I test-rode a couple of bikes at first and honestly wasn't in love with the initial options. Ian, who helped me, never rushed me or tried to push a sale. His focus was clearly on making sure I ended up with the right bike for Eastern Iowa riding--not just any bike. He eventually recommended a Kona they had on display that was already outfitted with excellent tires and some really nice upgrades. I took it out for a ride and immediately loved it. Even though I own other bikes, this is the one I keep reaching for--I've been riding it consistently ever since. What really stood out was that I never felt "sold to." Goldfinch is all about matching you with the right gear, whether that's the right bike, accessories, or equipment. They did a great job getting everything dialed in and even threw in a couple of extras, which was a thoughtful touch. We've been back several times since to look at bags and other gear, and every visit reinforces why I like this shop. I so appreciate Lillian taking the time to help me pick out a bike I knew I would be happy with. She was in no hurry for me to make a decision and nor was I. I got to test drive a bike on a trail and even rented a bike for several days to try out. I know without a doubt I chose a good bike for me. And then she surprisingly pulls out a color I love at the conclusion of our deliberation. I'll eventually buy another bike so when I have a friend over there's no excuse not to take a ride! The Employees are friendly and incredibly knowledgeable. I took my bike in for a tuneup and they walked through everything they would do in easy to understand terms. When I picked it up and was asking questions about accessories, they took the time to show me around and made sure I got exactly what I needed. Taking it one step further, I asked them to check out my bike rack to make sure that I had it installed correctly. They happily came out and made sure that everything looked good. This bike shop is a throwback to when customers was truly taken care of. You will undoubtedly run into one the 4 passionate owners if you visit the shop. They know bikes! The love keeping old bikes on the street and wont rip you off! I was told my trek carbon 2300 was unrepairable, and i should spend a couple k on a new one. For $100 my bike is like new. Both my mom and boyfriend have purchased bikes here, I already own a bike so I've just gone with them or picked up some supplies here and there. What a great team that works here. Every time I've gone in whoever has helped us has been kind and knowledgeable. My mom was really struck by the level of service this past weekend when she got her bike that they didn't seem to be pushing her to buy a bike, but were looking to find her the best bike to fit her needs. There's clearly a consistent sales process that is followed in the shop and it's one that works to provide individualized service and results. I was looking for a hard to fiind Salsa Beargrease X01 and found one at Goldfinch. Logan took my inquiry telephone call and was absolutely professional and courteous. I told him that I woould be coming from the Chicago area and to please call me if the bike sold before I got there. It did not and when I met Logan, saw the store and other staff, I knew right away that this was a place that knew what it was doing. Bought the bike, they set it all up for me and I can't say enough good things about the experience. I drove 180 miles one way and would have driven even farther if I had too! Great job all around. My husband and I visited this wonderful bicycle shop today on our visit from Chicago to Cedar Rapids. We talked with Chad who is one of the owners. He couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. He spent an hour with us explaining all kinds of bike accessories and was so knowledgeable and experienced. We didn't even buy anything, but if we lived here, I would give him all my biking business. Later we went biking on a local trail and couldn't locate the trailhead so we called the Goldfinch Cyclery. They gave us the directions we needed to get to the trail and have a great ride. If I lived here, I would go to this bike shop all the time. They aren't pushy, and are so nice. read more

I'm very pleased with my experience with this newer bike shop. Logan and staff were super friendly and attentive when I walked in the door for service. I assumed that I'd have to leave my mountain bike for a few days so they could complete the repair on my brakes, but before I even had a chance to blink, they had it on a stand and we're getting ready to start the repairs. Their time and cost estimate were both right on, they got me fixed up, and out the door in record time. I'll definitely use these guys again. Their decor fits in wonderfully in New Bo. Goldfinch found the perfect bike for me. I'm 70 and need a solid bike, but I want performance, too. They had in-stock any accessories I needed; they did not push unneeded extras. They insisted that I try it out for fit and comfort. The owners are young and local. I know that they initiate and sponsor different cycling events which appeal to different abilities and age groups. Their service department is speedy, accurate, and reasonable. They are avid riders. They know their bikes and how to satisfy the needs of their customers.
