We did the 2 hr and I felt like it was perfect we were able to explore all of Monterey and even had enough time to stop to get off and take pics. We took our 12yr old and 16yr old and they both loved it too. It was the perfect way to explore Monterey, especially since this was our first time visiting. The weather was perfect and Monterey is so beautiful. I felt safe and the car was really easy to drive. I also loved the audio guide, it made the experience even better. Much more fun than I thought it would be, when my 8 year old asked if we could do this I thought alright we can but I can't imagine it'll be great, but I was definitely wrong, it was great fun and I'd do it again. We did the hour tour but could have easily done a 2 hour one, time went by so quickly on that thing. Plus they're really easy to operate, my 78 year old mom did it with one of my kids and they managed to have fun and be safe. Had a fantastic time! I rented the All-Electric Arcimoto (front/back seater, with windscreen & a roof, that steered like a motorcycle). It was easy to drive and tons of fun. I took the two-hour tour starting near the Aquarium, up for a brief dash on the freeway (max speed on this vehicle is 80mph, but I only went 50mph on that stretch of freeway). Then headed south to Carmel beach and along the shore to Monastery Beach. Driving through the neighborhoods and beach paths I had many "admirers" who loved seeing this fun way to get around! Finally I headed back up north and into Pacific Grove, past Asilomar and followed the coastline back around to Lovers Point and some of the fabled B&Bs. What a fun way to see the coast! The point-by-point GPS navigation, plus an audio commentary, was spot-on and provided a lot of history and knowledge about the area. So glad I did this! read more

We came down from the bay as a group of 3 plus a 60lb dog, and we all had an amazing experience with GoCar. Decided last minute to try out this tour and had no idea what to expect. Upon arrival, finding the spot was a little confusing, but they're on the outer side of the hotel. The check in process was fairly easy and the guy at the front was super helpful and explaining everything. I will say, while watching the instructional driving video, I was a little scared because it's supposed to be more like a motorcycle. Once I was in the sea car itself, it took a bit of figuring out, but after about 15 minutes, I got the hang of it and wow was it so much fun! I got to drive in the street lanes right next to the beach while the guided tour voiced my navigation and fun facts. I ended up absolutely loving the whole experience and by the 30 minute mark, I was just having so much fun. It might give you a little anxiety knowing that there's a line of cars behind you and that you might be causing traffic, but for the most part, most people are super friendly and will let you go. It was about $100 per car per for an hour and it was so worth it! read more

One of the best things to do if you're in Monterey. The employee was extremely welcoming and kind, taught us everything we needed to know. He got us ready to go very quickly. A shared parking lot(with a restaurant) that has limited parking, maybe about 8 spots if I remember. The car itself was easy and fun to drive. A GPS and audio guided tour. Make sure you follow the GPS and stay on track! I got lost for the first 10 minutes or so and went off track, but eventually found my way back into the correct guide(it doesn't help reroute you to the correct path). Saw many beautiful and intriguing things with the audio tour explaining everything. Goes about 40 mph max. The car itself is extremely loud, even when gently and slowly accelerating forward(10 mph or less), so you will turn a lot of heads from the noise alone. You can stop at certain points when the guide lets you(can skip and keep going). Grab a blanket that they offer during your ride, it can get cold quick. Overall a great experience. read more

I booked a Sea Car Tour for my husband and I on a Sunday and it was such a fun experience. I called a week in advance and booked over the phone. We arrived about 45 minutes early to make sure we didn't lose any time because you do need to fill out paperwork and present proof of car insurance and your drivers license. 21+ are eligible to drive. We were able to start our tour a few mins early which was great. I reserved the E-Coupe which is a newer car and the staff considers it a "motorcycle". The views throughout the tour were stunning and in the E-Coupe we could hear the guide from the tablet perfectly. We did a 2 hour tour and that was plenty of time to see great views of the ocean, stop at the lighthouse and stop multiple other places to take a few pictures. If I could drop 1.5 stars, this review would be 3.5. But I'm going to leave it at 3. August 2021: I'm disappointed that they gave my parents a wrecked/ ugly car. (See photos) It's kind of funny to me that they didn't even give my parents the cars next to my rental sea car? I wonder why tbh. We even tried asking for a nicer looking car but with no hesitation, the broken car was supposedly one of "best working cars" lol yet there was one right next to ours and when we came back after strolling the wharf, cars in the second row were gone. It was my parents first time and it was pretty obvious, so of course, as their child, I would want them to have a full-almost-perfect experience; especially with something "fun" like this. Except nope, let's just give some oldies a jacked up car. Another thing that was different with this second time around was, I guess, they don't pull the sea cars outside the lot anymore (which is inconvenient because it could get backed up in the parking lot). My boyfriend and I took a trip to Monterey to for some out of town fun. We reserved a couple of sea cars to fill out itinerary. This was so fun and really made our trip a great one! We reserved two scoot coupes (1 for each of us) for a one hour tour. The cars were easy to use and worked great. We traveled around Monterey and the views were absolutely breath taking. Best friend and I had a blast doing the two hour coupe tour. The staff was friendly. There are only two small things I wish were different. 1) I wish the steering handlebars were on the left side so my friend didn't have to keep her arm squeezed in out of the way 2) the voice of the tour guide was louder or had volume control as it was hard to hear the voice over the car and with the wind. Super fun experience seeing Monterey and the neighboring cities! We booked out the tour a few months back for a Saturday afternoon. Unfortunately, due to the rain the day of, we had to reschedule. The staff was very friendly and accommodating so we were able to go out on Sunday morning before leaving. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable when it came to giving instructions. We had no issues with our scooter and it went super fast. The map was easy to follow but did get confusing at times when the route overlapped. Overall, we had a super fun time and the 1 hour tour was perfect for us since we did this on our last day and had already explored most of the area. The experience: Fun but with some caveats. The seat was uncomfortable and resulted in some back soreness the next day. The cars are a bit older so they may have a slight directional drift or some minor inconveniences. The audio on the iPad gets drowned out from the nose of the car so it is hard to hear the tour information. Need to know: It takes about 15 minutes to fill out the paperwork and go through the safety/operation information. Do bring a jacket and sunglasses, even if it is sunny/warm outside. The one hour tour is more than sufficient as you get great views of the coastline. You also get a 15 minute grace period which allows you to stop at vistas if you want. Notable: I should mention that the staff member was very helpful and friendly, accommodating us as a walk in. read more

Our first time on the Sea Car tour ride and I liked how we got to pass by the Monterey Bay Aquarium and go up the coast to Pacific Grove beach side and back down to Monterey. Great tour and location. We enjoyed the route that was provided to us via an iPad. We did the hour tour which gave us a few min to park by the coast and take a quick pictures. The reason for not giving the tour a 5/5 star is due to the fact that the cars are so loud and you cannot hear the navigation at all. The tour gives you the back ground and history of all the locations but you can't hear anything. We did get lost at one point since the navigation turned off so we just kept driving straight until the navigation turned back on. We booked 5 Sea Car Tour for our team building event on a Saturday and it was a fun experience for all of us. We called weeks in advance and booked over the phone. Planned a trip to Monterey for Father's Day weekend and of all the times we've went to Monterey we never tried the seacar. Let me just say what a wonderful way to learn and explore Monterey. We went to parts that we didn't even know existed. It was a pretty chilly day so we didn't quite dress accordingly. I definitely suggest grabbing a thick sweater or jacket.
