I passed this shop in April 2014 and found the concept so interesting - discontinued hotel dishes - that I took a picture and vowed to return. And on Saturday I finally made it back, on a mission to find plates to complete a decorative plate wall above my couch. I was not disappointed- there are so, SO many dishes (sometimes too many... you need to be careful walking around or moving anything), and I found some in all colors of the rainbow to use for my soon-to-be piece of living room art.
The owner/operator is very helpful. She let us take the plates we had selected outside to the sidewalk to see if they all went together nicely, and helped us dislodge some plates from precarious positions. Only a few dishes are in sets (for example, six dinner plates or two cups and two saucers). 90% can be purchased separately and it's possible to buy just one plate from a particular set or design.
I've deducted one star because the lighting is poor - I had to use the light on my phone to see what color some of the dishes were, particularly in the back. And she must have a cat because there were cat hairs on many of the plates, but nothing my dishwasher can't handle.
To note: they are open every day in December from 12:30-17:00. Enjoy! read more
