i have taken my dog to Gochenhauer's for boarding for 13 years. I boarded her a few months ago, dropping her off at approximately 3 pm and picked her up at approximately 1 pm the next day. I was charged for two whole days. I then scheduled her for the 4th of July weekend about a month ahead of time. In the interim, my dog developed a medical condition that required two medications per day and a request to check her late at night. It was submitted the week of the 4th. On July 2, "Sam" calls me and informs me they are cancelling her boarding. At the end of the conversation, "Sam" told me they don't want her back anyway. When I asked why, because she had always come home with good report cards, "Sam" told me she has anxiety issues. Needless to say, this created enormous problems. I wouldn't leave anything there that has a pulse. read more

Very bare bones, but the staff is nice. Unfortunately the communication when you pick up your dog varies. We have 3 dogs. Some would come home with little behavior reports about their stay, and some did not. This happened multiple times. And the last time we picked up our dogs, one had lost weight. They never told us she wasn't eating. That can happen when you leave pets for any period of time, but it would have been nice if they mentioned it. Also, they tended to be very exhausted and stressed when we picked them up. We noticed the difference when we started bringing them elsewhere. Bottom line is your pets will most likely be safe here, but don't expect special treatment unless you pay extra. read more

Had my dog in for nail trim and they were very nice and accommodating. My dog seemed very happy when he was all done. We will be returning.

DO NOT GO HERE trust me you will be saving yourself a headache!!!! manager/front desk associates are absolutely rude. Poor groomers do good work only to be treated as replaceable. read more

While I was in the Lititz area for 5 weeks, I had to find a doggy daycare for my senior pup who had never been in daycare . The staff at Gochenauer were so helpful and accomodating. They were just great with her! They cared so well for her and went above and beyond to help us, since we were from out of town. I am so grateful to have found them! read more

I have had my dog there twice. They are very clean, and professional looking. My dog was not ill, but seemed very unhappy when we returned both times. The staff all seem nice though. Their add on services, many of which com standard at other kennels, are overpriced. You literally need to pay for your dog to have any human contact. You could get better service out of a high quality professional pet sitter for what they ask for these add on. Heck, what they charge for a simple walk is more than what you would pay for someone to come to your house and walk your dog. Also the weird stalkerish way they handle bad reviews is creepy. They always make a point of letting you know they looked up your dog in their records so they can deny what you said or they say they could not find records of your dog staying with them and want you to get in touch with them to sort things out. It all sort of feels more like gaslighting then customer service. read more

I've been fortunate to have had my older dog, Callie , stay frequently at Gochenauer's beautiful facilities over the past 2+ years, and to routinely utilize their exceptional grooming services. It is never easy to drop your pet off for boarding. That said, the warm welcome Callie always received and the caring nature of the staff always gave me comfort. It seemed like I was dropping her at her second home. Sadly, Callie's age finally caught up with her and I lost my sweet girl last month. I was initially surprised at the outpouring of condolences and wishes I received from her friends at Gochenauer's but then I realized they were only showing the genuine caring nature I had come to expect. To all Callies friends at Gochenauer's.....Thank you for all you did for our spirited girl and the thoughtful gestures you sent me on her passing. I'll never forget both. read more

I couldn't leave my dog there after I saw the small area he would be locked in. When I asked to see the full area behind the dog run, I was treated like it was an imposition. I took my husky who is very active and needs attention and more space than they offer. They were also not very nice. If you love your pet I would not recommend this place. read more

Had taken both my dogs there multiple times. One of my dogs is very difficult for new people and shy and they seemed to handle him well, which is why I will bump them a star. However, I recently picked up my dogs on a Sunday. Not only do their Sunday pickup times absolutely suck, but literally within seconds of brining my dogs outside they each went to the bathroom for what felt like minutes. Each of them are housetrained, so my assumption is that they were probably only let out once all day up until 4pm. If it was just the shy dog that went to the bathroom so much I wouldnt feel this way, but that since even my older and very very social dog peed so long, I feel like they werent taken out enough. There probably isnt a lot of staff on Sundays, so that will probably be their excuse. But how do you really know how much they are being taken out? Also did I mention the Sunday pickup times are awful. I will now take my dogs to canine country club. You at least pick up dogs up at 2pm there. read more

Our favorite dog groomer, Amanda started working here. She is great and makes it easy for my fidgety pooch, who doesn't like her feet touched. I was very impressed with the environment. It is clean, professional and reasonably priced. If I ever need doggy day care or boarding, I will be sure to choose Gocheneaur's. read more

A year ago when I picked my dog up, he had an eye infection with significant drainage that they didn't bother cleaning up. I decided to try Canine Country Club (awesome kennel) and loved it. Recently I gave Gochenauer Kennels one more try, only because it was much closer. Bad experience again. Poor customer service. They stick to their "pick up by 11am" policy, so even if your dog is there for less than 24 hours, and you've been a loyal customer for 5 years, if you are a few minutes after 11, you will be charged for two full days. I had 12 noon in my memory as the cut off, but that's the time they stop pick ups. The cut off time for paying for another day is 11. Their rational... "there are signs everywhere with our policy", and "we can't make exceptions. Our computer automatically charges the extra day after 11. We can't override that. " read more

Terrible experience. Just picked our dog up today to what looks like an infected left eye. All they said was he was having discharge over the 6 days he was there. Would have been nice to get a phone call informing us or having a vet see him while we were away. Completely disgusted with the care of my dog there. read more

Best place to take your pet hands down. The place is very clean, very friendly and attentive staff, and our dog has an absolute blast. He comes home sleepy from playing so hard, and whimpers the whole way to doggy camp because he can't wait to get there. We've done our research and wouldn't take our pet anywhere else. read more

This was an absolute awful experience. As a frequent Traveler, I need to kennel my dog often. My normal kennel was closed so i found Gochenauer Kennels on the web. First, you should know that unless you pay extra your dog will receive no human attention, they are just placed in a kennel. I got off the train in Lancaster and headed to pick up my dog, when i realized i was going to be late, they close at 6pm, i called to make a reasonable request that they stay a few extra minutes for me.... first call, no answer, second call, no answer... third call went to voicemail. the voicemail states they close at 6 and clearly states "This recording will not record a message" it also fails to offer an emergency number... if this was my laundry, there would be no problem but this is my pet and i expect a little more, but now problem, this is their policy and now i know and can make an informed decision whether to use them again, which i will not. The problem is that when i went to pick up my dog the next day, i stated that because they failed to answer the phone and gave me no way of reaching anyone, i thought it fair to comp me the last day or at least discount it. the owner went into a fit and at one point said to his employee, "Get his money, i am going to get the dog and then he is out of here." When he returned i reminded him that we are in Lancaster and not New York and he may want to think about that... he began to try to retreat from his anger but it was hardly sincere. he was a real jerk, and the employee's demeanor strongly suggested this is how he is... angry all the time. All i can say is that if this is how he treats people i am fearful to think of how he treated my dog, who growled at him on the way out and seemed very strange for the next day or two. read more
