Heath Robinson Museum

Heath Robinson Museum

This museum opened back in October 2016, so my visit today was my first, and what a sweet place it…read moreis. Located on the lovely Pinner Memorial Park, the setting couldn't be nicer. It's an easy walk from Pinner station. It's currently only open Friday-Sunday, but I booked in a group tour and took along 15 people. You enter through the ubiquitous gift shop, which isn't large but has a changing range of items by local artists, as well as books and other little things that I totally wanted. There are 3 rooms - an activity studio, a temporary exhibition, and a permanent exhibition. We couldn't go into the activity studio as it was being used for a half-term activity - glass painting. But there was a sign saying that on a Friday, they have an artist who uses the room to sketch and you are welcome to go in and watch and ask questions. The permanent exhibition is chronological and it was really interesting to see the variety of work that Heath Robinson did - but as ever, having a tour makes a big difference as you get a lot of context and little stories that bring it all to life. The temporary exhibition is currently on the brothers Robinson, and had a great breadth of work from the three Robinsons, including items on loan from the family, things that haven't ever been seen before. The group I brought (all over 60s) were fascinated by the whole thing. Even though I went along knowing very little about Heath Robinson, I enjoyed my visit, too. Our group tour was £5 per person, and another £30 for the steward to do the tour. Normal tickets are £6-ish.

Popped into Club 2000 with two mates with the intention to have few drinks and some food. The place…read morewas not full when we got in and we were asked if we have placed a reservation. They managed to find us a table anyways. The service was bit is shambles from the start. Took ages to get our drinks and then a lot of time for the starters. We had two starters-Chicken Achari (Indian Pickle) Tikka and a Royal Paneer. The Chicken was indicated as hot and spicy exactly as I like them. The starters took ages to come and there was no way to get attention of the staff. There were two guys behind the bar and only two on the floor. The place was full very soon and it was quite chaotic scenes all over. The food arrived after considerable delay and it was unlike what I had expected. Presentation wise, the chicken was ok but the paneer looked unappealing. Taste - Chicken let me down big time. It was not worth the wait or price. The paneer was also not great as it was not cooked to my liking however the Sauce (Fenugreek and Cream) was nice. The lack of quality service and the lacklustre food meant that we decided to leave without mains and have dinner elsewhere. The place however has a good ambience and a decent menu. I believe the owner is a sports aficionado and there are many sports memorabilia around the property. It is a shame that the quality or lack of it of the staters didn't encourage me enough to order a Mince Chicken dish that I really wanted to sample. 2 stars. I might go back just once and try my luck at a different time of day and try different dishes and it might just get converted to a 3 Stars.

My comments here are strictly for the dishes we ordered, I was super excited and was looking…read moreforward to some real curries here in London Let's start with the ambience, nothing much to write, service was okay. We ordered Britain's national dish, Chicken Tikka Masala, the COOK failed miserably, a horrendous curry peddled as Chicken Tikka Masala, a huge disappointment! Fish curry was the other dish we ordered, a mediocre dish at best The curry capital of the world and this restaurant was a big disappointment. The one star I gave was for the nan, the one dish that is so famous and I was dying to have ever since I arrived was a great let down, I'm sure they have better dishes but Chicken Tikka Masala and fish curry were not their strong point.
