Update: I called Arthur this AM based on the glowing reviews here. He says he's moved on from the business and not taking new jobs right now. Appreciate that he picked up and told me, rather than leaving me hanging! read more

Art is a great handyman. He is very quick to respond and quick to get the work done. His quality of work is great. Getting to know him personally as he helped me with a few projects, I realized he has done a ton of work on his own home and he made me feel the work he did in my home would be the same level of work he'd do in his own. That is exactly what I look for in someone working on my house. As a real estate agent with buyers and sellers always looking for a handyman, I never hesitate to refer him. He is reliable, professional and I could not be happier to have found him. read more

Arthur came by my apartment in the South End to mount a TV to the wall in my bedroom, hang some light sconces, and install some closet lights. It was entirely refreshing to work with someone who was on time. Arthur has an excellent work ethic and an amazing eye for detail. While installing my TV mount, he noticed a large hole in the wall left by previous tenants and he quickly patched it up without a word. While hanging the light sconces, he noticed that a picture frame I had on the same wall was not level and he corrected it. His craftsmanship is flawless. He finished in exactly 2 hours and I was very impressed by all that he got done for me in this short time. I am all ready thinking about other projects I can have him come back and do. I would not hesitate to recommend him or his work. read more

I hired Arthur to do a lot of work for me over a number of weekends recently in Medford and in Woburn.  I keep going back to him because he does such a great job! He helped me prepare a rental property for tenants to move in.  He installed an over-the-stove microwave, removed and boxed a large stair lift machine, fixed outlets, replaced hard-to-reach light bulbs, repaired a stuck closet door, did touch-up painting... you name it. His rates are very reasonable.  As he worked, I kept finding more and more tasks for him to do.  A lot of the stuff I can do myself, but Arthur has the tools and equipment to do it faster.  Arthur is a godsend for my honey-do list! He also helped me put together a 3-person sauna.  It was an all-day job, and it took a few hours just to unbox everything.  When we realized that one of the walls had a manufacturing defect, I was worried I'd have to wait for a replacement part from California.  Arthur saved the day!  He found a way to fix it so that everything went together and I could enjoy the new sauna that same evening. Arthur is great for jobs big and small.  He is easy to get ahold of, knowledgeable, well prepared, and diligent.  He is my go-to handyman for my house and the rental property. Just today he built me an extra wooden shelf top to go in my living room. He built it at his workshop and delivered it this afternoon. He was even able to match the paint color with the three other shelves that were already there! read more

Gold Home Help - 3-Person sauna Arthur helped me assemble, a big project well done! - Handyman Near Me

Highly, highly, highly recommend Arthur. Can't say enough about how knowledgeable and professional he was. But I'll try for both of these areas. **Knowledge: I needed a handyman with creative problem solving skills as well as basic plumbing and electrical. Hard to find that combo. Many handyman said I would have to hire three people. Hired Arthur last week to remodel two bathrooms and help with other general issues before new tenants moved into my Cambridge condo. He first helped my father and I remove toilets, vanities, cabinets, and lights from the bathrooms. He was great at working alongside my father and I and teaching us as he went, since we could do basic removal of items. We bought new items for the bathroom and he installed them quickly, giving us options for installation as he went along. He hooked up the plumbing and even made adjustments quickly when it conflicted with my new cabinets. He hooked up new lighting and moved the outlet to a new location. He helped me fit a flat lighting kit into a tough corner space by bringing his own piece of stained wood and cutting it to fit, and moved the outlet box, perfectly. I also had him install a track lighting kit, fix my kitchen sink, apply caulking to the shower, and look at my fan. He knows his stuff. He even would swing by Home Depot on the way to my condo and pick extra things up to help the job. He also had a full set of tools and allowed my father and I to use them so we could all be working at the same time. **Professional: It's very hard to find both a skilled and professional/communicative handyman. I had read that Arthur used to be a financial analyst so I knew he would be organized and responsive, and indeed he was. He emailed and called and texted with updates - very helpful. He even came back a few days later when I needed help, and didn't charge me for the full amount. Very trustworthy. I'll be using him again! read more

Arthur was great! He was flexible with his time and went above and beyond on the work that I needed. I will be hiring him again

Arthur did a great job helping us with projects of various sizes in our home from patching a ceiling hole to refinishing our living room which was demo'd down to the studs. He knowledgeable and communicates very well. Probably the best parts of our experieces was that he always took his time to do the project right the first time. We never felt like he was rushing and it showed in the quality of the finished product. read more

While moving patio furniture I broke the single pane glass window of the exterior door in my apartment. I had a lot of trouble finding someone to take on a small job last minute. I came across Arthur's profile on yelp, crossed my fingers and hoped he could help. I got an email back very quickly and a follow up call to set up a day for him come by. He kept in contact with me via email and sent a text letting me know he was going to be arriving shorty. Overall this was an excellent experience. Arthur was very nice and professional. My house of 5 girls felt very safe letting him into our home and would absolutely call him again for anything that needs to be fixed around our old New England apartment! read more

Arthur is one of the most professional handymen that I have had so far. I hired him for two jobs - he responded to my texts quickly, came over the same day to check out the jobs, completed the jobs on the agreed dates/time and even returned once to do some additional work without charging me to meet my needs, sent invoices the same day and accepted electronic payment. When I had questions about the jobs, he was available to speak on phone, discuss and explain. Arthur came across as a person whom I can rely on and call upon for all my future jobs. He was a pleasure to work with - thank you for being so good. One thing to keep in mind is that he may not be accurate in his initial estimate of how long the job may take - so, be open to the job taking longer to get a good output. Looking forward to hiring Arthur for future projects (though the wishful thinking is that I do not need any repairs in future :) ). read more

I am late with this but no matter, Art was conscientious and did a great job installing some doors. Not only did he install the doors but came up with a great idea for a door for a storage area. read more

I had to have my door fixed after the jam and molding were ruined. I read the reviews of Arthur and reached out. He was super responsive and up front and honest about all the costs. He came when he said he would and did the job perfectly. He was in contact with me throughout the process while I was at work. I would recommend him to everyone and will plan to use him again for jobs that I have come up. Thanks Arthur! read more

Arthur was here an hour after my request and able to fix my dresser in another hour. Very nice and informative. Would highly recommend! Pleasant experience read more

Arthur was unable to keep his appointment with me and offered to do part of the work for free in return for my inconvenience, but I decided against that. He is a very nice person, obviously competent based on other reviews, but I am a one and done kind of person. read more

Arthur is AMAZING! I contacted him to remove a vanity, large mirror, and lighting fixture in my bathroom and to install new pieces. He was responsive and very thorough, asking for specific pictures of things to know what the work would entail. The work took a total of a day and a half, and the end result is fantastic. Everything was installed meticulously and Arthur even disposed of the old fixtures for no additional charge. He was constantly in communication with me throughout the process, and was very upfront about any additional work that needed to be done (such as filling the massive hole that was discovered behind the mirror). Arthur's best attributes are definitely his honesty and his willingness to help. I never once questioned any of the things he recommended doing, and his pricing was great. He definitely undercharged us (which we told him!) but having a handyman as great as he is is almost priceless. I've had bad experiences getting work done before, and I am so thrilled to have found Arthur. My mom was also in town while Arthur was here, and several times he heard us talking about removing something or another job we were working on. He was quick to help out wherever he could and so incredibly helpful. If you are looking for a handyman, I HIGHLY recommend Arthur! read more

Arthur does what he says he is going to do when he says he will do it. He is a breath of fresh air in this industry! He did such a quality job on our projects. I look forward to the next time I get to work with him. In addition to great work, he has wonderful communication skills. read more

Arthur is a fantastic resource for jobs big and small. Following a move, he's helped me relocate heavy furniture and an appliance, repaired a damaged cabinet and fixed a broken sliding door, among other tasks. He's currently relocating an electric baseboard heater and replacing dry way and floor boards where the unit was previously. I'm extremely happy with all of Arthur's work. He's very responsive to cost estimate and scheduling requests. His rates are very competitive and he's open and upfront about how long a job will take and what the total cost will be. Highly recommended. read more

I hired Arthur to fix a door frame in my apartment that was damaged and completely off of the walls due to the door being kicked in (ugh!). I sent him a few pictures and described what the damage was and he came prepared with all of the materials and tools he needed on the day of the repair. It was (in my opinion) not an easy repair and he was able to complete it in just a few hours, he even took a look at my kitchen cabinet that had come off of the hinge, and was sort of hanging there, and did a quick fix for no extra charge that is still holding up after several months (no thanks to my landlord!). He did a great job and the price he charged was very reasonable for the job. He was very courteous and friendly, as well as respectful of my things and cleaned up when he was finished. I would definitely recommend him to anyone! read more

Handy Man is my go to for all projects around my home. He is handy (obviously), dependable, reasonable, conscientious and hard working. I have had him paint, install, and do small electrical projects at my 120 year old home. He is honest and I always appreciate his advice on any potential projects, small or large. I would not hesitate to recommend Handy Man for anything and everything. He will get back to you quickly with a fair quote and always follow through as promised. read more

I wish I had hired Arthur sooner and for other projects. He hung pendant lights in my kitchen. Of course I order from Amazon and they weren't exactly perfect, but he made them work and they look fantastic! He also hung some large mirrors for me. After they were hung I wanted them moved and he changed the brackets on mirror instead of another hole in wall. Genius. great pricing too! read more

Late on a Saturday afternoon, I had pretty much given up on finding someone to replace a panel of glass on my door, when Art answered his phone (all other places i called went to voicemail) and quickly came to the rescue. He replaced the glass, did a stellar job, and my dog Olive loved him. read more

I'm a long time homeowner and have worked with 4-5 handymen in various locations over the years. I agree entirely with other reviewers in their praise for Arthur and his work. His work at out house ranged from routine handyman work to helping me develop the specs for a major bathroom renovation. His work was excellent across the entire range. And he was indeed prompt, courteous and easy to work with. Add me to the list of those who will definitely call him again. read more

Arthur is very competent, he communicates clearly, and he works fast. If you are looking for high quality work, he's your guy. I'm very happy with the work he's done at my place and I would absolutely call him again for repairs in the future. read more

I first contacted Arthur about a week ago regarding smaller jobs that needed to be done in my apartment. Although Arthur has been responsive to emails, after selecting a day to have him come by and working to confirm this day, the morning of I received a response letting me know that he totally forgot about coming by and would not be able to make it. With only one of our roommates sparingly home during the workday, Arthur having to cancel because he forgot was inexcusable and I have instead chosen to go with another handyman. read more

Handy Guy is the way to go. Arthur know's his stuff, is reliable, professional, and a great value. Hired Handy Guy to repaint prime and paint bedroom walls and ceilings. Arthur took the time to scope the project accurately, recommended best practice for painting a texture ceiling, arrived on time, and finished on schedule / on budget. Would definitely hire again for future painting jobs or other jobs. If you are looking for a guy who knows how to treat customers right and does great work - Arthur the Handy Guy will not disappoint! read more

Hired Arthur to do several small projects in the house - fix a cabinet, do paint touch-ups etc. Arthur got the necessary supplies from a nearby hardware store and did a very professional job on all the projects. He is honest and his rates are very reasonable. I would definitely recommend him! read more

Arthur did an excellent job boxing in an unsightly cable, and then plastering/dry-walling and painting the box such that it looked like the original chase that was already there. This was a job that we were trying to have done for months to no avail, and Arthur stepped up for us. He also installed a ceiling fan. Very skilled handyman; professional and courteous. read more

Came by early on a Saturday and then never bothered to get back to me after numerous attempts.

Can't recommend Arthur enough! He gave an accurate quote, was on-time, and did an excellent job helping us do some finishing work on a backsplash and fixing a rickety stair rail. He was great at communicating when issue arose (as they inevitably do with any home repair project) and clearly knows his stuff. Will definitely use his help again! read more

Arthur is great. Super nice, realistic, stays late if you need him to, efficient and effective, responsive and just an overall good guy. He's done a ton of hanging heavy objects, fixing holes in my ceiling and walls. I completely disagree with the review about Arthur taking advantage of naive people - I've experienced the opposite, where he's taught me how to do simple things (which I had just never done before) so I didn't need to have him come back, which I was impressed with. Highly recommend Arthur! read more

Arthur, the owner of Handy Guy, is an easy person to work with. He returned my email quickly and answered my questions clearly. He arrived on time and the quality of his work was superior to similar services I have worked with in the past. When my wife and I had questions about future work his answers were helpful. I would recommend him to others without hesitation. read more

Our experience with Arthur was everything you would hope for. I called him with only a week's notice, and he gladly agreed to the exact day and time we needed him. He confirmed the day before, arrived on time and had a fantastic attitude. He was also incredibly handy! He did all of the odd jobs around the house to perfection. I would absolutely recommend Arthur to all of my friends and will be sure to call him for my next move! read more

Arthur is great! We have had him come several times for different jobs - replacing outlets, fixing an installed baby gate, putting up a curtain rod, and hanging blinds in our entire downstairs. He is prompt, responsive, and super pleasant to have around. He is now our go to handyman. Will definitely use him again! read more

I asked Arthur to replace an interior door in the most cost efficient way possible. The wood in the frame is old and somewhat warped which made it a real challenge to get the new door to fit properly. He was patient and reassured me throughout the process that he would be able to get the new door in (which he did!). He is polite, and I felt he was very fair about price/effort/product. read more

Very highly recommended. Arthur has installed our window a/c units and helped us with old storm windows. He is very pleasant and responsive and even helped us fix a problem over the phone. He is always willing to take a look at whatever additional problems we have on hand. read more

Arthur is a life saver! He's been to our house twice in the past two months and we are left in awe of his speed, professionalism and expertise. His prices are reasonable and his workmanship top notch. A definite "must hire" if you need anything done around your house. read more

Arthur did an excellent job for us installing several window well covers on a brick house. Incidentally, the fact that the job involved a brick house meant that it was a less than straight forward project because brick requires special care so that it doesn't crumble, etc. Moreover, brick requires a powerful drill and special screws/anchors. That said, Arthur came fully prepared with several types of drills, screws, anchors, and other tools/supplies, and did a really great job on short notice. In short, I found Arthur to be responsive, courteous, professional, knowledgeable, and skilled. Also, his rates were very reasonable. Will definitely reach out to Arthur again for other similar home improvement projects. read more

He did an OK job, but the fact that he requires a 2 hour minimum at $55/hr is a little expensive and over priced especially since he is not a skilled tradesman, I feel he kind of takes advantage of naive clients who are willing to spend top dollar for mediocre service. He did a job for me last summer and it now needs to be redone, we trusted many reviews from this site and unfortunately they did not live up to our expectation. I don't mind paying top dollar for good work, but for it to meh, I would not use/recommend this service again. read more

Handy Guy is courteous, professional and knowledgable. I called Arthur to replace an old garbage disposal. He came before the job to look at my existing disposal and assured me there would be no issues. He even showed me the disposal that he recommended so I could pre approve the disposal and price. The install was efficient and the pricing fair. Next time I have another household job I will call Arthur without hesitation. read more

Arthur was great to work with; very skilled, smart, got the job done and put up with my extremely annoying tenants. While he was working (and my building was in the process of being shut down by the Arlington Fire Department), Arthur was professional and funny and efficient. I would gladly recommend him and use him for any other repairs. A real find! read more
