Welcome to Harbor Gateway Transit Center…read more Located in that city I was born in, Gardena. Truly was not sure where I was, but it's a across from a Home Depot, no lights or real intersection, but a super hub for the LA Metro bus system, including the J Line (aka Silver). Just off the 110 Freeway, by the 91 and nearby the 405 on 182nd Street. I was pleasantly surprised to see they layout here. Easy to navigate, plenty of signs and like a lot of others have mentioned efficient. Times for frequency on weekends are the worst. It was giving, " All he cares about is school and his mom and his friends (and work)." Does the LA Metro not realize people like to enjoy the weekend also after a long hard week? Thankfully I wasn't going to much further from here and caught a ride over to Redondo Beach. The area is a little rough around the edges, but pretty updated and cleaned up where it counts. Definitely should be some safer walking and crossing areas, outside the Transit Center. Public restrooms are available. Parking is also available if commuting with roughly 1,000 spots. LA Metro workers often around and visible. Great way to get to events, work and functions. Hope times, frequencies and connections improve in the future. You can't predict traffic, incidents or human circumstances, but you (LA Metro) can plan better for transfers and smoother rides from point A to B on their end.

On weekday afternoons, there is a bus every 5 minutes. On weekends, they run every 15. We arrive back to the transit center after 10 pm at times and I never feel unsafe. A ride home if I have had a couple drinks is way cheaper than parking Downtown. It is also a quick bus ride to BMO Stadium and the Coliseum.

I was here on a leisure trip and the cheapest way to get around is by local transit/train. The station did look a bit old and dirty and I guess it depends on what time you show up. We were taking the train back to the airport and it was convenient. The only thing I found strange is that the elevators only take you down to the ground floor but not up. You have to take the escalator up. Also, the escalator was broken when we were there.

We took the GREEN LINE from the South Bay Beach Cities area and got off at the HARBOR FREEWAY…read moreSTATION to then catch a transfer connection onto the SILVER BUS to get to the USC area to attend an NFL Los Angeles Rams football game, over at the LA Coliseum. Luckily, the bus was staffed decently, as the 1st bus took about 20 mins to get to the station, which is I think their routine frequency, but was packed, so let a few passengers off and only accepted a few new passengers at this station, leaving many behind waiting for the next bus. Fortunately, the next bus came within 5-10 mins and was empty enough to appease the demand of most of the awaiting passengers. Mind you, this was nearly 2 hrs before gametime, so considered rather early, and I'm not sure how much better or worst it would be as it comes closer to gametime with what I speculate a higher demand for transit with massive amounts of passengers. The area itself is a bit of an urban jungle, so just be aware to be safe, just like in sports as they say "Defense often wins the game!" - - so, don't fool around with your cell phone to tempt others to rob you and snatch it; don't stare down strangers to inspire confrontation; keep your possessions close to you and closed (especially ladies with purses); and mind your own business. Those are my personal safety tips...

"Ah-ha, hush that fuss…read more Everybody move to the back of the bus Do you wanna bump and slump wit' us? We the type of people make the club get crunk!" Willowbrook / Rosa Parks Station is nostalgic to me time infinity. This LA Metro station was the first I ever visited back in the early 90s, riding with my brother and our aunts or dad - learning more about public transportation and the south side of Los Angeles. Growing up in South Central LA from 1985 to 1997 the Green and Blue line were ones we knew. Mainly for short trips, we got to see the 105 be constructed and the Avalon Station (just before Willowbrook/Rosa Parks) follow a couple years after. Growing up within walking distance of Avalon and a one stop ride to Willowbrook/Rosa Parks anytime I pass this Metro Blue A Line station that connects to the Metro Green C line I flashback to those 90s vibes. The Kenneth Hahn Plaza very nearby was a plaza we frequented - the McDonald's, Denny's and everything that was once there. I have been a few times in the last few years for various reasons and explored the old neighborhoods. There is parking lot for commuters - over 200 spaces and unlike some station it's free - though super generified it's still South Central - security, police station and metro employees on duty and all in one place. And like the Metro slogan goes, "If you see something, say something." Elevators and escalators to connect you to the Green above along the 105 freeway. Ride green. Ride smart. Ride safe.

Very important Los Angeles County Metro station that connects the A (Blue) Line to the C (Green )…read moreline, which is the main line that goes to LAX bus center. The A line is light-rail, using rail-lines at ground level, while the C line is elevated, following the path of I-105. This means the stop for the C line is high up in the air...and you can see cars flying on the highway in both directions. There are working escalators going up (haphazard in terms of if running or not), and there are large elevators for folks that need it.. Note that the green line have similar cars, in that there are no easy place to put your large luggage.
