Drivers were very nice, and I felt they were very accommodating of foreigners. Also very funny! It was our first full day in Cork, and we had just finished having breakfast, and wanted to get a…read moresense as to what the area had to offer. As we had had general success with city tours in Dublin and Galway we figured why not, there are certainly worse ways to spend a couple of hours. That's probably technically true - we could have spent a couple of hours fighting off pickpockets or being strangled by an elephant. But at least with those activities the level of expectation would have been minimal (and hey, what stories we'd have to share!). We waited with a group of others near the foot of Oliver Plunkett Street on a surprisingly humid early Sunday afternoon (word to the wise - at the time we visited Ireland, the weather was more consistent with our experiences in Florida than our expectations for the British Isles, so one doesn't necessarily require heavy-layered clothing in the summertime). The bus arrived on time, and we were able to secure spots on the roof. In some limited ways the ride was informative - we did learn about tours we could take of nearby places, and we were informed about some freaky churches in the area. The close calls with foliage was also surprisingly entertaining. But unlike other rides, there was no personality from the driver. In fact, there was no interaction from the driver, apart from collecting our tolls, as the commentary was pre-recorded, and boring. So, my recommendation would be to consult one of the tourist shops to inquire about things to do in the area (i.e. Ring Of Kerry, Cobh, The Blarney Stone), and to simply walk around the River Lee island to take the city sights in yourself.

The station isn't super clean but the seats are usually clean. The station isn't too far from the city centre so it's a good way to spend a day in Cork. It's supposed to have free WiFi but it wasn't working today, not sure if that's a regular occurrence or not. There is a shop and a cafe, both are a little expensive which is to be expected at a train station.

I am an American tourist visiting Cork, on Friday, Nov. 17, 2017, and I requested our hotel to…read morerequest a taxi to pick us up outside Cork, near Midleton, and drop is off to Douglas, which is a nice area right next to Cork Centre. The fare was 35 Euros, fair considering the distance. A taxi arrived at the appointed time, but there was a stark difference between the age of the driver, young-ish, and the face on the taxi license, which bore the name Michael Constine; the driver was the son of Michael. The driver had been instructed by the hotel to take us to Douglas, but he left us off at Hayfield Hotel, almost 10 kilometers away from the correct address. Who knows what he was doing or thinking, and he was not especially nice or friendly on the ride. Once our party of three got out of the taxi, we soon realized Mr. Constine (jr's) error and we asked him to take us where he was supposed to go, and he swore at us, would not let us re-enter his taxi and he drove off. Do what you may to AVOID, at all costs, Michael Constine in a taxi, son or father. We had to pay another 25 Euros to get to our correct destination. I am requesting a full refund, but don't expect any reply either from father or son, or the taxi service he is associated with. This experience left us all with a bad taste and reflects poorly on Cork. Shame on the Constine family for treating visitors with such hostility. David
