Was looking for a breakfast place that opens early and found this place. They have good ambiance. We dined in the second floor (outdoor) and we loved it! We ordered avocado toast and iced mocha. Food is good, and they have good pastries too! I just didn't like my iced mocha much because the chocolate they used isn't melted. They were even hard chocolate that was tried to crush in smaller pieces kind of. The ladies were helpful and friendly. We were on a walking tour of Bergen, and our tour guide told us we would be missing out if we didn't try the cinnamon bun there! We stopped in and they were in the process of pulling fresh ones out of the oven - that was a great treat! My husband got a hot chocolate that he really liked and I enjoyed every bite of the cinnamon bun - not overly sweet, but warm and soft. Service was great, and the price was fairly decent. read more

I've come to this spot a few times, as it's a good bakery. Have come to have a pastry while having a chat, came here another time to get some work done. Fast wifi, quite clean, lots of places to sit. Busy too. Come early if you want a wide range of pastries to pick from, otherwise they run out. Have tried their cinnamon roll and another sweet pastry with raisins in it. Cinnamon roll was tasty, not too strong of a cinnamon taste; the raisins one was too sweet for me. Bread quality is good though, very soft and fresh. Expensive though at about 53 NOK for eating in (it's about 5 NOK cheaper if taking away). read more

This is a great place to get a good cup of coffee or espresso. They also have wonderful bakery items. I especially recommend the cinnamon roll. Different than American style which often have too much frosting, these cinnamon rolls are sweeten with sugar so the flavor of the baked goods is not overwhelmed by frosting. They also make sandwiches if you need something more substantial than coffee and sugar. Pro tip: you can order an open face sandwich which puts all of the toppings on one piece of bread. Nice option if you don't want to fill up on bread. This place is located right next to the entry for the tram which takes you uphill to the lookout with great views of Bergen. Convenient location + good bread + good bakery = four stars. read more

This location of godt brod was super hopping when we visited! It was so packed, it took a long time to order. They have many fresh baked pastries, so if you're nearby, stop and give one a try. We stopped in here for a cup of coffee and tried a few of their pastries. Everything we tasted was so good! There are a few seats inside but if the weather is good, there are a lot of seats outside and the view of the harbor is very nice. The perfect place to drink hot tea and enjoy a perfectly made skillingsboller. After a long, rainy walk all around town, visiting the fish market, and wandering Bryggen, I stopped here for a rest and some refreshments. It hit the spot! It's a fairly small, cozy shop and I was able to take a seat at the window counter and people watch a bit. We were running on empty after a long morning of travel and needed some carb action for lunch and fortunately stumbled upon Godt Brød. Godt Brød has sandwiches that are all made-to-order with the freshest ingredients. They have a variety of breads for your sandwich base and lots of meats, spreads, cheeses, and veggies to build your ultimate sandwich. We went with foccacia and topped it with local ham, avocado, manchego, basil pesto, red onion, and red pepper spread. We also got a bowl of pumpkin soup (yummy and comforting) with of course, more bread for dipping (the roll with nuts, seeds, and raisin was a perfect complement to the soup). There's seating in the main café area and both interior and exterior tables upstairs. Overall, this was a perfect lunch spot. Now I only wish we had this in the US! read more

Came here with a friend for a quick snack before going to the movies and we each got ourselves a baguette. It's basically make your own: so you pick your bread, meat, cheese, spread and veggies; it was pretty delish and all ingredients legit. This is one of my favourite places to stop for breakfast or lunch on the go. There is a bakery where you can buy bread, rolls etc. to take home, but the best part is having your own sandwich made. They do have some ready made, but skip those. There are several different healthy bread options to choose from (and a few not super healthy like focaccia), several meats and cheeses, dressings and lots of fresh veggies. These go for around 70-80kr depending on the bread. They also have delicious bottles juice and of course they make any type of coffee you would like. They have seating on ground leven and on a 2nd level, but know that it gets super crowded around lunchtime. They also have outside seating in the summer. read more

This is basically a bakery specializing in making sandwiches. You can make your own kind of sandwich by ordering it from one the lovely ladies behind the counter. Almost everything is organic, which is a huge plus. There's seating on two floors + an outdoor terrace on the second floor. Do try their brownies or the almond bun - its delicious! read more
