I have driven past this place literally for decades. I love seeing the family owned businesses (which are becoming harder and harder to find). While they have a wonderful new cozy small store, they do have a pretty small but good assortment of goodies. A bit pricey, but... To be expected. A very small area of (home grown/vine ripened?) veggies, and the cucumbers were as good as I remember when growing my own. Oranges a tad to tangy for me, but fruit is like that, it has different tastes based on a lot of different factors. No fault of Gless Ranch. A bit of hustling going on over their different salads or what-not, by walking up to everyone and offering free samples, with an immediate "You can buy this over there at that table" pitch. (this happened three times/ three products in the 20 minutes I was there). I can't blame the selling, but, it was a tiny bit too much (for me). Found this location, while looking up farmers and ranch markets in this city since I'm not from around here. (You guys obviously know I'm a transplant from LA) Read some of the reviews and obviously did my research based on pictures... Well you guys get the idea. This little ranch market carries many gourmet and boutique based items from your sauces, snacks, and organic home made soaps, lip scrubs, make up...ect... "don't panic it's organic!" THINGS.... the produce like other veggies besides the CITRUS, needs to be more fresh, potatoes were like soft rubber, jaepenos... not fresh. asparagus was dry... certain things in this ranch market seemed to be exceeding shelf life. Other then that it can get pricy in here. Also they had a special on home made jams, if you buy 2 you get a free pack of gourmet crackers. This place offers samples of what's in abundance (obvi) like chips and salsa, dates,tangerines... salsa was good had a smoky taste to it. Cute little place with so much to see, took me and the bf a few rounds of looking and picking to decide what was worth to buy. Your better off buying the CITRUS here and root veggies. Which I find is a better deal then super markets. Service, well there were 4 employees at the cash register just hanging around, I'm used to being in a market where the workers are usually restocking or cleaning. I've gotten these a couple times now. They taste absolutely amazing; however, this most recent time, I got the large bag of oranges and a bunch of them had a significant mold burden on them. Initially I only found 1 or 2, but as I ate through the bag over 5-7 days, I eventually found a whole bunch in the center of the bag with mold. I called the store and they didn't do anything about it. Moral of the story... be careful what you buy there and don't buy the big bags. read more

You can go buy grapefruit for a 1.19 each at the market, or come buy 25 lbs for 7 dollars. The price is unbeatable, and it is straight from all the trees in the farm. Located on the side of the road on van buren, this place is quite the hidden gem. With such a bulk amount of citrus for so cheap, this place is great. Only caveat is that the fruit goes bad sooner than store bought, since they don't process these fruits to make them last as long. More natural, but lower shelf life. If it comes down to it, just juice the 25lbs of fruit or give out oranges and grapefruits to all your friends and coworkers. Either way, ur still saving money on your citrus. read more

Love Gless Ranch! Of course they have great oranges, but my favorite thing is walking around the little shop and picking up all the little hard to find items they have. Things like apple butter, candied nuts, and the old fashioned candy which no trip its ever complete without. My mom said, "These look ugly but are the best!" For $10 you can get 25 pounds of these gems! I also got a bag of avocados for $4.99 -- which had 6-7 pieces. The avocados are perfection as well -- nice, smooth, creamy texture. Valencia oranges this year at Gless Ranch are awful. They are green and very dry. I bought a bag of Valencia oranges last week, they were big like grapefruits and kind of green. I was told these are good oranges for making juice. Wrong! They were very dry and no taste. When I relate my experience to their "team leader" employee, she said she disagreed with me, that when she had their oranges, they were perfectly good. Essentially, she is saying that I'm a liar...
