Legitimately one of the most poorly constructed companies I've ever seen. I had an overdue account that I was not able to log in to because requesting a password reset did nothing. Calling the gym did not work as all the lines have been down. Only after a second email was I able to get a response (the person who responded was nice and helpful, thankfully) and was finally able to reset my password. Logged in, and tried paying the balance on my account only for the website to freeze each time I tried. Now my account is at risk of being sent to collections because their website won't work. Thanks Gold's Gym, your astonishing lack of basic infrastructure amazes me. Save yourself the time and effort by going to Planet Fitness next door, this company truly and utterly sucks. read more

I'll let others post about how filthy this place is and how absent management is, but what I can't understand is why it's so cold in this gym. I know temperature preferences are individual, and I'm aware that there are some individuals who don't want to sweat. But in all objectivity, it's WAY too cold in here. I'm at the point of checking out a couple other gyms down the street. So sad this location is going to shit. read more

The last few months, it's so cold in this gym that I'm having Planet Fitness flashbacks. This opinion is shared by quite a few of the regulars like myself - there several days a week. I've asked staff several times what the deal is- why when it's colder in the gym than it is outside on the coldest days of the week. I'm told there are no temperature controls at this location. That it's set by... a main office? If a regional manager is snoozing on this, somebody apply a bit of common sense here. It can't be in the 50s outside and the club blasting air conditioning. I personally have to cut my workouts a bit short by the time I'm sweating - with a hoodie and sweatpants - bc it's just too cold to workout. I notice a lot of us now working out in winter clothes. It's so illogical. Somebody fix this. Love the gym. Love the staff. But this kills my experience too often. read more

This gym need a DEEP CLEAN! This gym needs trained staff. This gym needs amenities. This gym needs some serious attention. I get it that Planet Fitness is the next block over and Anytime Fitness is right up the street but it isn't a RACE to the BOTTOM. I get that there is competition out there for cheap gym memberships but people will pay for a clean gym to work out in, a sanitary locker room and shower room, and clean weight room/equipment. Witnessed the locker room cleaning person take towels from the dispenser and wipe down the counter without any chemical and mop the floor without sweeping the debris up first. Someone carved "Gods Not Dead" 7/18 in the grime left in the therapy pool. The rim of the pool and the hot tub has a layer of filth. Showers and shower curtains have mildew on them! Shower heads are not tightened and spray everywhere. Handheld shower heads no longer have a slot to fit in so they lay on the shower floor. Lockers are broken. There is no hair dryer in the holster attached to the wall. There is ONE alcohol spray to use to wipe down gear on the gym with paper towels but no cleaning wipes. The front desk staff spend more time on the phone and don't greet clients and customers when they walk in. See picture. They have a challenge taking place right now and the staff isn't trained to sell it or manage it GOLDS! You use to be the ELITE in the gym world. What happened?!!! You are competing with National Fitness and Fort Sanders West. Right now you don't even come close. read more

I don't have any issues with this Gold's Gym. I'm an in-and-out guy, so this works great for me. I love the fact this gym has a world-class heavy bag! So few gyms have this vital piece of equipment! It doesn't matter to me if a machine is 15 years old or so - if it works fine, I've got no issue. I'd like it if the gym was open later in the evening, but for the most part, this has not presented any issues for me. I can go to this gym, and in about ninety minutes, I can get a thorough, full-body workout and go home, shower and get on with the day. read more

Beware of the world's worst music being blasted out of a loud speaker at the front of the gym. I have never heard such horrible music -- is this rock music played by people out of their minds or high on drugs? Train wrecks make a more pleasant sound than that music. Top it all off -- front desk staff are indifferent to complaints about the loud music -- turn it down temporarily and then back up 10 minutes later. I'm looking for a new gym. read more

Great gym and good consistent personal trainers. Ive been going to the gym for almost a year and its pretty clean and if a piece of equipment is down it isnt down for long. People and staff are friendly. I have been working with Adam for several months now and he is good to work around my schedule and has been getting me some gains. Needs cleaned and updated. Showers and locker rooms need to be cleaned more often. Equipment is okay but could use repairs. Most all TV's are off or not working. Spend some money and repair/update your gym. read more

They have a large selection of older equipment that does not appear to be cleaned or maintained well. The facility overall appears dirty. The temperature within is nearly always unbearably hot during the warm months and no fans are present. They also do not typically update their web page when the gym often closes for reasons such as inclement weather. The hours of operation on the weekend around holidays are not ideal. read more

This gym has recently really started to step up their game. The layout right now really utilizes the space this location has to offer. They also just incorporated new barbell bars designed specifically for different things such as CrossFit or deadlifting. The sauna and steam room here seem to always be maintained nicely. Coming from someone who has been to a lot of the gyms in and around Knoxville - this one is a pretty solid option. My only request would be for them to incorporate the digital displays on the bikes like the Farragut location. read more

In January, new people want to join a gym. Weeknights around 7 PM and weekend afternoons and evenings, this club turns into a jungle. Guys lift heavy barbells over their heads and are not strong enough to control the barbell coming down. So they just drop the barbells from overhead. The barbells come down with a noise loud enough to be heard in the locker rooms. The new franchise owners come to visit the gym in the mornings, never at night, and miss out on the jungle atmosphere complete with a large speaker at the front blasting music so loud that you cannot even carry on a conversation. Half the staff quit in the past month. The janitor now sits at the front desk -- do you suppose that has any impact on cleaning the locker rooms? If you have lower class values and want a gym that caters to members who drop overhead barbells and blaring music, then you are a perfect fit. read more

this gym is disgustingly bad. germs and sweat everywhere, but no one seems to care. like the ellipticals. they've been used for fifteen years, and they are corroded with sweat. gross. read more

I frequent this gym quite often, 5-6 times a week. It has great hours of operation and great people, plenty of equipment and duplicates of equipment so when it's busy you don't have to wait. The membership is a bit more than other gyms but you get a better experience, the only thing I don't like is that you can't have a plus 1! Still gets 5 stars though! read more
