Came in for a free trial one-day session with a friend at around noon on a Saturday. I usually work out at Fitness World so it was a huge change! There weren't that many people and so many different machines, some of which I've literally never seen or heard of like the stretching ones. Definitely took the time to walk around to check each out and the best probably is the pendulum squat machine. I'm pretty impressed with the women's workout space. For one, it had some machines including a cable and benches, and only 2 cardio ones. Much better than She's Fit. The bathroom is stocked with some tampons and it's spacious. My one tiny complaint is that there seems to be some lunks that exerted more noises than necessary, especially in a communal gym. Loud enough for you to hear the grunts from across the gym. You don't even see that at Fitness World. read more

Seconding the same experience as Dana B. below. Left Canada in 2022, they said I won't be charged if I leave Canada (30km away from the facility). Lo and behold, I suddenly got chased with collection for nearly $2000? This is such a gross practice and I'm reporting this to Office of Consumer Affairs. read more

Gold's Gym West Broadway - Gyms Near Me - Vancouver, British Columbia

Like many here have said before the membership cancelation is an absolute nightmare. If your billing information is not up to date get ready for a surprise. I highly advise you never step foot in this gym. First it is way to busy. You might get a good workout after 8:30 PM or if you start before 6AM. But the big problem is the billing company ABC Fitness. Just to give you a bit of a back story, I have been paying my membership dues and my Jiu Jitsu school for over a decade. I know that a contract is a contract. However, you will get canned responses from them (ABC) and won't go anywhere as far as a solution is concerned. This is a common theme on forums and other review sites. I advise that unless you have money to throw around, do not step foot in this gym. If you do decide to train here, under no circumstances sign up for more than a year. This gym is so bad it made me get off my a$$ and build my own exercise setup at home. That's how bad ABC and Gold's are. I'm looking at legal action right now on principle alone. read more

The machines and in-gym staff are all generally fine (what you would expect from a gym) but the process to cancel is frustratingly impossible. I know a lot of gyms operate on this principle, but it's ridiculous how many hoops you have to jump through, how many emails get ignored, and how much time and money you waste with these guys. read more

SCAMMERS. I signed up in 2019, left to Russia in 2020 and my credit card expired. I emailed them asking to cancel my membership as I was in a different country and unable to use their facilities. They said I'd have to pay to cancel it. That didn't make sense to me so I decided not to update my credit card. In 2024, 4 YEARS LATER I receive calls from credit collection agency saying that I owe Golds gym a $1000. Last time we have exchanged emails was in 2021. I am a student and I dont have that much money to give out to a big corporation. This is ridiculous. read more

BEWARE! Cancelling your membership IS IMPOSSIBLE! I sent emails since Nov 3rd trying to cancel my membership (see picture attached) that I've had since 2018 (so I'm long out my contract) These are the emails I contacted: Noz (supposed to be their general manager) Cancel Info Membersupport Safana Victor (Along with other emails that I knew of/could find online that bounced back) 1st email - Nov 3 to their "Cancel" email (I was advised by their receptionist that the way to cancel is to send an email to this account) 2nd email - Nov 23 to their "Cancel" and "Safana" email (again advised by a different receptionist to email both of these accounts) 3rd email - Dec 13 to their "Cancel" and "Safana" email 4th email - Dec 23 to their "Cancel", "Safana" , "Noz", "Membersupport" email (the receptionist gave me other emails to contact this time) 5th email - Jan 4 to their "Cancel" , "Safana" , "Noz" , "Membersupport" , "Victor" email (found Victors email online as one of the owners possibly) + About 3-4 phone requests for manager call backs when I called the receptionist when they were open. NOT A SINGLE REPLY OR CALL BACK! I have wasted hours trying to send emails, trying to get a manager call back, to scour the Internet looking for names of people that I can email so someone can reply to me. Do you really want to sign up at a gym that handles cancellations like this? And no they can't use COVID as an excuse because all of emails up to email #4 and all calls I made were when they are open. My credit card was compromised in November and I never provided Golds Gym with a new credit card because I had been trying to cancel for a while by that point and they weren't entitled to member dues from me because of my efforts to cancel. What did they do? They sent me to collections because they are still billing me into January! And now if I don't pay these fees that they aren't even entitled to it's going to go on my credit bureau. RIDICULOUS! THIS IS THEFT! So now I'm going to be faced to pay these fees even though I have made ample effort to resolve this matter and cancel my account. Unfortunately I live in a different city now and was not able to come in person when they were open. My advice if you are dealing with this is to send a certified letter in mail, which I will be doing today. I'm also writing reviews everywhere online to warn everyone and also filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Failing all that, if they don't return all my gym fees that I'm being wrongfully forced to pay luckily I know how to file a claim and affidavits in Small Claims court for damages. It's a massive waste of time and expense just to protect my credit score. Golds Gym West Broadway has the worst business ethics. I moved away from Vancouver but may move back one day. I would have gone to this gym for the free parking but I would never in a million years ever sign a contact with this company ever again! *I will update this review to advise of how this matter progresses read more

Gold's Gym West Broadway - Email Thread Showing My Attempts to Cancel My Membership for the Last 2 Months - Gyms Near Me - Vancouver, British Columbia

the hours are always shorted . it started as 24 hours now , you are constantly getting early closures and it opens super late on weekends . the staff are fine , the equipment is fine but for some reason , they never seem to have enough weights . it's often a hunt to find weights read more

Management employs aggressive sales techniques that waste people's time. The pitch is not transparent, and I felt like I was being sold and upsold the entire conversation. Seems like a decent gym - a bit small - but I will not be coming back. read more

I signed up a year ago, everyone is super friendly. All the equipment is so new and clean I love it. It def gets busy around peak hours but I do shift work so I'm good. Which is another reason why I signed up cause it's 247. You also get access to all locations and classes without having to pay extra. I moved to Burnaby but still make the drive to Vancouver cause I haven't found a better gym close by. read more

Gold's Gym West Broadway - Elliptical - Gyms Near Me - Vancouver, British Columbia

I was a member at Golds gym on West Broadway. Untill I was unfairly kicked out. On Friday March 5th,2021. I attended the 10am workout time. During my visit I was approached by another member about my mask/ face shield. While I was working out my face shield slipped up over my head while I was laying down on the mat doing exercises. The strap around my head pressed against the mat and the shield went up over my head. When this happened , I safely put down my weights and put the shield back in place completely covering my face. Despite being distanced 6 meters apart from other members, one member that was doing exercises next to me 6 meters apart , came up to me, in my space and made a point to tell me that I should make sure that my mask was to be covering my face at all times. I explained that I was working out and my mask had slipped up. I had also mentioned that if they were offended that they could stay at least 3 meters away and also not to be alarmed that I am not ill and if I was I wouldn't be at the gym or even allowed in the gym. We all get asked the questions about if were well enough to attend and also get our temperature checked at the door before entering. This person did not like my reply and went to speak with Noz, the general manager. At that time Noz came over and right off the bat she told me that she has the power to revoke my membership. "Why, I said and for for what reason? I am not doing anything wrong. I am working out here down on my mat minding my own business". She said I know, I think maybe it's how you spoke to this other member. I said, how ? By telling him he can stay 3 meters apart if there's such an issue. Obviously I wouldn't be here if I was unwell. She again she said I know, just be respectful. Yes of course I replied. At the end of the workout session my boyfriend came to collect me and I told him what happened. He approached the member who told on me and asked him why he did that. The other member said that he went to an authority to deal with it. And again we both asked him why. My boyfriend said to the guy, "hey man if you are unhappy with your life, you don't have to take it out on other people". And the guy walked away. We were going to talk to Noz right after that but decided to leave it alone. Then all of a sudden Noz emailed myself and my boyfriend at 2:30 the same day saying that our memberships are being revoked. She never even gave me or my boyfriend a chance to explain or defend ourselves or have a mediation between us and the other member. I feel it is very unfair and a violation of my human rights and also I didn't violate any gym regulations or disrespect anybody or even have had any problems before this. I've emailed 4 different people in authority at gold's and no reply at all. I feel very disrespected! I have always been a good respectful member and it's clear that Golds gym doesn't care about their members. Just their money. Watch out!! read more

In 2016 Gold's Gym new location in Port Coquitlam was opening. My friend and I went to check it out. We asked if they would have tanning beds and the "liar" told us, "yes." So, we signed up 2016 09 14! Are there tanning beds yet? I sent an e-mail on Sept 17th 2018 and advised them not to renew my membership. I received an email that my membership has been canceled. On Dec. 07th 2020 I received a letter from a collection company stating I owed $296.40 (no other emails or letters or phone calls in 2 years) I immediately contacted Gold's Gym and the lady I spoke with said I had an outstanding balance of $150.00. WHAT? I then contacted the collection company and they put a ticket of stay on the account and advised me to NOT contact the gym again. It was close to Christmas and COVID and no one returned my constant calling. I was monitoring my credit and there it was. I contacted TransUnion, Equifax, Experian, Better Business Bureau and Consumer Protection. Due to COVID I was getting nowhere. I refused to pay it to the collection company so there it sits. On Monday 2023 10 11 at 9:43 pm I get an email that from Gold's Gym that I owe $296.40 and to respond within 24 hours or it will go to collections. WHAT? I called the gym (number provided by them 778-285-4653). What a joke! The girl I spoke with told me they do not have access to the billing departments phone number and we cannot provide you with a phone number to contact anyone. You can send an email. I was ANGRY!!! I sent 2 emails and wouldn't you know it.....no response. Now I am fueled with spite, anger and determination to have this company investigated for FRAUD! This time I will NOT give up. Picture attached, my credit account and emails. I believe every complaint against this company. 8 YEARS!!!! OUTRAGEOUS!!!! read more

The big upside to the gym is that everything is new, which is nice. 24 hours, which comes in handy if you work shifts. 3 squat racks, 2 DL platforms. There's an area set up with a sled/prowler. Most of the machines are plate loaded, and they have a hip thrust machine, which is nice. Other than that, nothing particularly interesting about the machines that you won't find at another gym. If you want to do barbell hip thrusts, however, the only place you can set them up is at the opposite side of the gym from all the plates, which means hauling them from one side of the gym to the other. Childminding: The hours work for me, kid seems to come out with the same number of appendages he went in with. Women's Only Section: No squat rack, no bench, no barbell. There are two regular benches (but not enough space if two people are using them at a time), a smith and a cable stack. It feels that, rather than someone saying "ok, we'll have a separate workout area so women can avoid creepers and still go about their regular exercise routine", they had some guys go, "oh, crap, we need a special lady area for special lady exercises - they seem to like that thigh spreader machine so I guess we'll put in one of those and a stair master." I haven't been there during heavy traffic periods, but I suspect it's grim given how close together everything is. The biggest downside is they don't have regular foam rollers. Instead they bought thick blue pool noodles, which squish down. So if you roll out before heavy days, you'll need to bring your own roller. There are a couple of personal trainers floating around, but I haven't really seen them with clients so no opinion on them. There is a separate area set aside for personal training, which seems nice, but you aren't allowed in it, even if it's empty (which it seems to be when I'm there.) That's a bit annoying. Change rooms are functional, generally clean. read more

Found the place weird the first visit. Need to take a pic to receive a tour. Then I'm told they had a burglary. The place has the newest internet cardio equipment around and body building equipment. The change room is clean. Sauna sits one person and he or she looks like a sardine. Just found the place a little pricey. Can get a similar workout at fitforless for less than 20.00 per month. Also internet wasnt stable and hard to connect on their internet cardio equipment. read more

One of the best gyms on the West Coast and Vancouver! Close to my condo downtown! I can go anywhere in the World and use the travel pass and most of the fitness models who come to the city for periods of time will come use this facility. Almost 2 hours free parking provided. Free passes for my friends and family and colleagues to try out. Staff is super nice and easy to get along with! They know all the good spots in town, social and fitness. Prices are fairly reasonable. Policy/protocol with Covid is consistent and overall, a clean gym. I cannot find dust anywhere. Mirrors are sparkling clean for those gym selfies! One of the cleanest green turf areas I have ever seen in a gym. Way to uphold the brand Gold's Gym! Never been a member of any other gym. Started off at the Mecca in L.A and now Gold's Gym British Columbia! read more

Easily the worst poorly managed gym in Vancouver. Yes, the equipment is good, but that won't matter when you need to deal with administration stuff. Near useless staff members who don't have competency to solve your problems will keep bouncing you between different employees and not solve your problems for weeks. This is definitely not the well-known Gold's gym brand you see in the US. read more

Similar to Rosalind, it seems like threatening about revoking memberships or simply revoking them are a trend here. I am still waiting on one of the managers reply to me... BUT a few days ago a staff member insulted my work ethic and The way I go about working out , then it seems few days later the main context of this story was changed and I was told I disrespected authority when that was not what happened At all. Again like I said I'm willing to change my review just awaiting a response , but I do agree that you never really know when you are going to get your membership revoked here as it seems this is common.. and that treating members poorly depending on who the staff is I should note , is also quite common. so I'd just be weary. Again, I am willing to change my review I just am not sure how to go about this. I really hope I can change this .. read more

I was really looking forward to working out at this gym. It's clean, great equipment and the General Manager did a great job in signing me up. It's understandable that they need to use a booking system to work out there to be safe but you need book 72 hours in advance and you need to be on the computer constantly refreshed the booking system to quickly book the time slot you want.
