5 Stars for a prompt and friendly PCP…read more I've been putting off getting a Primary care physician for a while, but had several people recommend Dr. Maharaj and finally called to schedule a new patient appointment. It took 6 months to get in for my first appointment, but it was worth it because now I'm an established patient and can get in whenever I need. My suggestion? Make the appointment even if you think it's too far out. You can always cancel if you find another PCP that can see a new patient sooner, but establishing yourself as a patient is key. The office is located near the Target shopping plaza just outside of Baldwin Park in an office building. It is pretty basic, but clean and the woman at the front desk was very friendly. A nurse brought me back to take my weight and medical history. He wasn't the friendliest and I heard him tell several patients he was tired (when they asked "Hi! how are you?" I can definitely understand being at work when you're not feeling up to it, but it made me a bit worried he was tired because he was sick and being in a doctor's office already has me worried I'm going to catch something... Anyway, Dr. Maharaj came in and was a pleasure to speak to. She was clearly very knowledgeable, and spent time asking me questions and running a quick physical exam. Overall, I had a great experience and though I hope I won't be there often, I feel I'll be in good hands when I need it. Quick note: Looks like they offer some aesthetic services like botox as well as other services like well-woman exams.

I get my annual physical and well woman exam as well as manipulation because Dr. Maharaj is also an osteopath. It's amazing how she can feel her way around and can tell where your body is off alignment. I always feel amazing after a tune up! I also love that this is a small business. It's private practice, not a big hospital. I feel genuinely cared for by Dr. Maharaj and her entire staff. She even had her son intern one summer and he was so professional and attentive. Almost forgot to mention, she also administers botox, fillers and other beauty procedures. I've never gotten it before and I won't go anywhere else because Dr. Maharaj is an artist with these shots because she makes them look so natural and not overdone. He's always warm-hearted, genuinely caring, fast but doesn't rush. More than worth the drive for me to see him. His office has appointments as early as 7am, as late as 7pm and even on Saturdays. They also offer x-rays, Dexascans, minor surgery, audiological screening-things for which you usually have to get a referral for and cough up another co-pay. They offer aesthetic services, too. My…read moresecond mistake was reading YELP reviews on this practice for their other locations they have and thinking well it will be different at the Semoran Blvd practice. I made a new patient appointment with Dr. Felipe Lugo at Family Physicians Group. I know that the later you make an appointment in the day the longer you wait since Doctors tend to run behind. I choose the first AM appointment once they opened up at 8:30 am thinking I wouldn't necessarily have a wait. Boy was I wrong. Once I was in the patent exam room, I still waited an hour to see the Doctor. I specifically told the Nurse and the Dr, Lugo that I was only there for a new patient physical and NOTHING else. This is because my employer provides a financial incentive into your HSA account to help offset your annual deductible for annual physicals. Both the Nurse and the Physician acknowledge and said they understood the purpose of my visit. Low and behold I get my bill and it was not billed as a physical leaving me with a copay and loosing my financial incentive. I have called the office multiple times and constantly get a busy signal or they will answer and say please hold and immediately put you hold for several minutes. I've left messages with the front desk to ask the Nurse to call me back so they can send the appropriate notes to the Billing Dept but after three attempts asking the Nurse to call back and NOT receiving a return call I've given up. Multiple calls to billing result in the same "busy signal" and the one time I actually did get them I was told the billing codes come from the Physicians office so they can't help. Basically, this practice is way too big to run efficiently. They have over a dozen locations so they have grown so much that they are to inefficient to run an operation. In addition I have been on a medication for years that is quite common and is handled by a Primary Care Physician. The medication does require blood work every 3 months. The doctor didn't seem to understand why he needed to do blood work for this medication every 3 months and I had to educate him on the reason why. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!

When I arrived at the scheduled time, one person sat in the waiting room. That's it. As I spoke to the receptionist, Maggie, to check in, she informed me that I did not have an appt. She asked me who I spoke with, to which I responded that I couldn't remember her name. She said they don't keep records of phone calls so there was no record that I had called, even though I showed her my record. I asked her if they could sneak me in or do anything for me since they dropped the ball. She said all the doctors were fully booked. Let's remember that there was one person in the waiting room. ONE. She told me I could go to urgent care if I wanted or wait to speak to a nurse. I waited to speak to a nurse. The nurses name is Jessica and she was kind but just told me the same thing. She also said I could speak to an office manager on Monday. No thanks, I will go get the proper service elsewhere. I'll also mention that they have given me three doctors in 5 years. 3! When I lived in Michigan, I had the same physician since I was young throughout early adulthood. Please refrain from using this location. They do not actually care about helping people and are ludicrously incompetent. I did get upset and cry, but I have been in pain for over a week and their indifference was truly awful.

I will not compromise unless I find someone who is kind, patient, sweet, experienced, thorough and extremely knowledgeable--Dr. Bumgarner is all of those things. After our first visit with her I was absolutely delighted and felt so grateful to have found someone like her for my little one. The nurses are also wonderful and everyone in the staff shares the same wonderful traits to make you feel completely at ease, reassured and welcome. From the moment you arrive, or even when you call, they make you feel like a priority and well taken care of. Oh, and it's worth mentioning that the clinic is spotless and super, super cute! Dr very nice and sweet but asks leading questions when given a sample of the brand name and a generic prescription for migraines, she asks if the brand name works? I said "yes it does" so she only documents that in the progress note and nothing about the generic that she already gave me 36 pills for prior, so THAT is why the nurse tech assumed correctly that when I called for my migraine medication refilled, she initiated a request for the brand name medication I had only 2 sample pills of prior. This then began a long insurance process unbeknownst to both myself and the Dr, however, when I asked to cancel the prior auth for the brand name and just refill my generic migraine meds, he continues to say he will "put a request in and ask the doctor for a recommendation". I explained that's what I had been advocating for & that it's been 3 weeks of back and forth phone calls while I'm working with these debilitating migraines. The office manager states that he "doesn't know what I want" and he will be discharging me with a 30-day prescription for the generic migraine meds I INITIALLY ASKED HIM FOR at the beginning of this 20-min conversation. Will try to push the prescription name brands of medications just to receive a kickback even at the expense of the patient. Shameful. I profusely THANKED him for doing the wow-so-difficult service of sending my prescription migraine medication so I can stop this pounding in my head and not have to jump through hoops because his nurse tech "didn't know" better. The patient is suffering and their lack of care and regard to save face and ego is shameful.
