I was given a warm referral for Dr. Go from a fellow classical singer friend of mine. My issue was a wire had come undone from my permanent retainer, but I also wanted to take the opportunity to ask about tensions in the jaw that I thought were related to my orthodontics. Not only was my wire issue addressed, Dr. Go clearly understood what my tension was (it wasn't just the retainer, but a question of my unique anatomy), and she patiently but determinedly explained--taught me--until I understood as well. A decades-old habit AND false body perception was revealed, and with it, an emotional release occurred, as the body finally understood where the disconnect was. I now have a clear idea of what I can do on my own, and what would require another investment into a procedure. I was not hurried into making any kind of decision on the next step, but I know who I would want to do the procedure.
Dr. Go's intuition/wisdom, knowledge, professionalism, and warmth is remarkable and I felt in good hands immediately, and for the whole consultation/procedure. Dr. Go is also extremely supportive of musicians and other artists, and the appointment I had not only helps me to understand a tension-based block I have in my singing (as well as speaking, chewing, swallowing) but also gave me a renewal of purpose in my craft, and the role that artists play in the lives of others. Dr. Go made me feel like I had all the time in the world when we were speaking, and was genuine in listening to both my concerns, and even my resulting insights from our session. I particularly encourage anyone experiencing TMJ symptoms to have a consultation. Dr. Go understands that everyone's situation is unique, and helps the individual see for themselves. She is also understanding of the artist's financial reality. This wasn't just an orthodontist appointment. It was something rather life-changing. The staff are all very friendly and facilities at the office are wonderful. Tea or coffee offered right when you come in. Easy downtown location. I can't recommend Dr. Go enough. Go :) read more
