INITIAL DISCUSSIONS (FEB 22, 2024) We asked Keith if…read moreremoving the flooring would speed up the project but eventually kept tile. HandyWorks would demo and install the new tile. We also discussed painting cabinets, eyeing a mid-March start. PRICING & COMMUNICATION (FEB 26-27) We received only a "line item overview," no per-task costs. Repeated requests for a true breakdown were never fulfilled. Sue, the project manager, offered no real help with fixture selection (e.g., she told us to "use the filters" on a website we'd already tried). TIMELINE DISCONNECT (FEB 28) Keith disclosed late that the countertop needed a 10-business-day lead time and that subsequent tasks would push the project to around three weeks--far beyond our hoped-for one-week timeframe. CONTRACT & SCOPE OMISSIONS (MAR 12-21) After I canceled a meeting, Keith declined to email the contract, insisting on another in-person appointment. We finally reviewed it on March 15 but discovered the trashcan insert was omitted. Keith apologized yet still never provided a detailed cost breakdown. TILE PROBLEMS (SPRING 2024-MAY 2025) Several tiles were laid out improperly, and two had extra-wide grout lines. Keith's crew returned weeks later, but he sent a finish carpenter, not a tiler, leaving flaws. They redid those tiles again in May 2025 without Keith supervising. The tiler also used floor leveler to raise part of our century-old floor several inches--without our consent--then tried to charge extra and later failed to remove it from the invoice promptly. COUNTERTOP & BACKSPLASH ISSUES (FEB-MAY 2025) Small items rolled off the countertop's edge. By April, the section over the dishwasher sagged, leaving a gap. Keith finally added a bracket in May, admitting it should have been done initially. For the backsplash, his crew broke the grey-white marble pattern without asking, substituting grey for white near the edge. Keith insisted the white pieces were "too small" to cut, which felt untrue, and he never consulted us. OTHER UNPROFESSIONAL INCIDENTS Keith brought up politics (specifically, Trump) during contract signing, which felt inappropriate. One day, his workers cut quartz with our windows open, blanketing our downstairs in dust, for which he offered $200. A worker also smoked in our backyard after we explicitly said no. FINAL INVOICE & REFUND DISPUTE (SEPT 2024-MAR 2025) Keith apologized for including the unapproved floor-leveler charge on our final bill. We requested about a 10% refund due to recurring problems and incomplete fixes. He verbally agreed in March 2025 but later avoided the subject. We still haven't received any compensation. BBB complaint pending.

They also left lead paint chips all over the yard from the outside of the house; after stating they would clean it up. No issues with individual people or workers. What was most disturbing was the swarm of vultures who dove in to try and take advantage of the potential Insurance Money associated with the demolition and rebuild project which lied ahead of us. Thankfully, we did our homework, and did not commit to any of the false promises which most of the initial companies were falsely promising. As business owners ourselves, we had high expectations of the type of quality company we were going to entrust in the work required to work on our home. Through thorough research and interviews, we settled on working with Santoro Home Improvements.... and couldn't be happier with the result! Tony was an excellent communicator. He was honest & fair in his proposals & prompt with his replies. He and his team executed their tasks in a punctual manner, and took it upon themselves to review the job upon completion. We HIGHLY RECOMMEND working with Tony and his Team at Santoro!!

Our experience with Santoro Home Improvements was extremely positive from start to finish. Our plan…read morewas to build a significant addition to our son and daughter- in- law's historic home for us as we were in the process of downsizing. We wanted a contractor in the area of our new dwelling and searched the internet. After several calls we got to Santoro and we had a good feeling immediately. We met with Tony and knew we had the right people for our project. Tony spent time with us and put all our concerns to rest including connecting us to a very capable architect who was equally as nice and kind as Tony. The planning and construction took several months in including Covid but was smooth and orderly. If there were any glitches they were minor and taken care of right away but nothing affecting the big picture. We moved in on New Year's Day 2021 and could not be more satisfied. For us this was a huge undertaking with selling our house, planning where to go next and the move itself. I think Tony realized this and his patience and kindness made this whole thing a lot less stressful than we anticipated. Overall we are all happy and comfortable in our new house and could not be more grateful that we found Tony and Santore Home Improvements. Marie & John G. Hamden,Ct

They were involved in every phase of the project from design collaboration, architectural planning, finish selections, excavation, foundation, construction, and final detail work. The quality of the work was fantastic, especially in the vaulted ceiling and beam work. The new porch and bedroom blend so naturally into the house that you would never know they were added later. Everyone on their team was professional, skilled, and respectful throughout the process. Communication was clear and consistent. We would confidently hire Lambert and Barr again.

I hired Rick to replace the subflooring and tub in my bathroom, but ended up hiring him to tile the bathroom floor, fix the flashing on my chimney, install basement windows, replace a rotten deck step, and put in a new hot water heater. He did a beautiful job with the bathroom remodel and all of my additional requests; I now have the bathroom I dreamed of! He was flexible when I asked him to complete additional tasks around my home, and pointed out improvements that I could make myself to keep my energy bills down. Rick walked me through the entire process, what I could expect, and how I could get the most value on my limited budget. His price was fair and I got a terrific value- he charged what he estimated. He was very responsive to my questions, kept my home clean, and did fantastic work. I don't think there's anything he can't do! Not only is Rick a fantastic contractor, but he's an exceptional person- he was unfailingly kind and good-humored, even when we hit challenges in my old home. He's a terrific guy and a pleasure to work with. I can't recommend him highly enough, and I won't make future improvements to my home without him.

As a widowed single mother of two girls in an incredibly difficult accelerated one year nursing…read moreprogram, I was beyond overwhelmed when I had a major septic overflow in my home. My first-floor bathroom, front hallway and entire kitchen needed to be gutted. The team manager of the mitigation company that I used, suggested David Colite of Colite Construction simply because he used the same program that the insurance companies use to build estimates for damage repairs. Supposedly it was more seamless to work with a contractor that used this program. Due to the fact that I was so busy with school and taking care of my girls, I agreed to go with David Colite. It was the worst decision I could have made. I am confident that David Colite will respond to this negative review like he has with others on other reputable websites; stating that he is really upset that I am writing this, that he did everything I asked of them and that I signed the job satisfaction form. He told me multiple times that I was an awesome client and quite honestly I know that I was. I paid him on time and I wasn't phased when he needed to be at another job for a day to receive a delivery or do work. I was kind, patient and trusting...too trusting, my mistake. It wasn't until we were nearing the end of the job that I started seeing the poor workmanship and even worse I realized that he had charged me for several items that had never been purchased and in fact, I had purchased them myself. The signed contract stated that the job would be completed by May 31, 2018. The last time he was at my home was June 26, 2018 and the job was not near completion. I wish that I could post the text messages and recorded voicemails from him promising to complete the work after I raised my concerns, specifically responding, "Piece of cake. I had planned on doing most of that today. We will take care of all of that not a problem." It wasn't until I asked him to do the right thing and reimburse me for over $3,000 that he received payment on and yet he did not purchase the materials or perform the work, that he replied letting me know that his work was done, that the project was complete and wished me good luck. I also wish that I could post the multiple photos of the work that he and his children did at my home, the craftsmanship is so poor. If you look at the photos I took of my kitchen from afar, they look beautiful. That is what he used to send to the insurance company to show the work was complete. No other photos were sent because the bathroom was not near completion. If I was able to post close-up photos of the kitchen, you would see the multiple corners that were cut and how poor the craftsmanship is. He put the job satisfaction one-sheet in front of me as I was racing out the door to pick up my children, and more importantly he did this prior to the work being completed. My attorney laughed at the job satisfaction form, stating that it would NEVER stand up in court and is extremely unprofessional. I also wish that I could share the PowerPoint document that I created for the insurance company that is 20 pages long with specifics of everything that happened from April to late June of this year. At the end of the day, I was too kind, too generous, and too trusting of David Colite of Colite Construction. Lesson learned. This man is not to be trusted. All that he cares about is getting paid and will cut corners on anything to get the job completed. Luckily, I have consulted with my attorney and I will be working with my insurance company to get the work done properly.
