Curiosity got the better of me, I flipped a U-ee and pulled over for this little shop I had passed several times on East Jefferson. I don't know what I was expecting, maybe vintage/random/etc....What I got was handmade/random/lots of local art and a VERY enthusiastic business owner.
I give this place four stars for its commitment to Detroit, art, and general sentiment of neighborly love. The owner describes her shop as a 'work in progress', which it is, she is still remodeling. But here of some of the goods and services she offers:
religious photography, handmade/crochet items (including a pair of boots!), handmade jewelry (she teaches young Detroit women to make the jewelry and then sells it for them), African art and clothing, massage oils, incense, and a wealth of knowledge about the Rivertown Development and its neighboring businesses. It's definitely worth it if you like to explore and enjoy conversation with energetic spirits like this owner. I never got her name, though! That's homework for you other yelpers :) read more
