The events were loud and went late into the evening, one even after midnight. There were issues with the in room TV that were not corrected and hot water took a long time to come up to temperature on the eighth floor, where we were staying. The staff was not very friendly and if anything, indifferent to our issues that we raised.

Once I got to SSM I called them and not only did they have vacancy - but they allowed pets without an extra fee. They're on restriction was that the pet could not be left in the room for an extended period of time alone. I was travelling with 3 of my cats and was very worried about finding hotels that would permit them. I checked into the motel without any problems. The owners/managers live right next door and were very nice and helpful. My cats loved the room because the front wall is actually all windows - so they sat under the curtains watching everyone come and go! The motel is in a pretty busy area of SSM - so it's not a place you'd stay to relax or spend time in your room. But it's within walking distance, or a short drive, from just about every restaurant you could imagine. I went to Swiss Chalet myself. The rooms were a decent size. I had 2 queen beds. The room was clean and well stocked with everything I needed. A small fridge and microwave were included - but I didn't need them. They also had free Wi-Fi i the motel - which was easy and fast to use. All in all - a great option for SSM. I would recommend them to anyone!

We booked direct, using an annual comp night as Platinum Rewards Members. The only charge was a CAD $6 parking fee.

The hotel itself is modern and clean. There's lots of free parking in the hotel lot. There is a hot breakfast buffet that is included in the price of the room. They do not rotate items like most hotels do. They only have scrambled eggs and flat round sausages. They have 1 waffle maker. While we were there the juice dispenser was out of order. They did have ice water, and coffee and tea though. They have a few selections of cereal, packets of instant oatmeal (with walnuts, raisins and brown sugar as toppings), fruit salad (which was mainly honey dew and cantaloupe, with a bit of pineapple, grapes and oranges), yogurt, muffins, English muffins, bagels and sliced bread. They have 1 conveyor belt toaster and it is really slow. I did like that the tea and coffee station was open 24 hours. You can also get hot chocolate at this station. The staff are really nice. I usually write a little note to housekeeping staff thanking them and leave the note along with the tip, and more often than not they just clean the room and take the tip, but one day at the Fairfield, one of the housekeeping attendants wrote me a note back wishing me a nice day and drew a happy face. How nice is that? She even signed her name. It was a bit hard to read, but I think it said "Danuta." On our last morning there, it was so busy that the kitchen attendant had a difficult time keeping everything stocked. She was definitely stressed, but maintained her professionalism. Kudos to her (didn't get her name though, sorry). Overall, the hotel was great, but I have had better breakfast buffets (I really prefer some rotation of items, and I felt that the sausage was under-cooked and the scrambled eggs were a bit watery).

The worker manning the front desk was super friendly. She gave us a recommendationon on a restaurant for dinner. Our room was pretty darn small and the bathroom was one of the tiniest I've seen in years. One could barely turn around in it. The breakfast was standard, perhaps a little bit better. They do have the pancake machine, which is always entertaining. For the price a bit disappointing.

Assaulted by hotel manager Rented the penthouse for a…read morebirthday party! Received noise complaints by this hotel manager, another hotel stall and a KC security guard ENTERING the room. My son ( in video) called me and I hear him asking who they are and why they are in the room and asking for their names and information because they are in plain clothes, except the security guard. My son was videoing the interaction and apparently this hotel manager didn't like this much and CHOKED my son! The call ended. My son was also tackled by this person and my son went to ER following day to be treated for a concussion. KC security guard didn't do anything! When I tried to tell the general manager and another hotel staff ( who I thought was another manager) about this assault, they DENIED it happened!!! Well SURPRISE it was captured on video!!! Good luck denying that! They were more concerned with keeping their $1000 deposit to clean a room we were not able to go back to so we could clean up after the party.

When I booked I EXPLAINED THE entire situation. That I was renting a suite for my sons birthday!!! That there would be children attending the party and swimming but would not be staying the night. I WOULD NOT HAVE BOOKED A SUITE at your hotel if I had been told the children could not swim. There were other hotel I would have booked at that would not have ruined my child's birthday!!!!!  I even asked for a refund so I could bring the party to another hotel and would leave without issue I contact another hotel and they were mover then happy to accommodate me and the party and allow them to swim and the man at the front desk was extremely rude to me and my partner. He stated it must have been a trainer that booked my room for me. (If your trainer screwed up that on you not on me and my children to suffer) Refused to give us a refund so we could bring the party to another hotel. Refused to let the children swim AND REFUSED TO GIVE ME YOUR NAME AND CONTACT INFORMATION AND REFUSED to give HIS NAME.  I have never been treated so horribly in my life. And for an employee to refuse a customer a way to contact management is ridiculous.  I understand completely if your hotel has specific rules. But if YOUR hotel gave me incorrect information and YOUR hotel can't accommodate then simply releasing us from the room and refunding us so we can allow the children to enjoy there evening elsewhere is the proper thing to do. Intentionally ruining child's party being rude and not giving us names and hotel information is ridiculous on so many levels. And we will not be using your hotel ever again in the future.

They do have a bar on site but being that it was towards the end of the tourist season it was not open. I booked on hotels.com and that site told me that there was a pool. However there was not. I still like to travel all day and be able to relax in the hot tub in the evening before going out to explore the town. This was a disappointment but the hotel itself, for as old as it was, was very well kept. There are stories that it is haunted on the 6th floor however we didn't challenge that story LOL.

However, the beds were comfortable. My floors in my hotel room and the bathroom were a little dirty with left over hair from the last guest. There is a hotel bar but its opened at certain times and closes at 8pm. There are a lot of places to eat locally as well. They have complimentary coffee and tea at the front lobby. It appeared they offered breakfast foods, apples, toast etc, but I didn't try the breakfast. Overall, it was a pretty decent stay to be in downtown.

There are big are signs in the room prohibiting cigarette and marijuana smoking but the sign was as far as staff goes to stopping the problem. -The room was pretty run down (tape holding up ceiling tiles, outlets that didn't work, etc.) It is what it is.
