I've been once and really did like her. It was a simple trim, but I was ready to (gasp) add bangs and she helped talk me through it. She's super nice and listened to me as I explained what I wanted, and showed her some photos. We talked through the pros and cons before I decided to go with it. She started me out with just a little bit and I went back a week later and added some more (at no charge). The space is clean. She's super nice. I'm a fan and have my follow up trim scheduled for next week!

She is patient and so nice to chat with. After she opened up her salon I found her again and absolutely love her. She now does my color and eyebrows in addition to cut and style and has been flawless. We did a semi ombré thing last time and not only did I love it, but received tons of compliments and Scottsdale friends asking for my colorist. I have to mention that I really like the home salon feel, not intimidating whatsoever, and her adorable dog Betty is so sweet. Writing this reminds me I am due for a cut.

Back to that in a sec. Great experience and a super clean shop in Old Town. I typically don't talk to a barber other than "this is what I want" at the beginning and "thanks" at the end. Now that I think about it, I don't talk much at all anywhere, but Jenna draws you out and is super easy to talk to and made the whole service thoroughly enjoyable. Back to the shampoo and scalp massage...I haven't had a shampoo with a cut since I was a little kid in the 70s with a bowl cut. The tea tree shampoo followed by the scalp massage? That scalp massage did me in. I've been fighting off a nap ever since. Guess I have a new barber... Thanks Jenna!

This is in the back portion of Whisker's Barber on 7th Street and Maryland. Sally has a knack for decorating and making the salon feel like home. There is a comforting, relaxing and Zen feel to the building. Most of the furniture has been restored by her magic touch, coupled with artwork, relaxing lighting, and nice aroma's. I have been visiting Sally for about 5 years. I had incredibly overprocessed and damaged long hair. She was able to restore the damage and has worked with me through varied style requests ever since! I can never make up my mind on what I want to do with my hair, and though I love everything she ever does to it, she is supportive and fun with my zest for constant change or new styles. She is the type who will offer advice if you need suggestions on a look, or will work with you to create any style/color/cut you desire. She is patient, relaxed, and honestly one of the kindest women I have ever known. Tresses provides a relaxing environment with sophistication and expertise. I couldn't recommend anyone more highly. Donna Ricki "Design That Matters by Donna" 602.463.9896 I…read morechecked AZ Cosmetology Board for both names - no results. Checked by address for Valencia Salon Studios, found 1 Yelp review. Author posted that her first visit was great because Donna gave her makeup, hair style, color and clothing tips - plus she didn't charge her $. My 1st visit w/ Donna was similar, I went to Donna because I needed to have my previous hair cut corrected after I let it grow out - I paid for it, but got all that extra stuff free! I was impressed so I made an appt for 6 wks later for color (gray hair touch up) and cut. It ended up being the worst experience I've had in several decades. If you are thinking of going to Donna, I want to give you a "heads up". It took me over 1 month to process how disappointed I was, maybe I can save you the same grief. Here is a list of my observations of Donna and her studio which led me to write this review: (I am not a prolific Yelp reviewer.) 1. I never saw a license displayed in her salon which is required by law 2. Her space is small, about the size of a low-med rate hotel bathroom, no room for a hairdryer or extra supplies. 3. She asked me to bring in photos of my hair throughout my life for her "analysis". 4. She recommended products but does not have them available for purchase. She tells clients to go "on-line" to buy them. My online search was challenging because the info she gave me and cell phone photos were inaccurate - I ordered products that best matched her descriptions. Used them for 1 mo = a bogus rip-off. 5. The color and cut appt were the worst, paid $140 for it. Style was inappropriate for my face shape (she felt it went well with my body type). Initially I told her I could not tolerate long bangs on 1 side of my face that cover my eye. I've got a long narrow face that looks longer and narrower with hair too short and a big glob of hair covering my right eye. When I made the 2nd appt and told Donna I wanted color also, I asked if she had my color available. "Oh, yes - no problem", yet the color she applied was too dark and the wrong tone of brown. After shampooing my hair she said,"The color will lighten up after a couple shampoos" WTH? It didn't lighten up until 6 wks later when I got a root touch-up from a different stylist. 6. Donna offers a free haircut to patrons who refer a friend. First time I ever heard that offer... Good luck if you are in the market for a new stylist, I hope my review helps. If you read this and are one of Donna's clients I hope you will ignore this and continue to have a good relationship with her.
