However the prices increased slightly and there a few new workers. The best part about this shop is that they serve quickly and you get your food in record time. Another reviewer stated that the falafels here taste soapy but I have never experienced that. The falafel wrap is one of my favourite dishes at around $8. I can never finish it and it's a good value meal. For $10 you can get a drink as well. In the afternoons their pides go on sale and are $3.50 down from $6. I have been going to this shop for a couple of years now and I really enjoy the food and the service. As I usually go at around the same time each day I tend to see the same workers. Farris and Jamile are the two workers I most often see and they have always been super friendly when serving me. As I see them so often they give me discounts occasionally. It's great when service staff remember you and it is just an extra reason to go back. Definitely recommend this place.

Having said that, the felafel are gluten free and, at a dollar a pop, good value. So if you can't taste the soap, go for it. Perhaps my tastebuds are weird.

Man-O-Salwa is located on the busy Clayton road and sits adjacent to several other restaurants,…read moreespecially the famous Anshuman ka Dhaba (an Indian restaurant specializing in Punjabi cuisine). Specializing in Pakistani cuisine, this restaurant was recommended to us by a friend who had dined there before. I had my apprehensions ofcourse. Growing up in the Middle East and having neighbours from the region, I had a fair understanding of the country's cooking style and flavours. I have tried a few restaurants in Melbourne too but none had come close to an enjoyable experience. (If you have any recommendations, please do let me know). But Man-O-Salwa turned out to be a good surprise. We were quite lucky to get seated immediately on a Saturday evening. I have heard that the waiting time is huge if you arrive later than 7.30pm and so is the serving time. Luckily, we were seated, orders taken and served relatively fast. Service is efficient but basic. Do not expect friendly and patient waiters here; all you will see are two overworked waitresses handling an incredible amount of work. (Hope the management reads this review and employs more staff especially for weekends than expect the girls to perform like robots). No alcohol is served, given the type of restaurant so the beverages list is basic to juices and soft drinks. The menu at Man-O-Salwa is a good representation of Pakistani cuisine; it had all the basics covered without getting too extensive. All the dishes arrived one after the other though we had ordered it as courses, except for dessert. So here's what we ate; We started off with pani puri which is quite famous as an Indian street food so I wanted to know if there's any difference to the Pakistani version. In fact, it was quite interesting. To start with, the filling for the puri was a chickpea mixture which was really different to anything I have had before and quite delicious too. The pani or the 'spiced water' is usually green but this version had a red colour. The tamarind chutney was quite similar to the ones served in India. Different but delicious; I would definitely order it again and I would totally recommend it. Next came the lamb seekh kebabs served with a raita/yoghurt dip and salad. The kebabs were really really good. Melt-in-your-mouth, so full of flavour from the spices and aromatics yet so subtle. I see myself eating a lot of these in the future; wouldn't mind all the wait just for this. Absolutely a must try. For mains, we got an assortment of flat breads like the plain rotis, tawa parathas and butter naans. And to accompany these, we ordered Beef Nihari and lamb brain fry. The flatbreads were good, especially the tawa parathas which ofcourse had a lot of oil but then that's the way it's really made. Not a place to count calories! The Nihari was really good but I would have preferred more flavour to the soupy sauce part but the meat was cooked real tender. There aren't many restaurants in Melbourne doing the brain fry or rather doing it right so I was particularly excited with this one. It was almost like scrambled eggs but ofcourse, you get the flavour of the lamb. Cooked really well with the right balance of flavours from the spices. Recommended if you like to eat lamb brains! There was a whole fried fish on the menu which I really wanted to try out but apparently, you need to place the order a day before. So keep that in mind if you are keen to try it out. And ofcourse, the biryani; how can you bypass this dish if you have Indian blood in your veins! So we ordered the goat biryani and not disappointed at all. Perfectly cooked rice with that subtle hint of saffron and spices, goat cooked tender and juicy; yet another dish that comes highly recommended from me. The only negative was that there were no accompaniments to the biryani like a raita or salan. Coming to desserts, there is a small but really good choice. We decided to try out the kulfis and the falooda, both traditional desserts popular in both India and Pakistan. So we tried the pistachio and the paan kulfi. Yumm is the word! Both were creamy, delicious and so flavourful; really good stuff especially the paan flavour. The falooda was also delicious, very good portion with all the layers of the vermicelli/sev, sweet basil seeds, nuts, icecream and that final drizzle of Rooh Afza. Again a must try! Overall, a very satisfying and delicious experience. The only negative is the service. As it started getting busy, the staff was almost forcing us to eat faster and get out of the place. There was a certain impatience exhibited which does not really sit well.

Because the chips are possibly some of the most fantastic hot chips in Melbourne. The secret, I suspect, is a spice blend they're putting on them. A spice blend mixed with fairy dust in all likelihood. I used to eat these and then go home and not have space for a meal lovingly cooked by my actual mother. She was offended until she tried them, and then she started sending my father out for late-night chip runs. They're that good.

My first reaction/thought of this place is, "Why is it located in such a very bad location?" If for some reason you lose your phone and have a bad sense of direction, forget about trying to find this place because its sandwiched between a self serve car wash and BP petrol station, just as you turn in. The BP petrol station alone makes this places hard to find with its big signs and flashy colours. Since this place open til late, I had the pleasure of eating their lamb Kebab a few times in the evenings and late nights. I bought a Small Lamb Kebab pack that came with: Kebab, which does not fall apart like other kebabs in other restaurants. The better its stuck together the less mess you'd have to clean up after. Hot chips with amazing seasoning which is fried when ordering. I found to be great as it keeps that freshly fried hotness and that sound we all love to hear on the TV when that special someone bites into a nicely baked/fried chip. Can Soft Drink Buying in the afternoon/late, early evenings are great as the kebab are still hot by the time I get home to eat after a 15-25min drive(during peak hour after work). Buying during the late trade was another story! I wanted to see if there would be a difference in quality from the start of the day trade running til its last few hours of trade. 3:30am I get in and ordered the same small pack. Everything was great but what I've noticed was that the Kebab, the main meal had cooled down by the time I got home. No cars on the road, in the middle of early morning? What's going on here? Why is it that the quality of food dropped from being great in the morning to the point that someone will get food poisoning? I couldn't finish it as I was cautious to not get food poison. Being a well known kebab place which its main consumers are buying during the night/early morning it gets full majority of the weekends. What I've also noticed is their food handing hygiene. When preparing food in front of customers, wearing food grade gloves is a must which none of the employees and the owners themselves didn't have on and rings on fingers weren't taken off. I don't know where their fingers have been and being the consumer, its not nice to see all this happening right in front of my eyes. Prices are similar with other Kebab restaurants, give or take a dollar or 3. In conclusion, The best Kebab and hot chips I've had, but the reason I gave it 3 stars out of 5 is due to Food Handling hygiene which is a big concern with me( it can being in Food Safety inspectors/auditors) plus how they are maintaining their meat temperature after being cooked(Food poisoning is dangerous) and location. You know those signs that say "Beware"? Well with this restaurant it would be "Beware, eat at your own risk"
