There's lots of old reviews on here, but I've had a great experience at this gym! I especially love Tara's Just dance class!! This is literally a hidden gem of Goldsboro, I had no idea such a welcoming gym existed right behind Staples. Tara can slow it down/turn up the heat and she's the reason I'll be back! Great way to get your body moving and have fun at the same time. They have a great childcare, new locker rooms and nice bathrooms. My husband and I went into Golds Gym for a tour. The building clearly says that masks are required. When you walk in there is a large whiteboard that says that in order to "keep your freedoms *wink wink*" to refrain from posting photos on social media inside the gym as they are not requiring masks be worn inside the gym. The girl at the front desk said to us that although the sign says to wear masks, they are not enforcing that rule. I think that this is terribly unhygienic and disturbing as COVID-19 cases are on the rise. Golds Gym please do something about this complete lack of responsibility and care for human life. We definitely will not be bringing our business to Golds Gym. I was unable to take a photo, as I went in without my phone. Believe me though these people have no regard for your health. The weight room here needs some serious updating. This is the better gym for the area so I'm sure business is good enough to make some updates. The dumbbells are falling apart, there's only one free squat rack and the equipment is old. No one ever put their weights back nor do they clean. If it wasn't the only decent gym I would never even think about going here. read more

Please take the time to read this novel... This morning I woke up and headed out to the gym like I have most Saturdays of my adult life. I went to Gold's Gym Goldsboro where I warmed up and started my deadlift workout. After my warmup I proceeded back to the deadlift platform where I was met with 315 pounds left on a bar. I then proceeded to clean up the weight left behind. (To be very specific there was a Rogue Deadlift bar on the platform with bumpers and (2) 45-pound plates.) This was on a Rogue Deadlift platform that has rubber flooring for metal plate use. (Background) I do competitive powerlifting and I do not use a Deadlift bar out of season. I had ankle surgery a few years back and I don't have the mobility that i would like in it so a "Straight Bar" Challanges me more at the bottom of the lift and forces ankle flection. This is why I use a Straight bar or commonly known as a "normal Bar". I Proceed to find a Rogue Straight bar that I have Back squatted 625 on multiple times with no issue. I start warming up and was confronted once i had just placed 225 on that bar. The Gentlemen told me that I could not use that bar for deadlift and that I absolutely HAVE to use the Rogue deadlift bar. Now I have never been told this. There were absolutely ZERO signs of this NOR did my contract say anything about this. So me and the gentlemen shared a few works and I requested to cancel my gym membership. Then I spoke to the manager "Sharon" over the phone were she just laughed at me basically and said that I needed to leave if I was not going to "follow the rules and use that bar". I asked them to show me where I signed that rule and they could not provide me with that information. I said then that is breach of contract. I never agreed to that rule. I then said I won't be paying a cancellation fee then and she laughed again. Basically, I just got kicked out of a gym for using the wrong barbell..... This is not how you operate a business, much less a gym. I have MANY MANY friends that own gyms from Emerald Isle, NC to the damn mountains. They do not operate a gym in this manner. I say all of that to say this. If you want to go to a gym and workout as you, please then I would absolutely not go to the Golds gym in Goldsboro, NC. It is an absolute disgrace to the Golds Name. read more

Not worth the membership cost per month. Yeah they've got the free weight room which needs to be updated and cleaned and new equipment brought in or make the place bigger. There is no sauna or anything of the sort in the locker rooms. For this price, there should at least be better services besides the 3D body scan and a tanning booth. read more

Recently started at golds after years at the YMCA. I toured this gym years ago and always felt that golds gyms are for steroid injecting muscle heads. So I joined the YMCA. As my kids got older and their interest in the YMCA declined I revisited Golds gym. The facility is double the size it was years ago. Way more free weight options than the YMCA. However I love the sauna and steam rooms and golds currently don't have those. My biggest fitness gripe is people that slam weights on the floor or letting a load of weights slam on fitness equipment. Hear idiots are the reason I have to pay extra money to replace equipment. I wish there was more staff involvement with this issues. The first day I'm there a guy dropped 2 90 lbs dumbbells and it was super loud. Put up signs or mention this during sign up. Other than that the staff was nice. Even the cleaning crew was super nice. read more

I have been working out in gyms since I was 12, 35 years ago. I have always had a fondness for Golds and have been a member in 3 cities that I have lived in. This one does not disappoint. It is the 1st 24 hour Golds that I have been to. Just joined, but their equipment is superior as I knew it would be. read more

I've been coming to the Goldsboro Gold's location for the past 2 years and have nothing but great things to say about the facility and staff. The child care program is great for those parents that find it hard to find time to workout, and my little one loves it so much that she pushes me to go get a workout in. The front desk staff is very personable, polite, and attentive. Overall the facilities have gotten a lot better under the guidance of the Manager and countinues to get better! Even during COVID, they are taking all the precautions they can by having the entire facility sanitized weekly and providing sanitizing spray to each member so you're not sharing bottles. Also, the wide variety of classes that are available from cardio, to strength training and even yoga is great! They are also very Military Friendly when it comes to putting your membership on hold when you are going to deploy or even have to cancel due to a PCS. read more

I Love Gold's. I need to have a comfortable atmosphere when I work out. I don't feel like it's overcrowded there or intimidating. They have a variety of machines and even since the pandemic I've seen new machines and upgrades. They have Great staff that are always welcoming. read more

I've been a member of Gold's Gym for over a year and I really enjoy the facility. There's plenty of equipment (treadmills, elliptical,...etc.) available when I arrive and most of the weight machines have pictures to show how to properly use the equipment. They offer several group exercise classes, Monday thru Friday, with a few evening classes available. Also, at your own discretion, they have personal trainers that you can train with, for an additional fee. I love that this facility is 24hrs, so that I can come at my convenience and not have to worry about large crowds. It's a pretty big place, with plenty of room, so that you're not on top of the next person when you're completing your routine. read more

I would give this gym 4 stars, except for the problems that I had because I was a visiting member. My original gym membership was bought in Kansas City. When I bought the membership, I was told that it was good at any Gold's Gym, wherever I go. That was one of the selling points. I have had a Bally's membership for many years, and have had no problems using any Bally's anywhere, for as many times as I want to. However, Bally's is not everywhere, and Gold's tends to have more locations in smaller cities. So, I went to the gym and saw that it was 24 hours! That pleased me immensely. However, it required me to swipe a membership card in order to get in the door. My membership card from Kansas City would not get me in the door. So, I called the number on the sign outside of the gym that says for visitors to call and schedule a tour. No answer. It went to voicemail and the recording said nothing about Gold's Gym. I thought that I may have dialed incorrectly, so I dialed again. The same thing happened. I was bound and determined to get my workout in for the day. So, I went to the website and found a different number for the Gold's Gym in Goldsboro. I called it. It went to voicemail. I left a message. There was yet another number that I called, and then a person answered. I guess that he was the only staff there and he was working on signing up a new member. No big problem, at least I got in. So, I sat there and waited. When the guy came and talked to me, he told me that visiting members are only allowed 14 workouts! That was not cool. I was going to be in town for 6 weeks. There was no way that I could only workout 14 times in 6 weeks. So, I either had to transfer my membership from Kansas City to Goldsboro, which would have been a huge headache. Or I had to buy a membership at this gym. The guy wrote up a 6 week contract for me, and I did it that way. I was not pleased that I was having to buy yet another gym membership, but I had to do it. It is just a bit upsetting that the Gold's membership does not give me the freedom that my Bally's membership does. The gym itself was pretty nice. It was clean, the equipment was new, and all of it (or nearly all of it) was in good working condition. Each piece of cardio equipment had its own tv screen. I never encountered a time where I was not able to get on a piece of equipment. I never really had to wait, even though I did go during peak times once in the while. The women's locker room had two ellipticals in it. All of the lockers were the smaller, half-locker size. I guess that is standard at all Gold's Gyms. There were three showers. One thing that I did notice is that the bathrooms were frequently out of toilet paper. I had a free membership to the YMCA in Goldsboro, but chose to pay the extra money for the Gold's membership because it was more convenient due to the fact that it is open 24 hours. If I am ever back in Goldsboro for an extended period of time, I would probably go back to Gold's. read more

I have been a member of this gym for 3 years and my membership got cancelled. I went to renew it only to be told I had to start fresh. The service was terrible as for as help. The manager and her new cashier were rather rude and defensive about their outrageous prices for equipment built in the 80's. Their attitudes were completely out of line. Trying to demean me; letting me know they were far better than anyone else in the gym. I get this place isn't planet fitness but geez, no need to make it the judgement zone. I will not be returning because the costumer service is worse than McDonald's. read more

I've been here for just over a year...it's becoming a dump. Unorganized, clutter and piss poor management. I mean, the worst management I've ever seen. Equipment and machines are stacked up onto each other really. Trashes are always full. They made a new room that seems like storage of old equipment so that takes away about 400 sq feet. Pins are always missing from weight machines, handles are mis-matched or torn. Gold's members pay a good amount of money, on top of a yearly "equipment fee", to keep things like that from happening. I will be canceling and finding another gym. Plus it's full of D-bags and weirdos. (I'm sure I'm the outcast) And it's starting to stink. read more

Horrible management. What a rip off.Horrible place... Its all a big scam, easy to get in and a nightmare to get out. They trap you with the contract from the beginning. You have to sign the contract when you want to try the 7 days, that's when they start getting you. The machines are old. When I tried to cancel they've charged me the whole contract of 12 months even though I've had paid 5 months already. Besides the fact they keep calling and sending messages over and over when you try to cancel the contract. Read the contract really carefully, that way you can avoid all the nightmare I went trough. They charge and extra fee at the middle of the contract towards the improvement of the equipment , another part of the scam.The owner or manager Danny is really rude and when its related to money they are very vague and don't give clear information. Goldsgym of Goldsboro is not the gym of choice when you have so many other great gyms in the area. The advertise 14.99 a month. The don't tell you that there is a sign up fee. 14.99 a month with 200 down. Then they have you sign a misleading and croupt contract. Every year you have to pay a fee for gym update as if the arm and leg you just gave them isn't enough money to update the gym. They don't tell you this when you sign up either. They also don't tell you that you can't cancel unless you die, have a medical condition that prohibits you from using the gym in anyway or move a certain milage away from any gold gym anywere. IF you are lucky to cancel from this gym then you have to pay a 50 bucks and another month. With all the other non contract choices in Goldsboro I would not even think about signing up at golds gym it not worth the trouble. Never mind the owner doesn't care about customer service or treating his customers right. He is money hungry and will mislead you and minipulate you anyway he can to get you hard earned pennys. Stay away and take your business where they will know you by name and care about you as a person not as a dollar sign.
