Out of loyalty went into the Harvey Norman Maribyrnong store to buy some smaller electronics ($300 worth) knowing they would price match against competitors such as Officeworks under their advertised price guarantee and was meet with a barrage of excuses and reasons from different staff members not to honour it. Then asked to speak to manager and waited 15 minutes to be aggressively approached by him and later threatened in a persecuting manner that as we had already opened the box to inspect the goods we were buying, (Logitech keyboard) we had therefore already bought it at the full price" when we refused and decided to leave without a purchase. He threatened to get security using further further verbal and physically intimidating tactics to purchase the items. As we began to leave he "escorted us out" like we criminals. Our upcoming intent to purchase a full Sonos home theatre system and sound bar and HP spectre laptop (about $6000-$7000 worth ) will be going elsewhere

They had a great range of pine and hardwood furniture. They were very helpful in getting what I wanted. The only problem I had was it took about 6 weeks to make as it was a specific size I needed, the salesman did explain that but I hoped it would of been quicker. Well worth walking in and asking them what you want.

Wheel & Barrow in Doncaster Westfield is a more upmarket then Matchbox with its high quality range of home ware and appliances. You will be drawn into the store by the sparkling glassware on display, think martini glasses, vases and decorations. Yet inside you will find so much more. Bar ware, bake ware, books and cutlery. And that is just to start with. Anything you need to create and serve food with both indoor and outdoors is available here. Wheel & Barrow is out of my price range usually, however it represents good value and when I'm a 'real' grown up with a full time job I may be tempted to shop here. You will need a wheel barrow to cart your goodies home if you visit during sale time!

On Sunday morning, while my hankering is normally for a Bloody Mary and some granola, I instead craved fresh plants. It had been a long time since I visited Northroy Nursery and was pleasantly surprised by what I found. From the exterior it appears to be your basic nursery, primarily selling pots and soil however when you walk in you will find quirky cacti, hanging plants and succulents as far as the eye can see. But what is best about Northroy Nursery is their indoor plant section. I was very surprised to see an abundance of fiddle leaf figs (if you're not in the know, these are a very cool plant right about now), which are often very difficult to find in Melbourne. While these were quite small, they were retailing for an eye-boggling 20 clams! I had never seen them so cheap before! They also stocked a LOT of fruit salad plants, hanging plants and also moss for if/when you attempt a terrarium. If you're in the market for some good indoor plants, definitely stop boy Northroy.

This is my local hardware store, and for one or two items, I will come here before going to one of the big box places. With a history as a sawmill (the last operating hardwood mill in the metropolitan area according to them), this show stocks a selection of lumber that honours it's pedigree. If they don't have it in stock, they will order it in. But they probably have it. It can be a little difficult to get a specific make or model of some products as the range is not as great as with mega box shop, but these guys have everything you need.
