Totally changed their online banking and it sucks!! My daughter's account, my money market account, and my 2 savings accounts ALL just merged together with my checking account. All my passwords changed and when I contacted Golden 1's live chat, I waited for an hour and a half before someone talked to me!! Told them to take my daughter's account OFF! The answer was, "there's the option to block it so you won't see it". WTF?? Told them "NO! IT NEEDS TO BE TAKEN OFF"!! So that's their new so called look that's going to make my banking easier!!! By merging my accounts (and my daughter's account that doesn't belong to me) together? When I logged in I saw my daughter's account balances and transactions, she didn't even get a notification that someone had just accessed her account. GOLDEN 1 YOU FUCKED-UP!! Horrific lines, terrible incompetence. I do Not recommend. I checked my online accounts to find my Certificate of Deposit had disappeared. They had placed it in another account! Love my bank but... they definitely need more than 2 tellers at a time... there's always a line and the reason is because every time I go in there's 2 cashiers helping, and like 3 "supervisors" just walking around that could jump on and help minimizes these long lines. And furthermore the cashiers or tellers are very chatty, making the wait time unnecessary longer! read more

The Madera Ca. branch Golden One has always been a joke ever since I opened my account with them. And I didn't really have a choice to not have it and continually still do. My only other option would be the other questionable institution, BofA. As these are the two that would take the States IOUs should the state government has fiscal issues. Today I try to go in personally to do a cash withdrawal and I see two different signs indicating different opening hours. One's painted on door, another on a orange flyer taped to a window. The flyer advertises a "GOLDEN HOUR", which is for appointments set prior to 10am. I find out that HOUR is between 9 -9:45am (!!??) Can you say 11" footlong. Frigging morons. I need to find another credit union. These people are useless. I'm getting close to retirement. Maybe I'll chance it and close this joke account and go to EECU. read more

Still this place has the absolute slowest service 3 of 7 windows are being used 2 workers at one window what a place to be standing after a knee surgery couldn't sit because a whole family was occupying the chairs this USED to be a good bank don't know what happened people are doing stuff at the windows they need appointments for apperantly read more

This is a scam organization, this is a warning to all active military and Veterans and also people that travel or move a lot. Do not get a loan such as a home, vehicle or personal. If you have to move out of there state you are not allowed to refinance or even change your loan. They will let you go in debt before helping you even if you been paying them for years they will not help you if you move out of California. But they will keep taking your money. They do not mention this in there contacts and they will be receiving a law suite. Such by talking on the phone you can tell how shady this bank is and very unsatisfactory technology and they won't return your calls or send you proof of this regulation. The staff here is very friendly and attentive. I just wish they had more people working. I go into the bank at different times at least once a week, it always seems to be busy. I always have to wait 15-25 minutes. The parking is horrible as well and the ATM machines outside always seem to be broken and the lines are just as bad outside as inside. read more

I have used this bank for more than 20yrs. Not always fast but mostly friendly. To day I was denied to change from a visa transfer off a bofa card.for my ca.disability. I have used this card for 6 months. Without notice they decided to not take cards without a chip in it. Walking & standing are very hard for me . But I was in line 15mins thensent across town to BofA. To get cash so now back to Golden 1 to put in my account. Again too much standing & walking. read more

I have banked at G1 for almost 5 years and my wife for over 10. This G1 is the worst. I can travel 45 minutes to Turlock and be served faster than this bank. They never have more than 3 windows open during their busy time. I think they take advantage of the lower income customers by not servicing them like they do in Turlock or even Sacramento. read more

Let me start by saying I hate going into credit unions... and I dislike going into banks even more. I moved into this area a few years back and wanted a local branch for transactions to large for an ATM. I opened an account at a Golden One for its promise of great online banking and no fees if a minimum balance is maintained. Suffice it to say I still do all of my online banking with the CU from my previous county. Well back to this branch. This branch is not in my home area so I used Yelp to locate a Golden One branch along my route. I needed more cash than an ATM would kick out and this is why I maintain an account at Golden One so I head over to this branch dreading going in because of the crappy reviews. Well it was not so bad. I was lucky in that I walked in 2 minutes before a major rush. My wait in line was about 5 minutes and as soon as the line grew behind me an extra teller was added. The teller was friendly and helpfull. While it is not this particular branches fault I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 because the online banking still sucks... at least compared to my other CU. read more

Normally, walking into this bank is quite similar to visiting the DMV without an appointment, a long line followed by irritated employees who just want you to leave. However my last few experiences have been great! Wonderful friendly staff who are extremely informative as well as welcoming and nice. Karla, the employee who helped me out, is the ideal customer representative, however I think her title may be "Loan Officer", not quite sure. She helped me with everything I inquired of and even went above and beyond by saving me tons of money by getting me better rates on previously owned credit cards. Tricia, the clerk, very very nice and helpful!! overall a great experience. Makes me want to go in there again to pull out $40 dollars. read more

Don't go to this bank, it is nothing but problems. 1st I had to wait two months just to get my debit card, and then for some random reason my card gets frozen twice in a week, then I had to wait another two months to get my card. Now I have to wait 4 business days just to get my money out of the bank cause I cashed it in the ATM, and when I told them that my landlord wanted the money by today, she old lady just told me no, they don't even try to help you. STAY AWAY from this bank, I heard that chase will give you $100 now if you sign up with them. This Bank is terrible.. read more

Ok so yes this location is a bit slower because there's usually a line on a daily basis. But ppl don't realize this location is helping not just Madera but other towns too-Firebaugh, Mendota, Los Banos, Chowchilla, Kerman- all the surrounding ones. I've been banking here for years. The ppl that work there are friendly and try to get to know you personally. That's what I look for in a financial institution. They seem to be a little short staffed but I noticed lately there's more ppl now. There's a line but seems to go down quickly. They offer great rates on loans and credit card so I'm happy for their help. read more
