Here's the revised Yelp review with Ian properly credited and that detail woven in naturally: Buying a bike from Goldfinch Cyclery back in August turned out to be a fantastic decision. We had just moved to the area, and someone recommended Goldfinch when I mentioned I was looking for a new bike. I'm so glad I listened. I test-rode a couple of bikes at first and honestly wasn't in love with the initial options. Ian, who helped me, never rushed me or tried to push a sale. His focus was clearly on making sure I ended up with the right bike for Eastern Iowa riding--not just any bike. He eventually recommended a Kona they had on display that was already outfitted with excellent tires and some really nice upgrades. I took it out for a ride and immediately loved it. Even though I own other bikes, this is the one I keep reaching for--I've been riding it consistently ever since. What really stood out was that I never felt "sold to." Goldfinch is all about matching you with the right gear, whether that's the right bike, accessories, or equipment. They did a great job getting everything dialed in and even threw in a couple of extras, which was a thoughtful touch. We've been back several times since to look at bags and other gear, and every visit reinforces why I like this shop. They remember my name, they're genuinely friendly and personable, and it's clear they truly care about the cycling community in the Cedar Rapids and Iowa City area. If you're looking to buy a bike or want a shop that puts cyclists first, I highly recommend Goldfinch Cyclery. read more

Goldfinch Cyclery - Kona bike! - Bikes Near Me - Cedar Rapids, Iowa

I so appreciate Lillian taking the time to help me pick out a bike I knew I would be happy with. She was in no hurry for me to make a decision and nor was I. I got to test drive a bike on a trail and even rented a bike for several days to try out. I know without a doubt I chose a good bike for me. And then she surprisingly pulls out a color I love at the conclusion of our deliberation. I'll eventually buy another bike so when I have a friend over there's no excuse not to take a ride! My dear avid biker son, who is no longer here, liked working with Gold Finch and now I know why. The kindness of the people who work there is worthy of mention also. Happy to support this small local business! read more

Always a warm greeting from a highly competent staff and an ability to solve whatever foolish question/request that I have. Great selection of bikes and gear and a 1st class service department. read more

When you go to any kind of specialty shop, you want to feel a level of confidence in the employees. As soon as you walk into Goldfinch Cyclery you feel that confidence. The Employees are friendly and incredibly knowledgeable. I took my bike in for a tuneup and they walked through everything they would do in easy to understand terms. When I picked it up and was asking questions about accessories, they took the time to show me around and made sure I got exactly what I needed. Taking it one step further, I asked them to check out my bike rack to make sure that I had it installed correctly. They happily came out and made sure that everything looked good. This place was phenomenal! If you need any kind of cycling gear or supplies, this is your shop! read more

Super awesome crew of people. Not only do they provide excellent repair and maintenance services, and sell great bikes and accessories, but the group rides this place organizes and hosts are fantastic! During the warmer months, you can count on weekly rides that vary from gravel, to pavement, to singletrack mountain bike trails. After the rides, they provide snacks and beverages, and you can count on making a friend or two as you chill out with everyone. read more

The employees of this store are the most knowledgeable, helpful, kind, and bike loving folks that we've encountered at the various bike shops in the area. We were so impressed by their willingness to help us and answer any and all questions. They have the attitudes that make us fall in love with the biking community! The equipment kept in store is versatile, high quality and practical. When we needed a new bike size ordered, they didn't hesitate to help us and it was in store ready to ride only a few days later. read more

Came in with a broken spoke and was helped in a very timely manner by Andy. Andy and the rest of the staff there was very courteous, knowledgeable and honest about my bike problem and worked with me to find a cost effective and fast solution. Was able to get my bike in working condition in less than an hour! I would definitely recommend this bike shop to anyone in the CR area read more

Great, friendly bike shop. Affordable and high quality service. Great selection of bikes and accessories. Highly recommend!

This bike shop is a throwback to when customers was truly taken care of. You will undoubtedly run into one the 4 passionate owners if you visit the shop. They know bikes! The love keeping old bikes on the street and wont rip you off! I was told my trek carbon 2300 was unrepairable, and i should spend a couple k on a new one. For $100 my bike is like new. These guys have all my business! read more

Awesome bike shop located in the NewBo district. Service department is as good as it gets! Prices are reasonable and all the guys that work there are super cool and very knowledgeable. Additionally, they are open when most bike shops are closed, later evening hours and open weekends, including Sunday! read more

Both my mom and boyfriend have purchased bikes here, I already own a bike so I've just gone with them or picked up some supplies here and there. What a great team that works here. Every time I've gone in whoever has helped us has been kind and knowledgeable. My mom was really struck by the level of service this past weekend when she got her bike that they didn't seem to be pushing her to buy a bike, but were looking to find her the best bike to fit her needs. There's clearly a consistent sales process that is followed in the shop and it's one that works to provide individualized service and results. Also, this is maybe the first bike shop I've been in where everyone seems to be happy to be there rather than cranky or aloof. I cannot recommend Goldfinch highly enough! read more

Was out for a bike ride with my wife and somehow broke a spoke. It was just after 5 and out of all the choices on Google, this was the only place open. I was half expecting to have to leave the wheel and pick it up tomorrow. To my surprise the guy asked if we could hang out for a few minutes while he replaced it. I highly recommend this place. Very clean, great atmosphere and professional courteous staff! read more

I was looking for a hard to fiind Salsa Beargrease X01 and found one at Goldfinch. Logan took my inquiry telephone call and was absolutely professional and courteous. I told him that I woould be coming from the Chicago area and to please call me if the bike sold before I got there. It did not and when I met Logan, saw the store and other staff, I knew right away that this was a place that knew what it was doing. Bought the bike, they set it all up for me and I can't say enough good things about the experience. I drove 180 miles one way and would have driven even farther if I had too! Great job all around. If you're near, (or far!), this is the place to buy your bike! Thanks again Logan. Keep up the great job. read more

Goldfinch Cyclery - Bikes Near Me - Cedar Rapids, Iowa

My husband and I visited this wonderful bicycle shop today on our visit from Chicago to Cedar Rapids. We talked with Chad who is one of the owners. He couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. He spent an hour with us explaining all kinds of bike accessories and was so knowledgeable and experienced. We didn't even buy anything, but if we lived here, I would give him all my biking business. Later we went biking on a local trail and couldn't locate the trailhead so we called the Goldfinch Cyclery. They gave us the directions we needed to get to the trail and have a great ride. If I lived here, I would go to this bike shop all the time. They aren't pushy, and are so nice. read more

I'm very pleased with my experience with this newer bike shop. Logan and staff were super friendly and attentive when I walked in the door for service. I assumed that I'd have to leave my mountain bike for a few days so they could complete the repair on my brakes, but before I even had a chance to blink, they had it on a stand and we're getting ready to start the repairs. Their time and cost estimate were both right on, they got me fixed up, and out the door in record time. I'll definitely use these guys again. Their decor fits in wonderfully in New Bo. I wish these guys the best and highly recommend you give it a shot. read more

Goldfinch found the perfect bike for me. I'm 70 and need a solid bike, but I want performance, too. They had in-stock any accessories I needed; they did not push unneeded extras. They insisted that I try it out for fit and comfort. The owners are young and local. I know that they initiate and sponsor different cycling events which appeal to different abilities and age groups. Their service department is speedy, accurate, and reasonable. They are avid riders. They know their bikes and how to satisfy the needs of their customers. Go there knowing that you'll leave satisfied. I'll state it again, I love my new bike- a Surly. read more

These guys are all awesome. My son and I stopped by on our ride to pick up a couple things on a Wednesday but they were closed. They were inside doing inventory stuff but came and unlocked the door anyway to see if we needed anything or could help us regardless of their hours. They're just as cool when you stop in while they're open too... Absolutely the best bike shop in town. read more

I'm an avid bike rider, but really didn't know all that much about the best type of bike I should have for the types of rides I go on. The folks at Goldfinch Cyclery were so knowledgeable and helpful... they selected a couple of options for me, and explained the benefits of each bike. The bikes aren't cheap... but I do believe they're a good value. There's a great vibe and energy in the shop... no attitude, and the guys just want to help out their customers anyway they can. I highly recommend Goldfinch. read more

On our #Hopbrai ride. Someone broke a pedal. Goldfinch found one off a scrapped bike and he was on his way. Love these guys!
