I had a legitimate reason to cancel my membership and informed three staff members in person due surgery on my left foot and circulation issues with both of my legs that prevented me from working out at the gym. Nonetheless, I was forced to pay three months of a membership I didn't use. I never stepped foot in the club during that time. Kim Arthur and Sharon Smith the general manager have no integrity, are dishonest and disingenuous. AVOID SIGNING A CONTRACT and run to Platnet Fitness or any other health club in the trip-Cities, Washington. Don't subject yourself to harassment and ridicule by staff at this Golds Gym. This is the overall worst gym I have ever been a part of. Their equipment is always broken, the most unsanitary gym I have ever stepped foot in, mold on the ground of the sauna, showers have science projects growing in them, and to top it off, the most stingy, money grabbing owners you could ever encounter. I called to cancel my membership and was informed that I will be charged AGAIN (even though it's a gym and will not be using any of their services) for a "final bill". I have been a member for over two and a half years and paid my dues, but that's not good enough for them. They still want to rob ppl out of one more month just for leaving. I hope anyone that reads this takes this to heart, not just bc it's a gym, but to understand when you go here, you're supporting a bunch of money hungry, heartless, assholes that want nothing more than your cash no matter what. I can't speak for how busy it is or how hard it is to get machines during peak hours because I rarely come before 10:30 PM, so it's always dead and clear when I'm there. Pros: -Pool -Area for where women can work out -Basketball/Racquet Ball Court -Cardio Cinema where you can watch movies while working out -A huge locker area with bathrooms, changing rooms, showers, hair dryers, mirrors and a really cool machine that helps rapid-dry bathing suits after swimming. -Hot tub and steam rooms! Cons: -That it's not open 24/7. It really bothers me they close early on Friday, Saturday and Sunday because they're closed by the time I get off. -Equipment is old and not replaced promptly. -Like other reviewers have mentioned: That the pool area is on display in the middle of the gym and everyone working out can stare in there. 30% of the gyms floor space is cardio machines that are 5-10% used. Another 30% is machines, most of which none uses cause they are not good machines. 1 fly machine. 1. The people: gym is loaded with young guys on steroids posing. Course this also means bunnies looking for attention. Constant frustration of waiting on campers to move on from machines they are afraid to sweat on. Legs? The machines here are awful, not a single leg press machine, 2 leg presses all the way in the back. All the other leg machines are the cumbersome type you load weights into with 12 different adjustments. Free weights look ok, but they can't have more then 4-5 benches for everyone. Look this place is a tiny step up from a PF, but not much more. It is very busy and if you are a serious type I hope you can avoid peak hours. I paid 35 for a 1 week membership. read more

BYOT (bring your own towel) I did my yelp research and I decided to join golds gym. It was my first day today. Just joined. I think it's a really nice place. It's clean the equipment is nice. I took an active step class and the instructor was great. I worked up a good sweat and can't wait to try out some of the other classes. I have a three year old I watch during the day so I'm also utilizing their daycare. Which seems to have a very helpful staff. I have a few observations of things I wasn't expecting, however. I was surprised to find there are no normal small towels to use to wipe off your sweat. They only have red garage towels that look like oil rags, roughly the thickness of paper towel. Kinda weird??? to have such ghetto rags in such a nice looking gym with such state of the art equipment. But maybe that's how they keep there membership fees down? I asked a guy in the locker room after my workout if there were any towels to dry off with after a steam and a shower and he said you gotta bring your own. Hu? That's weird? Maybe I'm from Alaska and they give you towels at the gym in Alaska and it's understood that in Washington you BYOT, but I think it's weird. So I grabbed a stack of small red reusable paper towels and looked around the locker room for the steam room. And looked And looked some more. All the while there were some duchy shirtless dudes taking pictures of each other in the locker room trying to bend one leg slightly so they could get a good pose with their abs, I guess? And snapping selfies in the mirror. I shared a look with the guy I asked about the towels, we were both on the same page. More humorous than annoying. Well slightly annoying. So I kept looking for the steam room and finally found it. Outside the Locker room by the pool. It is a co-Ed steam room. And you have to wear swim trunks to go in. Not what I would expect. I guess it cuts down on the old naked people you have to deal with but I would prefer to go in a steam room with a towel and get right out and go in the shower. After showering and toweling off with 5 or 6 oil rags I got ready and went to pick up my toddler from the daycare. First thing I noticed was the lack of things for kids to play on in the play room or the use of space. They have a few different areas gated off that seem to have things to play with. But when I went to pick up my child there were no kids in any of the gated off areas, that had all the toys and like 30 kids corralled like sheep in the main central area from 8months to 4 year olds. There were about 4 or 5 lady's working there and it just seemed very cramped. Perhaps it the time of day I went, just dropping my son of to the 4th grade and coming right over to the gym. I'll inquire as to why the other areas weren't being used there may be some prudent reason I'm not aware of. So I'll take my son to the park after the gym to play on some equipment and BYOT and just deal with the co-ed steam room. But, I can't wait to try out some of the other classes. read more

When i first joined I was very excited and loved the facilities . To make this easy : Pros: Women's workout area Awesome hiit classes Nice machines I used a personal trainer for a few sessions and she was great Cons : Childcare : I don't like that the childcare is located otsodnehe Gym doors and that security isn't that great. But even more so my kids just were ignored. I've been to other gyms and they read to kids or do crafts , the bubble machine... but here all the staff just hangs out together at the front desk loosely caring for the kids. Yoga cost extra !!! Totally lame Pool and spa were closed a lot..: what the ???!!! Bathrooms were kinda gross.. never showered there but wouldn't dare. The les mills classes are kinda boring and seem outdated. David is the best for info and signing up nice young man. Also I love the Handicap Parking right out front.!!! I have had great experiences with the Golds Gym in Richland. The staff do a good job of keeping the gym clean and being courteous. There is a good selection of equipment. I take a lot of classes and Mindy does a wonderful job of scheduling. The instructors are excellent. They don't get paid a lot, but they are dedicated and enthusiastic in terms of trying to help members achieve fitness goals. read more

Gold's is awesome! I have no issues with anything here. My only concern would be the toilets but I rarely ever use those. Cardio theater is my favorite but if I'm not interested in the movie I'll be on the Jillian treadmills in the back. We used to go to CBRC but Gold's for us is a way better fit. read more

A decent gym I would say because of the Audio/Visual equipment--the Cinema (kudos!) being able to watch TV on your treadmill or the monitors. If you're a woman--it's set up a lot like a "meat market". Sure they have a small "women's only work out room", but if you want the cinema, its on the exact opposite side of the gym. To use the restroom, you have to walk past everyone on the treadmills and cycles. Past everyone working on the machines. Past the classes (all glass windows) and/or past the pool (call glass windows). It feels a a lot like you're in a fishbowl. Bottom line? Wanna be watched and checked out constantly? Join this gym! If you have any modicum of modesty or privacy--well, you'll feel uneasy. Another thing I'm growing increasingly vexed with--is the traffic coming out of the Walmart/Golds Gym complex. It is a bloody nightmare! You typically have to sit through like 6-7 stop lights just to get out. So add 20 minutes to get home... A lot of the machines are finicky at best and you can only go up to the front desk to report them. All in all--an OK gym with some definite drawbacks... read more

Writing a review for a business in a smaller community (like Richland) is kinda hard for me. Because in making comparisons with similar businesses (to determine the number of stars), there just may not be many or even any similar establishments. In Richland, Gold's only competition is the venerable CBRC. I went to CBRC back in the 90's, and quite liked it then. But somebody recently snarked to me, in discussing CBRC, that their current equipment is probably exactly the same equipment they had in the 90s. On my visit to Gold's this past weekend, I was willing to purchase a one-day guest pass. However, to my pleasant surprise, the guy at the front desk waived me through without taking my money. Gold's is clean and well-maintained. The gym is open and airy. I appreciate that Gold's has free sweat towels and cleaning solution located in several spots throughout the gym. However, I didn't like the Precor weight machines. Most of them have you sitting at a funny angle, with thirty-nine million settings you have to fiddle with before you can begin your set. And for such a big gym, it seemed like the selection of weight machines was skimpy - with a real shortage of upper-body machines. But the Precor weight machines were a picnic in the park compared to the Precor Elliptical. Yes, the Elliptical has TV channels available on its display. But hell, the exercise controls are a nightmare. I'm used to aerobic machines where you enter your age, weight, type of exercise, resistance and exercise length in logical steps before you begin. However, with the Gold's Precor Elliptical, you have to go through several non-logically titled screens to set up your exercise (and it doesn't walk you through the steps). Also, this Precor Elliptical forced me to hunch over uncomfortably. The most silly thing about this machine is how it takes your pulse. With most other ellipticals, the pulse monitor is in the poles, but not on the Precor. You have to remove your hands from the poles and grip these little metallic posts below the display to get your pulse. Speaking of the poles, why are the handles so fat? They're about as wide as the blade on a rowboat paddle, and are very uncomfortable to grip. But I did manage to eke out my 50 minutes of cardiovascular on the thing. Gold's has an impressive quantity of aerobic machines, but they have squished them all together. The machines are touching each other. If all the machines are in use, this is really cramped quarters. If Gold's was the only gym in town, I suppose I could get it to work for me - but on future visits to the Tri-Cities - I need to check out the Kennewick gyms, and yes, maybe even go back to CBRC. read more

They made me pay for another month because I was ONE DAY into the new month, and charged me a $50 cancelation fee. Fine, whatever, water under the bridge. Until I just checked my bank account and saw that I was charged for ANOTHER month, several weeks after canceling. I called them, they put in the cancelation request AGAIN, and said that they couldn't issue a refund for the month they charged already. They seem really shady at best.
