If you choose to shop here I highly recommend checking expiration dates of every product. Consistently have purchased items well beyond best by dates most recently a cream cheese dip expired June or 2025 with it being August. I will likely keep shopping here occasionally (with a diligent eye) for a few items here and there because many of the cashiers that work here are very kind and helpful people. read more

Stopped on my way home from work today. The outside looked like any other small market. I wasn't sure if it would be safe but saw it was. I went in to get some shredded cheddar cheese for our packed nachos and picked that up along with 11 packs of Baudacco hazelnut wafers on special for $1 each and 2 dozen eggs. There was only one checkout lane open when I went to cash out and 4 people in front of me, but after seeing 4 more people line up behind they finally opened up another register, that helped speed it up a bit. Was curious to see if I could get "real deal" fatback but after briefly carrying I could no longer get... Curious about Chinese Spare Ribs and considered buying now that I know the secret to the McRib was the Banquet Backyard BBQ Pork was putting the rib it came with in a bun so thought I'd do the same... Could have gotten a good deal on pork butt 'buuutttt' settled for it at the store I work at (Kroger) and seem to have more than I know what to do with and could have gotten a small easy to finish up Cole Slaw as I'm battling he expiration date on my jumbo sized but got a better deal on the right amount of dressing... Yours are too hiiii... Bundt cakes were cool, a hummingbird and sock it to me were the highlights but most such as the 7-up and usual flavors I could make myself... Didn't see anything impressive or unique in the soda pop/soft drink aisle--usually give into the temptation to buy lots of Jaritos which surprisingly there was not that huge and exotic selection of... The next aisle sported paper goods in which I thought I was mistaken for a receiving person asked to open a delivery door, but it turns out I gotta hand it to your Glory Guardsmen... I had a first experience while shopping in a grocery store, Glory's! While walking down the store isle, I walked into a cloud of smoke! Shocked, I looked around to see where it came from. It was a store employee vaping up a big cloud while stocking the store shelves!!! I was totally surprised by this! Can you Vap/smoke in the stores now? My wife had been here before and it was pretty bad. There has been a real effort through a local Facebook group and the store manager to improve things. The good: The store is clean, bright, well organized, and large. Clean except for the birds flying around in the store. The fruit and veggie selection was large and almost everything looked good. The staples are here at decent prices. The staff is polite. The okay: The meat section is large, but the cuts are okay quality, Select at best for beef. A number of products selection is based on Black Urban working and lower class. Examples (there are a lot): The beer area is some cases of Bud type beer, and lots of giant cans of macro beer. Some small selection of typical soda pop, and huge pallets of Faygo (locally based Urban version of soda pop). If they get the bird issue under control this is good for staples not including beer or meat. Update: They did not get the bird issue under control, and someone sent pictures of the birds eating the meat through the wrappers to channel 2. read more

Horrible place...over priced, poor customer service especially once at checkout, and the meat is usually yellow or gray. Hi everyone Well today I went to Glory Supermarket in OakPark. I just needed to grab some fresh veggies and to my supprise it was so very dispointing. The veggies looked so bad they should not have been out for anyone to buy. The store was clean but the fresh fruit and veggies were aweful. I will never go back for anything in that department. I gave them a 2 star because the people that worked there seem nice. Don't think I would shop there cause I like to get everything at one time, not go to different stores for freshness. I don't have that kind of time or gas. read more

Not my favorite store to shop at but I go here because their ground turkey and hamburger meat is sometimes cheaper. However, their produce is much higher than anywhere else I've ever been and alot of the times their items dont have prices on them and I hate having to go back and forth to the register to ask. Warning! Pay attention to prices when they are ringing up your items, several times they have over charged me for a item that was on sale in the paper and if I had not have caught it I would have been paying for it. There was one incident where I bought eggs and the price said 4/5 but when I got to the register it came up diffrent so I told the lady and she didnt send anyone to check just kept saying thats the price so I told her to take it off then. So my fiance gos back into the store to grab some cheese and said he saw a employee changing the sign on the eggs. Just ridiculous! And theres also another female employee who works there who always seams to be flirtatious towards my fiance. Even if im not in her line she will even come over to where we are and say something to him but doesnt acknowledge me. One time she called him a liar out of no where we wernt even in her line and that was when I had it so I said excuse me do you know him and she said no so I said then dont come over here speaking to my man, thats unprofessional. read more

This is a nice market to have close buy when I don't feel like driving the extra couple miles to go to Kroger. Some of the products can be a tad bit pricey but they do have some nice finds and good deals/sales sometimes too. Like I said some of their stuff is a bit over priced I think and their produce section is nothing to rave about but they have some cool finds and some products that I can only find here like packages of ramen noodles but just the noodles. I love to make my own ramen because I can put whatever I want in it and this is the only place I know that sells just the noodles. I also really like when their Minute Maid juice is on sale. I believe the last time they were only a dollar and they have flavors that can be hard to find like peach and mango :) I come in here a lot for spices and seasonings especially during the fall and winter since I make lots of soups, chilis and comfort food that requires lots of different spices. They have a brand that I like, Spice Supreme, and I used to get all the time before Kroger switched and started selling their own brand of seasonings which can be pretty pricey. The Spice Supreme spices are only .99 and last basically forever. read more

Glory Supermarket anchors the corner of the shopping plaza at the corner of Nine Mile and Coolidge Highway. A much needed addition to Oak Park, it brings fresh produce and Spartan-brand goods to an area that could use another reliable chain. The grocery store is newly remodelled inside and out, and it is clean, bright, and spacious inside. Getting in and out is a snap thanks to ample parking. Do be warned though: if you go eastbound on Nine Mile, traffic pretty much crawls to a halt as dazzled drivers become indecisive about whether or not to stop in. The neon glow of the sign lures these flies bombling between lanes at a snail's pace, much to the frustration of people like me who just want to keep going and get around them. Also take note, the first entrance leads into the Mobil gas station, a Venus fly trap if there ever was one. Staff so far has shown themselves to be quite friendly and helpful, stopping to offer assistance and directions. Case in point, a friendly fellow asked me if I was looking for baskets when he caught me staring at the cart area up front for longer than four seconds. He guided me over, and handed me a basket just as I reached the stand. That's great service. I really hope they continue this trend, but we'll see. As a Spartan store, there are a mix of home and national and local brands. Expect a more limited selection than Kroeger or Meijer. Usually there are two to three varieties of main staples if you're lucky. Case in point: they have two brands of whole-wheat flour (expensive and much more expensive), and the key flavours of Dannon Light 'n Fit yoghurt but none of the seasonals that you would find elsewhere. I am disappointed by the lack of healthy foods in particular; there were no fat-free options of cottage cheese or cream cheese, for example. Reduced sodium or fat-free varieties of most foods are nominal to non-existent, which knocks Glory out of contention for being my regular supermarket. I'll sooner drive to Holiday or, more likely Meijer/Kroger up on Coolidge Highway and Thirteen, for specialty items. It disappoints me to see no focus on healthy eating, particularly in an area so close to Ferndale/Royal Oak. Prices are higher than I am used to paying, another knock against the chain. Yoghurts are $.89; Meijer has them for $.49, and usually on sale. Milk, eggs, and bread are usually $.50+ higher. I don't like being gouged for convenience. I realize that seasonal produce and meat will fluctuate, but dry goods and staples ranging from chocolate chips to frozen food shouldn't be hitting 20% to 35% higher than other surrounding stores. I'm glad for a clean, friendly store but I won't be making a regular point of shopping here. read more

I have been an Oak Park resident for over 30yrs and this is the worst store ever. The meat here is atrocious. On several occasions before I gave up purchasing meat here, I have had to return spoiled chicken and fish, ground chuck and pork chops that just taste weird and make you wonder "what kind of meat is this"? And when I thought I could just purchase national brands or "freezer items", that even proved to be untrue. I purchased Spartan brand garlic bread and although the box itself was sealed, the inner packaging was opened and a slice of the bread "missing". ??? This store is terrible and deserves NO STARS but you can't post without it. I want them gone. read more

I am an Oak Park resident of many years, although I frequently shop at the market on Coolidge at 696, I welcomed the opening of the new Glory Supermarket on Coolidge at 9 Mile. The store is located closer to my house and appeared to be clean and price competitive. I became a customer since the Grand opening, spending an average of $100-$200 weekly. A couple of weeks ago I bought a family pack of Blue Ribbon Hot Beef Sausages only to find when I opened the package it smelled of spoiled meat. I didn't make a big issue of my $9.99 I spent because I misplaced my receipt and understand things happen. I made them aware of it and continued to shop there. On Friday, December 23rd, I stopped in after work to do my holiday shopping, spending about $120 and purchased a double pack of vacuum sealed Beef Ribs. On Saturday night, I slit the package open to clean and marinate the beef ribs for my Christmas dinner on Sunday... The smell was ATROCIOUS.!!! I checked the date which was December 11. My Christmas dinner was ruined because that's the only meat I had for my family dinner. There was nothing I could do because the next day was Christmas and the store would not re-open until Monday. On Monday, I went in and asked to speak to the Manager who stated his name was 'Fred' and explained to him the situation. He was very rude and nonchalant... In so many words insinuating that I had done something to the meat because "No one else complained or returned any of the same meat". Not once did he offer an apologize nor express the importance of my business or me as a customer. He 'Fred' also stated that it was "impossible because they receive the beef ribs daily" (I find this hard to believe because beef ribs are not a hot commodity, especially during winter months). He offered me a refund, never even looked in the bag to see what was in it until I stated, "This can't be true because 'your' date stamp clearly says December 11 (an over-sight on my part at purchase) and I bought it on December 23rd. Needless to say, I received a refund, still no apology... They lost a very valuable customer with powerful contacts... The Oakland County Health Department will be notified and I will spread the word throughout the Oak Park Community. Also, I will continue to shop down the street where my business is appreciated and I am respected as a consumer. I stopped shopping here on a regular when they disclosed their beef is from Mexico, but I have stopped in on an occassion or two and purchased items that I discovered were expired once I arrived home. This is a follow-up to the problem I had trying to exchange a package of steaks that only had 2 instead of 3 steaks in the package. The cocky, disrespectful manager who calls himself Fred refused to handle the situation, insinuating that I had took one steak out so that I could bring back 2 and get 3. Well, he suggested I go to Walter, who turned out to be Wally, a respectful and polite manager who had the meat department exchange my package of steaks for a fresh 3 pack. I was so pleased with his mannerism that I paid the difference for a higher quality of steak and bought a pack of onions and oranges. Wally and the cashiers at this store have always been nice and good at their jobs. So I will continue to shop at Glory as my second store My first store is Hiller's in Berkley but I do not want any contact with Mr. "Rude" Fred. read more

My brother-in-law use to always shop at the Glory's in Highland Park. Every time I tried to cook meat from there, it always smelled bad. It was usually hamburger. After a couple years went by up to now, my car is down; I went to Highland Park's Glory so that I wouldn't take my driver too much out the way. I bought some hamburger, cooked it tonight and it still smelled the same way. I had completely forgot about it. smh. Will not go there anymore!!!!! I believe in supporting local businesses, and I've shopped at Glory for a while, but I just can't do it anymore. Every aisle has food that is out of date, and I have bought food that is not expired, yet it has been rancid. There is no excuse for this. The produce section is horrible; I would not buy anything there. I can't trust buying any of their meat. Even boxed or canned foods are out of date. Why are they still open, and why do they think this is okay? We deserve better than this, and I will give up the convenience of shopping close to home and drive 20 minutes to Meijer because I need to know that the food I buy is fresh. read more
