I have no sewing experience at all so I was looking for a quilt that was already made. The quilt I was interested in only had a sample on display and was not for sale. The shop was only selling the kit. However, when I asked the owner if I could purchase the sample, she said YES!! I was ecstatic!!! My husband spotted an "Old Guys Rule" (his favorite t-shirt sentiment) quilt hanging on display and located the kit. I had never purchased a quilt kit, but he talked me into it. Fast forward to August this year. Due to shelter-in-place orders, I completed enough of my UFOs to start a new project. My husband has been anxious for "Old Guys Rule" to put it in the RV. Unfortunately, when I started cutting for it, I discovered that I was short 2 fabrics. (just needed inches more). I contacted the shop and owner, Susie, responded the next day. They no longer had either fabric in stock, but she did an exhaustive search of the neighboring quilt shops and found one of the fabrics I need. As it turns out she was not able to locate fabric to match my background, so she replaced the whole background fabric for me! I highly recommend this shop, not only do they have beautiful fabric and quilts, but great customer service.

I know EVERYTHING is more expensive, but it looks like they raised their prices on everything including fabric they've had before tariffs and a bad economy kicked in. $14+ for a yard of regular price quilt cotton is really high even for a local quilt shop. I left with nothing and won't be back. Stores wonder why people shop Hobby Lobby and online. This is why. Less expensive even with the cost of shipping.

We found Caroline's at the one stop shop hop a few years ago and have been wanting to visit her store. We were not disappointed. I do not think I could say one bad, negative thing. Everyone was so friendly. So helpful. My friend was picking fabrics for a small wall hanging. This is her first foray into civil war, reproduction fabrics. Caroline was so enthusiastic, it was inspiring to watch. She explained what she was thinking and looking for in her color choices. I bought three kits. I never, ever buy kits. The fun is choosing fabrics, right? But her color sense is beyond belief. I can't wait to get home and start sewing ! I can't wait to go back. Please visit. A lot of their little Bernina items are behind the counter and the employee was perplexed that I needed bobbins for my 535. She spoke to me like I did not know what machine I had and that I didn't actually need the specified jumbo bobbins my machine requires. Thankfully this is not my local Bernina dealer and I will be skipping this stop on my next trip to Shipshewana.
