This is my first review at Yelp. I rarely write reviews, but GKE's customer service is a rarity in today's world and deserves a mention. I shipped my car from CA to GA during the first week of June 2013. This is the first time I shipped a car and as another reviewer mentioned, the most stressful thing for my move, even more so considering that I personally invested a lot of time and effort maintaining and caring for my car. I spent over a month thoroughly reviewing every company. Most companies were brokers and I was very close to booking with a broker until I somehow found Golden Key Express online. After reading the reviews of GKE, I was sold even though it cost a little more than the brokers. Al arrived on time to pick up my car and the car was at the destination within the pickup window timeframe. There was an incident on the way to GA, but the response by Harold (owner of Golden Key Express) was phenomenal. I do understand that issues can occur, and I judge the company by how they respond. And GKE's response was above and beyond my expectations (based on reading reviews of how other companies responded to similar issues). What a wonderful experience. As most of you probably know, it is very nerve wracking to be able to ship your car anywhere. And hard to find someone you trust. Golden Key Express was recommended to me by a friend, and I am so happy they did. Their price was competitive, they were extremely accommodating with the pick up even though in the midst of a move I forgot to take off my roof rack. Harold, my driver could not have been nicer. He called a couple of days in advance and let me know where he was and the estimated time of arrival. He answered all my questions, and kept me informed throughout the process. The price was very reasonable, and it took four days from pickup to delivery. In an industry where deception and double talk seems to be the norm, this company stands out as a welcome bright spot. First, I should stipulate that this is NOT a paid review. Holly in the GKE office was professional and helpful. She answered our questions clearly and checked on concerns that we had. We shipped out Chevy Silverado from Connecticut to Los Angeles February 29, 2016. It arrived today, March 10, 10 days on the button. Rick, our driver called us twice before picking it up and we arranged to meet him in a nearby commuter lot. He too, was very thorough and professional. On the LA end, he called our son twice as well to arrange the drop off. It made more sense to deal directly with the shipper than to go thru a broker. Of the many reviews which we read, problems seemed to be centered around delays in getting a shipper (price quoted probably too low) leading to 1. delays in pick up and 2.increases in price. Then there were the problems with shippers....which many brokers seem to try to distance themselves from. GKE is a relatively small family run business. Would we use them again? after looking at all the broker sites and getting bids via ubid etc, i found Golden Key. brokers arent bad but you can see from car transport reviews people dont understand the process, and think they are talking to a trucking company when they are talking to a broker. So i felt lucky to find a trucking company, who bid on my transport and only used their own truck for this. after the initial bid of about 1250 (which was very competitive!) for moving a vintage land rover defender from florida to oakland CA, they told me it would cost more if i could not remove the large permanent roof rack, because it would take an extra space on the truck and could only ride on the very back spot. so it was 1698.00 in all, but hey, for very good reason. I accepted, they delivered the car as expected and on time! I will always look to golden key first from now on to see if they can move vehicles for me... read more

I had a very bad experience with a Florida broker when trying to ship my car from MD to CA. After many lies and broken promises I did some more research and found out about GKE. They were honest with me from the start and picked up and delivered the car right on schedule. Al, the driver, was easy to get hold of and was able to give me a good indication of exactly what time he would be picking up and delivering the car a couple of days before the estimated pickup/delivery date. My gf had to transport her car from NJ to San Diego and I looked for a car transporter for days online. A lot of companies had bad reviews so I was hesitant. Then, everyone I asked for referrals didn't have any since their experience was bad with who they hired. I even talked to a guy that buys, fixes, and re-sells cars and buys cars from all around the country and he said he wasn't happy with all the transport companies he hired in the past 2 1/2 years. A common theme I found is that most people hired a broker and it was a hit or miss. They hide this upfront but it's in their contract. So, I was committed to finding a direct transporter instead of going through a broker. I found Golden Key Express and I'm glad I did. They were absolutely awesome. The price was $400 cheaper than the most inexpensive broker. I got it done for $1098 from coast to coast when most other companies were $1500-$2100. I think the reason it was a great experience other than the fact the car was picked up and dropped off when they said it would be was that they communicated the whole time and it was very convenient. I couldn't meet them for the drop off and neither could my gf so they dropped it off at a car storage facility that they have a relationship with that only charged me $45 to hold the car for a few days. When I called to pick it up they gave it a wash and I got it spotless. How can you beat that? Inexpensive, convenient, great communication, no damage, a car wash, and they're flexible. Even the driver was in constant communication with us letting us know what state he was in and his estimated time of arrival. I would recommend them to anyone looking to do a transport. The bottom line is, if you want a worry free transaction, you have to pay the price. Initially, we thought Golden Key's quote was a little too much. But when we thought about how much peace of mind we would have in exchange, we thought it was really worth it. These are folks who truly walk the talk. We have nothing but good things to say, especially about transporter/driver, Zoly. He was most polite & very efficient. So efficient that we never had to make a single follow-up call to his cell phone during the entire transport because he constantly kept us in the loop. ETA was 2-3 days early. GKE was a good find. Had a hard time getting up to speed on the car transport business; most businesses in this field you'll find on yelp are brokers, but GKE is a carrier. Their staff was friendly and responded promptly. Our driver was awesome, always answered our calls, and his pickup estimate was on the last day of the window but it was right on thank goodness. I can't say enough good things about working with Golden Key. About a week before Christmas, I found out I was moving cross country (California to Maryland). With the holiday, I had about 24 hours to make all the move arrangements. I was referred to GKE through a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend.... I knew nothing about them other than the 'I heard this company might be good'. The online reviews were stellar. I talked with Misty and found out that they had a spot and a truck going on the route that I needed. The cost was very, very reasonable, especially considering they are not a broker. I knew exactly who was going to be handling my car at every step of the process, which was very important to me. I did not want a broker dealing with my car. Misty was very upfront with what the transport schedule would be since Christmas was in the middle of the transport and the driver would be home for Christmas (which also made me more comfortable quite honestly). The pick up went exactly as planned - the driver, Danny, called the day before and arranged. The drop off also was exactly as planned. Again, a call about a day before arrival so I could even plan my day. My car arrived within the time frame and in great condition as well. All around, just a wonderful company to deal with. After losing my mind in the search for an auto transport company that wouldn't scam me, I spent weeks on end going through reviews, getting quotes, and following all the recommended steps to not get scammed (turns out moving and auto transport companies are one of the biggest scammers in the country). When finding a company to transport my car, i came across a LOT of sketchy companies that wanted a lot of money up front to "reserve". I'm so glad I came across Golden Keys and all the reviews online. I felt comfortable placing my brand new car and my business with them. The quoting process was efficient and fast. Misty helped me get the ball rolling in no time. My car delivery took about two weeks long then expected as there was a delay before my car got picked up, and a long delay during transit because the truck was having mechanical issues. I really can't knock any stars off for that, though it was annoying having such a big delay. Misty and Jack were beyond friendly and professional. Jack called me every few days to give me an update and he apologized profusely for the delay. I really can't say enough about the customer service, definitely above par. I recently used GKE for a move from Atlanta to CA, which cost me $1100. Although it was not the cheapest quote out there, I was hoping for the best service as opposed to the lowest rate, and I certainly did receive excellent service! Between the time I placed my order to the time my car was picked up, I was able to reach Misty either by phone or email without any problem, and she answered all of my questions. The driver (Al)picked my car up on the date I requested, and he also texted me that day to keep me abreast of his location. When I arrived in CA, he met me right near the airport and delivered my car to me as promised. Pl He was kind and pleasant to deal with. Placing your car on a truck to go across country with a man you've never met isn't a comfortable experience for anyone, and GKE made it as comfortable as it could possibly be. I've Never left a review of anyone on Yelp before but felt obligated to after what an amazing job Harold did taking care of our cross country car move. He is a true example of old school white glove customer service. He runs his own company so you know what you are getting. I searched for awhile and kept getting brokers and had a horrendous experience with one in the past and didn't want to go that route again and got SUPER lucky and stumbled upon Golden Key and talked to harold on the phone. He was incredibly helpful and orginally had a full load but was kind enough to give me the names and number of 2 others in the business he trusted and recommended I reach out. As luck would have it my scheduling with Harold worked out in the end and I was able to have him swing by and pick up two suvs for us in MI and send them to CA. He was on time, gave constant updates, and everythign couldn't have been any smoother. He and Teddy (trusted side kick pooch that travels with him) are the best in the business!
