In early 2005, I was planning to purchase, a couple gold coins, from this shop. I offered to pay with debit card from my bank, or Visa credit card. THEY REFUSED THE SALE. Saying that I will defraud them demanding payment with bank transfer only . Imagine at Neiman Marcus fine jewelry counter, buying a Swiss watch, giving the sales clerk your platinum Visa ( these cards are high credit limit 5 grand and up), & sales clerk screaming, that it is a fraud. Wouldn't you be shocked and dismayed at such behavior? Well these small town hillbillies, pulled that on me. They soured thousands of dollars worth of sale. With credit card on line purchases, if item is not described correctly , you can ask the bank to pull the funds. I believe that was the cause, refusing my payment. read more

stay away from these guys. they send you coins in terrible condition (worst milk spotting i've ever seen and ugly toning) and the listing says nothing about even the possibility of having milk spots. they make it seem like you are receiving brilliant uncirculated coins and even state that in the listing. all other companies list if there is even the remote possibility of milk spots. their communication is non existent. this could have easily all been taken care of and exchanged but they won't even respond to emails which shows they think they did nothing wrong and this is their usual practice. do business with sd bullion, monument metals, bullion exchanges, etc instead. they stand by their word and will take care of their customers. not a good way to treat a repeat customer. buyer beware!!! read more

Have been going to the store to purchase and sell for years. Always good service, always good prices. I do wish they wore gloves when handling uncirculated silver, but so far I've not ended up with any finger prints or smudges. The first coins I received from them were scratched and smudged. When I called the store, I was shocked to find out that they do not use Jewelers gloves to handle their coins. Each month when I went to buy more, they didn't remember who I was and I had to go through a song and dance with them. They also use the US postal service as their primary mailer. Needless to say, my last batch of coins got lost in the mail. Their website says that the coins are insured, but that's a lie the lady just very nastily hung up the phone on me when I told her I didn't receive my last batch, and continue to hang up every time I called back. read more

Because they were not listed for the buy price on the website I called and confirmed a price to sell 40 proof silver eagles at 75 each. I went to the retail location the next day and they would not honor that price. I was told it was a mistake and they offered to buy them at $62 per coin. I insisted on them honoring their quote and they said they will not loose $500 on the transaction and that 75 was their sell price not the buy. (not sure they could loose money at all by buying at their sell price (even if true as below) that would be break even except for a handling fee. Drove all the way here from Woodbridge, VA. Was told by the maskless employee at the front window that the show room was closed due to the uptik in COVID. Fine. Yet, meanwhile other folks got to go in the showroom and deal with another employee who had a mask on that was not covering his nose, so in other words a useless covering. We ordered two sheets of uncut uncirculated $2.00 32 to a sheet. We waited, waited, and waited for delivery. When a delivery came, the tube was damaged and there was only one sheet. Golden Eagle Coins charged us over 2.5 times the cost the US Mint charged of $102.00 per sheet. The damage to the tube damaged the sheet inside and the postman told us he knew we were getting $2.00 bills. Very bad shipping and we didn't receive the entire order. Buyer beware, other companies do far better job of great customer service. read more

Got a price quote on a gold coin and a verbal lock in on Monday, a day later gold is actually up so I called to verify my lock in price before driving in (especially when gas is $5 a gallon) only to hear the owner state that the buy price had gone down from $955 to $875 yet GOLD WENT UP! Have a feeling the other price was a bait and switch but either way some shifty shady practices going on currently, an I love shopping here but this rubbed me the wrong way Golden Eagle, integrity means little in the gold game I guess. read more

Prices are fairly competitive but shipping is terrible. Deliveries require a signature which is good. However, they use a shipper which only gives a delivery window of a full day and doesn't provide heads-up when delivery vehicle in near by (like UPS). So if you happen to be unavailable for the few minutes delivery arrives then forget it, it doesn't get delivered that day. read more

I've been waiting two weeks since I ordered and I haven't seen my product shipped. This is ridiculous.

I would not recommend buying from Golden Eagle. It took two weeks after they cashed my check to mail my order. No responses to any emails.

There is something very wrong if not unethical about this company. I've placed 7 orders with them over a year. Each has gotten progressively worse. They take a CC backup but still hold your metals for UP TO 30 DAYS!!! I have had to call multiple times' to follow up on 5 of 7 orders. They say; "we didn't receive payment" when they have already deposited the funds in their bank WEEKS earlier. HtH can this be? While, I get it is a family business and I actually want to support them, they must run their operations, site and accounting with much greater efficiency to gain customer trust. My "trust" level has plummeted with Golden Eagle. I'm just not sure I have confidence to place new orders until things change or have faith anymore in their ability to deliver responsibly. Finally, their managers/owners duck calls instead of being responsible. The very nice CSRs help, but have no answers and have to put you on long holds to "find out what is going on" (not a confidence builder). Its a no go ever getting a manager on the phone; they are always "busy". This adds to my increasing doubts in the company. Too bad! We really need GOOD small businesses in this country. read more

I expected the experience to be really difficult and deal with people who weren't exactly on the up and up but i was very happily surprised. I came in and dealt with a nice you g man while an older man helped another couple, i had a South African Krugerrand and within maybe 5 minutes i was all finished with a check in hand. They were very helpful with different tips as far as getting into or getting rid of a collection and i'll definitely be back here before i go anywhere else, this is my first stop. read more

I visited this shop for the first time a couple weeks ago. My first impression was that it was a well-kept shop with great variety in product selection. But then... I walked inside and no one said a word. It felt as though I was unwelcome there. A lady behind the counter then asked "do you have any money?"... what a rude question! I was on a break for work so was dressed professionally so not sure what prompted this behavior of treating a customer like some sort of vagrant. I spent $500 there but that was my last purchase at this shop. Yes, I have money, and I will take it elsewhere. Oh, and their premiums are high as well. I have done business with Bob Sr. for years and was always treated like a valued customer, and paid fair prices for the items I sold & charged fair prices for items I bought. I stopped in last week to sell some surplus coins (silver half dollars from 20s and 30s). These were mostly filler, but 3 or 4 were nice, VG or better grade. The rude old woman with long grey hair who waited on me,sighed, flipped through my coins with a pen, said that they were melt quality and offered me $1 a coin.......I guess this once fine store is now a pawn shop thieving from the ignorant. $15 for 15 silver half dollars....Avoid these ripoff artists&deal with a real coin shop with integrity read more

I love this place!! I've visited this place numerous times and have never had a bad experience. MOST of the prices are really good although you can check them out online and compare their prices to other online sites. You can then do an order and pick up if your local or pay the extra and have them ship it to you. They have a very wide selection of coins and their coins are a great quality. If you do pick up in person just beware that you will pay tax unless your order surpasses $1,000 but this is a state law and not their decision. At least it's better than VA where you have to pay tax on the purchase regardless. Make sure you get there early otherwise it can get crowded!! I guess thats what happens when you have a good business! Overall my overall experience here is worth 5 stars and they make me feel wanted and that my business is appreciated. i have been buying coins from Golden Eagle since 2009. In that time, I have had zero trouble. The site allows you to purchase coins and precious metals. Be warned however, the prices on the site are for purchases made by check, money order, cashier's check etc. They will let you send a personal check by mail. Called today, spoke with nice lady who said 10 days, she offered for me to speak with manager, I said yes. Waiting on hold for 2 minutes, spoke with someone who said it is 10 days for first time buyers, I said why not say that on your web site. He said "precious metals is a risky business". I'm very disappointed in the poor customer services from online sales with Golden Eagle Coin. On the morning of 3/10, I purchased and paid for a Dansco coin album. I received an email back that shipping is estimated as 3/13. It's late afternoon of 3/16 and they still haven't shipped. Emails to the company hasn't yielded a reason, only that early this morning they said they'll check on it. No update or anything on why after a week of receiving payment, it hasn't shipped. Customer service seems non-existent. I'm changing my review from 1 to 3 stars. It turns out that they had shipped by coin album on 3/13. It's just that they're too disorganized to be able to tell me that they shipped it to tell me when I asked about the status. They didn't even know they had shipped it to me until I emailed them to tell them that I received it. read more

Up until my last purchase I was a completely satisfied customer of Golden Eagle Coins for many years. The quality of their products always met my high standards. Unfortunately, the quality and service I received on my last purchase was the poorest I have ever seen anywhere for coin purchases. I purchased a 4 coin gold set, at a cost of just under $3,000, Upon removing the set from the shipping box, the case literally fell apart in my hands with the coins and the case leave falling to the floor. There was no damage to the shipping box or the box the coin case was in which tells me the coin case left Golden Eagle in this poor condition which further tells me that whomever packed it, knew the condition the case was in and still packed and shipped it out. Golden Eagle has seen fit not to respond to any of my questions over multiple e-mails as to what to do about this. Customer Satisfaction guarantied - NOT!
