These people are predators, beware! His first question....."Is this your first time selling gold?" "Oh, the process is easy just give me your driver's license." They hide their scale so you cannot see what their weights are (know your weight going in). I knew my weight going in and exactly how many grams of gold that I had. I knew the exactly what karat gold that I had. He used his jeweler's loop and also conducted the acid test on the gold. He also knew too! Then they will only make you a low ball offer that is insulting and only seeking to skin you. When I questioned him on his calculations he said it was 8 grams and he calculated it at 10K gold. My real weight was 12 grams and 18K gold (Can you see the scammers that they are?) If they were honest, they would openly weigh your merchandise give you the weight, and the Karat to explain the calculations (if they were honest), but they are not. The door is locked even during business hours. Call to get in. They will evaluate the worth of your gold in bulk, not individually, unless asked. They will price small diamonds the same as gold. They will only pay you in cash, they do not wire your money because they want to avoid their fee. They will do magnetic & acid? droplet tests of your jewelry to determine the k. They will originally do a gentler friction-scraping test, to tell you what you have- then they do a harsh abrasive test where they will actually hard file your jewelry & then do acidic? Testing once again this time on it not of it, & that's when they'll determine whether they'll purchase or not- which would be fine except if you're novice to this- let me warn you, because I certainly wasn't- it will ruin your jewelry- even if it's pure gold, but especially if it turns out to be just plated- the hard file scrapping leaves noticeable damage, & if it turns out to be plated but wasn't caught on the first test by then this second acidic? test will leave a horrible tarnish damage on your piece, they do not bother to make the testing site small nor inconspicuous- so should you decide not to sell it, or should they decide not to purchase it, your jewelry will be visibly significantly ruined, whether it's pure gold because of the hard filing or whether it's because of tarnishing if it plated. Wasn't trying to defraud them, on the first test my piece was determined to be gold, so I went ahead with trying to sell it & their second test ruined it my piece. I understand their need to verify, but they should really warn about the procedure & should also try to do it in a manner which will result in minimal visible damage. I would recommend selling at a pawn shop instead. They offer similar if not lesser prices. read more
