The restaurant and breakfast area were pretty average. The check in process took quite some time. The Pullman is a great location, however, for experiencing the heart and city of Adelaide. It's easy to take short drives to things like the Adelaide Hills for a wine day and don't forget to make the trip to Kangaroo Island.

The…read morelobby is much too small to accommodate the amount of people that the theatre itself can entertain. Waiting for the doors to open, or for interval is the absolute pits and you're liable to be either the victim or perpetrator of an elbow to the eye. Somehow the minimal staff at the bar manage to not merely cope but efficiently and genially serve the masses and one is never left to wait for a wine or pack of Malteasers. The theatre has plenty of seating and all seats seem to have a great view of the performance. Whilst the performance I saw there was a musical, I think the stage was perhaps more designed for plays, as the orchestra overflowed out every which way with the brass and percussion marooned in separate areas flanking the bulk of the orchestra. Despite that, the sound was still very good and I heard everything from up the back. Not sure whether the lighting was the production's or the venue's but it too was very good. I both heard and saw all I was supposed to during the performance. Parking is pretty dreadful here and you have to fight with the masses to park in pokey little side streets which really should be one way but aren't. It is worth the inevitable walk from your park to the theatre though and all irritations are thwarted be the overall pleasantness of the experience.

Wandered down Gresham Street to get away from the usual Hindley crowd. It was quiet for a Friday…read morenight so I had a chance to talk to the bar staff about their specialty item: Moonshine. This was my first experience trying moonshine, funnily enough it doesn't come in those stereotypical hillbilly ceramic jugs and there are actually quite a few varieties. Their moonshine comes imported from interstate or all the way from Tennessee. I spent a few minutes picking different jars off the shelf to have a smell and get a bit of a story for each one, the staff are definitely experts. The flavoured moonshines go well with soda water, but if you want something a bit more creative, Mississippi Moon offers a few mixed moonshine cocktails including my new favourite; Ole Smoky Apple Pie moonshine, apple juice and cinnamon. Bar staff are the friendliest you'll meet on a Friday night on the west end, even had a few games of UNO with some other punters over the bar. Decor has a cosy, modern and 'Southern' vibe, will probably seat around 20 people at a guess. Definitely a highlight of a night in town, will hopefully get another chance to Mississippi Moon.

Well, having been thinking about the concept of the 'Old Man Pub' when I glanced at this place…read morethinking about how I should describe it that term seems to fit perfectly. Okay, it does like in the shadow of the Arkaba, but it has something that the Arkaba lacks - the tackiness of your classic old man pub, complete with the old men sitting at the bar. I haven't been here much, though I did land up here for a function years ago (having been dragged along by a friend to an Amway convention) but other than that this was just a pub we went past on our way out the hills. As a pub it's nothing special, but it does have a nice beer garden, and the old man tackiness does give it some character.

A small negative is the inside decor and the actual front of the venue looking a little run-down and outdated, so it definitely isn't a "trendy" pub. I would recommend this place for your standard bevvy and delicious burger that are reasonably priced, a joke and a smile from the bar staff and the fact that you'll never have to wait for a table, instead you can get one straight away so you relax to your hearts desire!

Even in cardboard take out containers, each meal was beautifully plated. I had the dukkah crusted salmon which was perfectly cooked, and hubby had the steak which he said was phenomenal. Actually, it is pretty obvious that the National Motor Museum is nearby because there are pictures of cars all over the wall, and even an old motorcycle in the foyer. Do expect this place to get pretty crowded on those days when the tourists flock to the area because this is one of the main places to grab a bite to eat. We ended up having our lunch here and I have to admit that the schnitzel was okay, but certainly not the best.

For someone like me who gets serious food envy, this place is the place to take any friend, lover or family member who selfishly only ever wants to keep their dish to themselves. Why? Because you can say "well the menu recommends we share..." Giallo Wine Bar has recently been taken over by new management, who also owns Greenway Gallery next door. The setting is intimate and small and the outdoor area would be beautiful in summer. I'm not so sure about the random art pieces in glass cabinets around the restaurant but never mind you'll be too distracted by the menu. Whenever I dine out I try to pack in as many experiences as possible to my meal. As a result I will normally order 3 glasses of different wines rather than a bottle to share. Again, this place is a perfect setting! Go in, say what you feel like and the waiter will bring you something new and different to try. They have an amazingly diverse wine list that doesn't just stock from SA - that excites me. Their share plates are not big, but the richness and intensity of flavours mean that 3 or 4 plates + a salad for 2 is plenty. My favourite dishes were the scallops with a white bean puree and crisp pancetta or their Gawler River quail with caramalised pear and sherry vinegar. The blend of ingredients meant there were many oo's and ah's had with each bite. Service was wonderful and very efficient and there was never a moment our wine glasses or water was empty. Don't be on a budget when going here and please don't complain that the meals are too small. Sharing is caring people and stop being a greedy guts!

Then again I probably shouldn't be all that surprised considering that not only is it Glenelg, it is the type of place that really only the locals know about, and considering the locals, then this is going to be one of those pubs that I really do like. Well, I wasn't wrong at all, they have an awesome beer garden, with a stage, and a great selection of beers as well. Definitely one to check out.

We were in a group of 6. The food was of high quality and there were only positive remarks about size of the meals and quality from the rest of our group. The problem was with one of the shared meals that my friend and I had. We decided to have the "Barramundi and prawns" at a cost of $70.00. After waiting over an hour (all the others in our group already had their main courses), the meal finally came out on one plate which we had to divide up on our individual plates. It looked lovey! The issue with both of us, was the size of the shared meal we had to split up! There were ONLY 4 prawns! We had 2 each!! Mine were over cooked and tough. The barramundi was delicious, but certainly not enough for 2 people! One person could have eaten the whole lot easily. We certainly didn't get value for our $70.

You can sit at formally set dining tables (wine glasses and all) or with in the bistro (which is just as pleasant). The atmosphere is lovely and well decorated. The menu has enough schmancy words on it to make it sound like the meals are going to be gour-met enough so that they can justify asking for $25 for a salmon main in a pub. The mains aren't bad. Food is above average pub fare and they even fry their mash potato into balls. Only complaint? Not enough salad/chips for the price of the mains that you are paying for. After all, we aren't in the Queen's dining hall... I had a very well cooked Atlantic Salmon dish on a bed of beetroot risotto (that my friends delightfully described to look like "kittens insides" before I ate it). But unfortunately that was it. Aside from a few bits of fennel and orange it was basically fish and rice. Would have loved a heavier garnish to make the most of the dish. Not sure what the bar is like in this place but when we went to check it out at 11pm on a Saturday night after a show at the Thebbie it was closed! Maybe people don't go out in Torrensville on a Saturday...
